Can't figure out how to move from one directory to another

Hello to all.... I am a newbie to zen cart. I set up my site on https://www.weartmc.com/shop
However I've just purchased a ssl certificate and you can't put it on that site it has to be a sub domain like https://www.shop.weartmc.com so thats where i'm trying to move zen cart to.
I drag and drop the shop folder up one directory. Taking it out of the public html directory and moved it up to the home directory i guess

so then i went in admin...configuration...sessions to change that to point to the new folder

now I'm trying to figure out how to change the configure.php files

in the includes/configure.php it did this

orig
http://www.mediafire.com/?xmvfvgm1nto

new file
http://www.mediafire.com/?z0ic0txit2n

admin orig
http://www.mediafire.com/?yswiylmnu9t

new admin file
http://www.mediafire.com/?leny2j3om00

i'm pretty sure i screwed this whole process up.... so if anyone can help me out with some step by step instructions... I've read the faq's but can't understand it.... so for your help i'll be glad to make a donation....

thanks... and fyi i haven't set the ssl up yet so i'm not ready for the secured site to go live... i just want to move the site to the url that i will eventually set up to be secured.... https://www.shop.weartmc.com

The folders need to be in the public_html folder or they won't be accessible. What you need to do is move everything from /shop to public_html. public_html is the root (home) directory.

Once you get everything moved, you have to remove all references to /shop in admin/includes/configure.php and includes/configure.php.

so do I remove everything from the shop folder and put it in the public_html folder?

Re: Can't figure out how to move from one directory to another

I should have waited for an answer.... but um... i went ahead and moved everything that was inside the shop folder and put it in the public_html folder... without making a backup of the shop folder... so now i've moved everything and can't tell what is what, i don't know what files/folders were origianaly from the shop folder and which files/folders were originally in the public_html folder

So i Think I'll just start over and do a fresh install

Yup. Just move all the files and folders from /shop to the public_html folder and then edit the two configure.php files as afo said above.

Edit: Shouldn't matter what else you have in there, aslong as there's not another index.php or index.html.

Re: Can't figure out how to move from one directory to another

  1. did you remove the references to /shop in admin/includes/configure.php and includes/configure.php? DO NOT use the editor available in your webmaster panel to do this. Your best bet is to download these files to your local drive (your computer), edit them using a good text editor like Notepad++ or Crimson Editor and then upload them again.

  2. did you manage to move the folders that didn't move earlier? If not, try FTPing them to your local drive (your computer) and then FTPing them up to the root directory (public_html).
