Log In and Home links in a Sidebox instead of under Header?

I have moved the Categories Tabs from above the header image to below it, where the 'Log In' and 'Home' links (navigation, not breadcrumb nav though) normally is. Now I need to remove the navigation from under the header image and I'd like to put it into a sidebox. Is that possible? Is there a pre-made Navigation Sidebox out there?

There are a few options in the sidebar section of the downloads area.
