Is Zen Cart right for me?

I want to build a website with a catalog component, but am not ready to have e-commerce on the site. I only want the customers to be able to search/view catalog items (just like an e-commerce site) but without prices, adding to cart, or checkout features. Should I use Zen Cart? Or would it be better to go with a different product. Any thoughts/ideas would be greatly appreciated! :blush:

Re: Is Zen Cart right for me?

If you invision turning on the cart functions at some point then Zen Cart would be perfect. You can set the site in showcase mode and you will get the effect your describing.

Yup, what Mike said! If you die it what way, you can easily transition to a live store and not have to start over.

Re: Is Zen Cart right for me?

Admin > Configuration > My Store : Store Status

What is your Store Status
0= Normal Store
1= Showcase no prices
2= Showcase with prices

Just in case you were wondering where the setting is. :wink:

Looking at my typo, I really need to stop posting late at night when I'm tearing my hair out watching a baseball game. :rolleyes: :laugh:

Re: Is Zen Cart right for me?

Beauty of Zencart of course is that you can set the whole thing up as a full e-commerce site if you want to and by the simple click of just one admin setting, have either a full-blown e-commerce site - or just a showcase catalogue.

Wow... I'm always amazed at the clever people who built this code!
