Some Products and categories not displaying

Hi all...

I haven't posted much here because, well - I have managed to find everything I need with no problems whatsoever - so a big massive thanks for that!!!

I can't quite seem to put my finger on this one small problem I have on a clients site...

Firstly, when you click all products, page two is not displaying all the items it should - as though it is cut off halfway through.

Secondly, the Peugeot category does not display any cars - whereas it had previously. All this despite saying there are 2 cars in the category. If the Peugeot car comes up in the 'new cars for July' section, clicking it merely takes you to a blank screen. Everything seems to be fine in the admin.

I am considering deleting the category and then re-entering it to see if that works. Was wondering if any of you fine folks had any ideas as to what would be causing it before I went off and did this however....

Check the two products in that category and see if there is something in the Product that is in error like bad html code etc.

If you temporarily set the two products to products_status = 0, as in Not Instock, does the All Products work now?

Note: the two products break both the products_new and the product _info as well so there is something in them that is causing the problem ...

I'm not sure I understand what you mean?

I have set the cars to out of stock in admin/catalog/products + categories however this makes no difference to wither problem...

What files should I be looking at??

Is products_id 214 active?

What is the name of the Product Name for that product?

What is the name of the image for that product?

NOTE: Cut and paste from an EDIT of the products_id 214

NOTE: this is one of the Peugeot Category products, I am not sure of the other one ...

214 is active according to the setting in the admin section - it is a Renault car however.

The Peugeot ID's are 213 and 193 respectively, and are both set to active....

Disable those three products ... does the All Products work now?

I only disabled the Peugeot ones and now it works...

So, what this tells me is there is something "different" about those products that produce errors ...

Odd Product Names, Descriptions, etc. etc.

What do you notice that might be "different" about those?

There are two cars in the Peugeot category. One i uploaded, one my client uploaded. When I enable mine, and disable his, it works fine - so it is something to do with the car he has uploaded...

The only thing immediately different I can see is that he has used caps, and uploaded the image to the main directory, not the peugeot one....

I am off out ofr an hour or so now so forgive me for taking a while to reply...

Hmm I have no idea what caused it...

I have deleted the car, and re-added it myself, and everything seems fine. I am yet to uplaod a photo yet however as I do not have on on this pic - so that may be the problem...if it is, I shall post back - if not thanks a lot for all the help!!! :D

Seems that the images being uploaded are the problems....

Whenever the image is put up, thats when it goes wrong. The only reason I can see for this is that the newer images my client is uploading have their file names in caps...

Would this make it not work? I'm waiting on something to be put on this afternoon and i shall test this theory...

Well folks seems it was the image size that was the issue...

My client simply took them directly off his digi cam whereas I automatically re-size them...that's where the discrepancy came in - so I just need to show him how to do this and away we go!!

Thanks for the update ... sounds like the images were so large that the brower(s) simply timed out in attempts to download the image to the temp directory for the browser ... more or less, they threw up ... er ... gave up ... :lamo:

Just curious, how big were those images? :unsure:
