Products Missing After Upgrade to 1.3.8

I am in process of upgrading from 1.3.6 to 1.3.8. After upgrading the database, I am missing the products. The demo products are there but not the products that are supposed to be there. Everything else (customers, categories, etc.) is there but no products. Any ideas?

Thanks

You did do backups of your files and your database before starting this I hope...

Yes, I did.

I have been going over the old database and the new with BBedit. I see the products (I think) under orders_products and I also see orders_products_attributes on both databases.

Re: Products Missing After Upgrade to 1.3.8

  1. What steps did you take to do your upgrade?

  2. In your store "before" the upgrade, what was the setting in your old configure.php file for DB_PREFIX?
    What's that same setting in your new upgraded site's configure.php file? If different, why?

  3. Looking in the same configure.php files, both before and after, what's the setting for DB_DATABASE? If different, why?

Re: Products Missing After Upgrade to 1.3.8

Hi Dr. Byte,

Thank you for your help with this.

This is what I did-

  1. Unzip a copy of the new version of Zen Cart™, upload it to your webserver into a "demo" folder

  2. Make a full backup of your database (dump to SQL file). Store this file on your PC for later reference.

  3. Make a NEW database to install the new version of Zen Cart™ into. Use your hosting control panel to do this.

4.EDIT your "/zen_new/includes/configure.php" file and ensure that your DATABASE_NAME matches your NEW database. Also verify database username and password in case that information has changed. Save this file, and be sure to upload it as part of the next step. Repeat for the/admin/includes/configure.php file as well

  1. Had hosting company import original database into new database because it is a very large file

5.Using your browser, surf to /zc_install/index.php and choose "Database Upgrade" when prompted.

  1. Upgraded database from 1.3.6 to 1.3.7

  2. Upgraded database from 1.3.7 to 1.3.8

  3. Ran into issue with Duplicate entry. http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=82998
    Run this using the SQL Patch tool in the Admin->Tools menu:
    DELETE from query_builder where query_name = 'Customers who have never completed a purchase';

  4. Received this:

SKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "SHOW_SHOPPING_CART_COMBINED" because it already exists
SKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "ORDER_COMMENTS_INVOICE" because it already exists
SKIPPED: Cannot insert configuration_key "ORDER_COMMENTS_PACKING_SLIP" because it already exists

Re: Products Missing After Upgrade to 1.3.8

To answer questions 2 and 3.

*2. In your store "before" the upgrade, what was the setting in your old configure.php file for DB_PREFIX?
What's that same setting in your new upgraded site's configure.php file? If different, why?
*
The DB_Prefix for both the old and the new configure.php file is:

define('DB_PREFIX', '');

3. Looking in the same configure.php files, both before and after, what's the setting for DB_DATABASE? If different, why?

define('DB_TYPE', 'mysql');
define('DB_PREFIX', '');
define('DB_SERVER', 'localhost');
define('DB_SERVER_USERNAME', 'DIFFERENT FROM ORIGINAL');
define('DB_SERVER_PASSWORD', 'DIFFERENT FROM ORIGINAL');
define('DB_DATABASE', 'DIFFERENT');
define('USE_PCONNECT', 'false'); // use persistent connections?
define('STORE_SESSIONS', 'db'); // use 'db' for best support, or '' for file-based storage

The upgrade is in a different folder. I created a new database for the upgrade and had hosting company import original database into new database

Re: Products Missing After Upgrade to 1.3.8

You may need to check the backup datafile to see whether the data for the products table(s) is present in the backup.

Re: Products Missing After Upgrade to 1.3.8

I am making a little progress. I now can see the categories in admin. I checked the database and the products are there except that I cannot see them in the admin area.
