Multiple rows of products - URGENT! please help!

I am having a bit of a meltdown and need the help of Zen Gurus!
I have a template that I am trying to work with and have an idea of what I am looking for. I can set up the images/products to load up like this:

or it will setup in a columnar layout like this:

I don't want the second layout (columned) because it is way too much white space per product and having 20 products on a page like that would make a huge page. And the first layout (rowed) can only display 3 products per page then it goes to the next page where I have the same problem...

I would like for the layout to be like this...

multiple products per row and multiple rows per page.

This is not for New, Featured, Special, or Upcoming products it is just under a category (NFL) where the customer can view the team they want to purchase. I can't find a setting anywhere under any of the admin menus!?

What can I do!? Please help!

First, screenshots are far inferior to an actual link to your site when you're asking for help, especially with layout qustions..

Where did you get the template you're using?

Have you installed this mod?:

http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?main_page=product_contrib_info&products_id=77

Re: Multiple rows of products - URGENT! please help!

I wish we had an 'edit' button, hate to double post...

The way I am currently alternating between columnar/rowed layout is with the Column Layout Grid for Product Listing module. I'm not sure if that changes anything but I'd figure I'd post that and also that this is all still hosted on a localserver so no url for support. :( (sorry)

Re: Multiple rows of products - URGENT! please help!

Hey Steve!
Sorry about not having the server live yet. We are trying to mitigate loss while we transfer over from joomla to zen cart, so we have to leave our current store up until this one is completed.

In my previous post (after you beat me to the puch) I noted that I have installed the same mod that you posted. Thus how I am able to go between the two layouts rather easily.

This is my template I'm using my boss purchased from templatemonster.com. It's ok and since he's paid for it he insists that I use it. Any pointers?

(I see now we can edit secondary posts just not the initial post :) )

You may be SOL.

Search this forum for 'Template Monster' to get an idea what you might be up against.

TM doesn't follow the template override system built into Zencart - they make changes in core code files as well, and often options built into the Zencart admin just don't work.

Having had a boss or two in my day, I know that won't go down well, but...

You may be able to get some help from TM themselves.

FYI, you have 7 minutes to edit a post.

Re: Multiple rows of products - URGENT! please help!

For those that run into a similar problem here is the solution:

Have the Column Grid Layout mod installed.

Once installed set it up via following these instructions.

Admin > Configuration > Product Listing > Product Listing - Layout Style = columns
Admin > Configuration > Product Listing > Product Listing - Columns per row = 3
(however many you items/products/columns you want per row)

Next navigate to:

Admin > Configuration > Maximum Values > Products Listing - Number Per Page = 20
(however many items you want to be displayed per listing page)

By default Template monster sets this to 4 or 5. Bumping up that number in mix with the afore mentioned mod will give you a decent looking layout.

Re: Multiple rows of products - URGENT! please help!

hi

i have installed the update from: Oct 26 2006 and doesn't work.
i can't see any:
Admin > Configuration > Product Listing > Product Listing - Layout Style = columns
Admin > Configuration > Product Listing > Product Listing - Columns per row = 3

in fact i have different ways:

the instructions tell me to:

**- Upload the new product_listing.php to ZEN_CART_HOME_DIR/includes/modules/YOURTEMPLATE/product_listing.php

  • Upload the new tpl_modules_product_listing.php to:
    ZEN_CART_HOME_DIR/includes/templates/YOURTEMPLATE/templates/tpl_modules_product_listing.php**

but i have different paths:

  • Upload the new product_listing.php to ZEN_CART_HOME_DIR/includes/modules/product_listing.php
  • Upload the new tpl_modules_product_listing.php to:
    ZEN_CART_HOME_DIR/includes/templates/YOURTEMPLATE/templates/tpl_modules_product_listing.php

can anybody help?

thank you
