Moving Zen cart to a different server AND domain

Hi

I have a zen cart site currently running V1.3.8.

Id like to move my entire site to a different server and domain name.

If that isnt possible it would be OK to move just the catalog. - what i mean is that i could install zen cart onto a different server & domain and then import the catalog and copy the pictures accross.

With OSC this is easy i just go to the tools database and back it up. Then copy all the product images to the new server and restore the database there using the backup manager.

How is this done in Zen Cart please?

Pretty much the same as here:

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=99

Copy the database to the new domain.

Copy the files to the new domain.

Edit the two configure.php files.

Re: Moving Zen cart to a different server AND domain

Hi

Thanks. Following those instructions i get to

Simply take all the files the way they are and upload them to your new host. BE SURE TO INCLUDE THE "zc_install" folder.

Now i dont have a zc_install folder because i installed with fantastico...

Would it be easier or possible to go to cpanel, backups, and make a FULL backup (files, database etc). And could i then restore it on the new server (with different domain). And then make the changed to the config files? Would that work? It would save a lot of FTPing which always seems to time out for me.

In Cpanel backups there is an option to upload a "home directory backup" is that what i need to restore using the full backup option on the new server

Thanks

Re: Moving Zen cart to a different server AND domain

A home directory backup from cpanel probably includes folders: public_html, .cpanel/datastore, tmp. What you can do is to expand the gz files on your local machine and upload the zen-cart folders within public_html.

Create a new database, import the structure and data, edit your configure.php files you should be set.
