New to zen customize zen cart pages

Hello guys,

I'm new to zen cart and it's forum but I have successfully installed one. My question is I'd like to customize the default layout/template the cart installed, where do I start? Can you point me to some link on this forum so i can stat and go from there?

I'm a programmer and I have a web artist w/ me who will be working on this cart for a particular client. My client wanted us to make the layout/images/pages to look like the way he wanted it to be. Is this possible? Can you point me on any link on where could i start?

Thanks guys and I'll appreciate very much your help in advance :) and I'm happy to be part of this forum.

Best Regards,

Re: New to zen customize zen cart pages

The best place to start is at the top of this page - click on tutorials/FAQ and read everything, especially those items which involve templates.

Second, go here: http://(sorry, site offline) and look around. Then download and install a few templates that you like to get accustomed to how templates are created. Then modify one of those or start working on your own.

When you have specific questions, come back to the forum to search, then post.

stevesh's suggestions are right on target. If you can find a free template that's close to what you're trying to do, you'll be part of the way there. Even if you don't, you can find out how the templates are built by downloading one and playing around with it.

And learn about how the "override" system works for templating in the FAQs/Tutorials.
