Is it even possible to use Paypal Website Standard in ZenCart?

I did everything I was instructed per the directions in the payment module - this is the first time I'm accepting CC payments for my business and wanted to do a test run using my PayPal acct before I sign up for a legitimate merchant account. Anyway, my host (surpass hosting) said they have disabled the PHP allow_url_fopen because of potential security risks, which leads me to think that's where the problem lies - anyone know anyway to get around it? Or another all around solution. Check out my site at ellevatedfitness.com/enroll to specifics.

Thank you to anyone who can help me. I'm a fish out of water here.

Although disabling "allow_url_fopen" can be one form of security, it is presumed that cURL will then be used. To use cURL and depending upon how the Server is setup, you may need to be using an SSL Certificate. If you don't already have one it is strongly recommended to get one.

In the meantime, the following is a "temporary" workaround that may help.

In your .htaccess file put:

php_flag allow_url_fopen ON

Do your testing then remove when finished.

The learning is in the doing.

It has been discovered that allow_url_fopen being disabled is not necessarily a problem in all cases. Thus, that may or may not be why you're not getting order confirmations.

Re: Is it even possible to use Paypal Website Standard in ZenCart?

Hey all,

I am also using Paypal Website Standard. Zen Cart (1.3.8) is not retaining the order and there is no order number. I made sure the Token number in the Paypal module matches the PDT at Paypal and still no resolution. I had to call a customer and ask them what they ordered after receiving the payment to our Paypal account.

I have gone through the tutorial twice and no resolution.

What is your URL?
What are your PayPal debug logs saying? (since the tutorial you went through twice recommends it, you must have logs to show, right?)
What addons do you have on your site?
Who are you hosted with?
