Shipping Rate for Zone is Different

I have reviewed practically all of the posts regarding this subject and have tried everything with no results. I have products that weigh anywhere from 4-50 pounds. However, when I simulate an order for let's say a 4 pound item, it shows up as 8 pounds in my shopping cart and then when I log in I see in my shipping method zone rate, "Shipping to US (1 x 17.00lb(s)) ".

On the product edit page in the backend, the location for placing the product shipping weight has "4" as its value.

I have tried adjusting for ounces and bringing the amount to a decimal form but it still stays around the 9-10 pounds when I make the weight less. I have zeroed out package tares in the shipping configuration. Can anyone help? This is frustrating.

What settings exactly are in the Tare settings?

How exactly do you have the Zones setup?

Yes, there are actually rates up o 100 pounds but I thought I would leave those out snce it would be redundant information

What is your Maximum weight shipped set to?

I have a maximum weight of 150

Could you copy and paste your whole definition for the Zone without cutting anything out of it ...

It appears correct so what do you think may be the problem since the California address is the state of origin for the company?

I went to your site and made a California address and I still get the 4lbs with the $5.50 charge for shipping ...

Can you add a new address to your account and make a new California address and see if it works?

I don't quite understand why my own personal account shows the added weight...very odd! Any possible ideas as to what the problem was? I really appreciate your help. Another question...any idea on how to create rates for states or provinces?

I FOUND THE PROBLEM! No answer but I at least know what the problem is. I tried fictious customer sign-ins from different states including California with no problem.

THE PROBLEM actually occurs when a user forgets their password and requests a new one. When the user puts in the new password sent by email and orders a product, the weight is thrown off. I am including the results from ordering the same 4 pound item below. Any suggestions?

I click go to checkout it asks to enter email address and password. I click FORGOT YOUR PASSWORD

I enter my email address..it tells me a new password has been sent.

I check my email and copy the password

And go to the delivery method screen….and….

I get 4 pounds Oh God! Now it works LOL I don’t know why its working now but I guess all is fine. Oh well.. I really do appreciate your help. If it happens again down the line, maybe I will start a new thread
