Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

I've removed 'More Info...' and 'Add to Cart' in the product listing but it leaves a white gap!

I've deleted all the <br /> in the product_listing.php file but it did not solve the problem.

Here's how it looks like:

I've been on this for hours so some help is greatly appreciated...

Thank you in advance

Re: Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

How did you "remove" this?

Did you use the "display:none" technique in your stylesheet, or did you edit come back-end code?

Re: Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

Thanks for your quick reply.

I removed 'More Info' by going to product_listing.php and made changes from:

// more info in place of buy now
define('MORE_INFO_TEXT','...more info');

to:

define('MORE_INFO_TEXT','');

Same with Add to Cart.

I realize by doing this, I am simply removing the text but the function is still there. How do I remove the entire thing?

Thanks so much!

Re: Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

Could you supply a link to your site so I can see the css and the page source html?

Re: Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

Just as an aside...

Your page is generating errors - looks like they related to stylesheet_new.css

Expected colour but found 'ffffff'. Error in parsing value for property 'background-color'. Declaration dropped.
[Break on this error] undefined
stylesheet.css (line 252)
Error in parsing value for property 'font'. Declaration dropped.
[Break on this error] undefined
stylesheet_new.cs... (line 559)
Unknown property 'text-alignment'. Declaration dropped.
[Break on this error] undefined
stylesheet_new.cs... (line 667)
Expected colour but found '#fffff'. Error in parsing value for property 'color'. Declaration dropped.
[Break on this error] undefined
stylesheet_new.cs... (line 1057)

Your stylesheets are read by the browser in the following order:-

includes/templates/wp/css/style_imagehover.css
includes/templates/wp/css/stylesheet.css
includes/templates/wp/css/stylesheet_css_buttons.css
includes/templates/wp/css/stylesheet_new.css
includes/templates/wp/css/print_stylesheet.css

Which means that stylesheet_new.css will over-ride anything set in stylesheet.css.

You may like to familiarise yourself with the way ZC interprets stylesheets, start by reading the README file in the stylesheets folder of your template.

Re: Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

Unfortunately ZC does not assign styles to the component you wish to disable, so it can't be done in the stylesheet. It's a template issue - but I'm not sure which one. I'll give it some thought and if I establish a solution I'll get back to you.

Re: Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

Thanks for your reply! I did intend the stylesheet_new.css to override stylesheet.css . I do realize there are some discrepencies.

Back to my old problem though... any idea how to fix it?

Re: Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

What version of ZC are you using, and what add-ons are in your installation?

Also, your custom template... Was it written by you? Or is it based largely on an existing template.

I'm trying to establish what (if any) core files have been modified, as there seem to be a number of "difficult-to-identify" issues with your site.

Re: Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

Is product_listing.php a part of the column layout grid add-on ?

If so, that's probably why I couldn't find appropriate refs!

Beware of doing "blanket deletes" of html tags. Rather try to find the "offending one" and deal with just that one.

Re: Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

Yep! The Column Grid Layout add-on overrides 2 files: product_listing.php and tpl_modules_product_listing.php . After reinstalling the add-on, everything worked smoothly :)

Thanks for the word of caution. It's true that I deleted 6 of those <br /> and I don't even know if I fixed my problem but screwed up something else!

Re: Gap in product listing between price and 'sold out' button

It looks much better. I would increase the bottom margin of the listings a bit more.

You currently have:-

.centerBoxContentsProducts {
    height: 200px;
    margin-bottom: 10em;
    position: bottom;
    }

I would go for:-

    margin-bottom: 10.5em;

or perhaps even

    margin-bottom: 11em;
