how do I change or delete 'congratulations, you have succe...'

I know this is covered in the most asked questions link but It isn't informative enough for newbies. Do I go into one of my php editors the change it and if so which one, I have a few different icons that have php in the title: phpmyadmin, phppgadmin, php config, and php pear packages. Which one do I go into and when in there, how do I get to where I need to edit. I know I need to find the index_php that has that 'congratulation...'

basically where do I go to edit this, php editor?, on my computer?, ftp?

The tutorials about editing files assume:

You have FTP access to the folders and files on your server.

You have an FTP client (if not, Filezilla is good, and it's free).

You have a text editor on your local computer (if not Notepad++ is good, and it's free).

So, connect to your remote server, using Filezilla.

Find the file(s) mentioned in the tutorial, and copy it to your local computer.

Open the file in Notepad++ and make your changes.

Save the edited file to your local computer (I have a special folder for each Zencart installation I work with just for this purpose).

Copy the edited file (using Filezilla) back to the proper override folder on the remote server.

Done.

As a general rule, you won't use any program in your host's control panel (CPanel, etc.) to work with Zencart, until you're advanced enough to start changing stuff in the database directly.

Also, it's a good idea to unzip the Zencart zip file onto your local computer and spend some time noodling around in the folders to familiarize yourself with the folder and file structure.

with your advice I was able to find and change the text with notepad and save it, but, when I up loaded it to the server and refreshed my website there were no changes. you mentioned override folder, where do I find it and how do I do it.

I assume I am not overriding and that is the problem, but I do not see an override option in my ftp

This list is a bit outdated, but it might give you the general idea. YOUR_TEMPLATE should be replaced by whatever name you'd like to give your template. To create a very basic custom template (you can build from there), you need:

• includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/meta_tags.php
• includes/languages/english/YOUR_TEMPLATE/header.php (to change the logo)
• includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php
• includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_header.php
• includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_footer.php
• includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/images/logo.gif
• includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/css/stylesheet.css

Anywhere you see a /classic/ folder, you can create a folder for your custom template. You can copy the necessary files from either the /classic/ folder, the /template_default/ folder or the parent folder.

Edit includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/template_info.php to give your template identifying information so you'll recognize it in the admin under tools->template selection.

I still don't know how to create a override folder, I appreciate the attemped help but it all seems a little to complicated. I just want to change the 'congratulations...'
text, but I cant find it in any of my php files, why is it so complicated? I thought I saw it in there once but now I can't find it, I might have deleted the text already but I still have the other problem of not having the changes appear on my website once I have uploaded changes to the server.

All you have to do is use your FTP program or your webmaster panel and create the folders (or directories, if you prefer) in the right places and upload/copy the modified files into them.
