Using Zen Cart across different sites

I have 2 questions about using Zen Cart as the basket on different websites:

  1. Is it possible to customise Zen Cart so that it is different for each website (ie, the name, style, etc are different)?

  2. All my sites are hosted in the same package but from different directories. Where would I place the Zen Cart files for each website: in the home (top level) or in each directory?

Re: Using Zen Cart across different sites

I'm not sure, but the multisite module might be what you're looking for.

If you want each website to have a separate cart and database, of course, that's possible. The sites in my sig are hosted on the same account with separate Zen Cart installations.

You might also achieve the same result by using one database for all the "sites", but the sites would all be working off the same inventory (selling the same items) in that case.

Re: Using Zen Cart across different sites

Thanks afo. Yes, I want "...each website to have a separate cart and database..."

How can I achieve that?

Re: Using Zen Cart across different sites

Install Zen Cart in each the directories for the websites you want to use it for. You'll need to create a corresponding database for each website as well (do this first because zc_install will ask for it). After that, it's a matter of customizing each one individually.

As I said earlier, both sites in my sig are on the same hosting plan... and neither is the "main" domain on that plan, so in my case, Zen Cart is installed for Fan Odyssey and Holzheimer's separately in the respective directory for the domain.
