template problems

hello, I am having some problems with my zen cart templates.

Whenever I install a template, the columns disappear and it doesn't look much like it's supposed to. I'm assuming I'm not doing it right but I've followed tutorials as best as I can.

When reinstalling the old template, the columns reappear but there's a manual ad and the following lines on the index:

This content is located in the file at: /languages/english/html_includes/classic/define_main_page.php

You can quickly edit this content via Admin->Tools->Define Pages Editor, and select define_main_page from the pulldown.

NOTE: Always backup the files in /languages/english/html_includes/your_template

Also, the columns seem to have unnaturally shifted after attempting to install other templates. If anyone can help with all these issues, even better would be if I could give you the template and you go into my server? thanks in advance.

Re: template problems

Open your Admin> Tools> Layout Boxes Controller and scroll down to the bottom of the page and hit the reset.

Please do not PM for support issues: a private solution doesn't benefit the community.

Be careful with unsolicited advice via email or PM - Make sure the person you are talking to is a reliable source.

Oy Vey! This is a Template Monster template - your troubles are just beginnig, my friend.

You can adjust the column widths in your admin - configurations - layout settings.

Re: template problems

Unfortunately, Template Monster templates are notorious for hardcoding certain features which makes the switches in the admin useless. :shocking:

Re: template problems

includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_main_page.php

Around line #75 you should find:

<table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" id="contentMainWrapper">

change it to:

<br class="clearBoth" /> <table width="100%" border="0" cellspacing="0" cellpadding="0" id="contentMainWrapper">

The learning is in the doing.

You'll need to copy the file from template_default to your PC01 folder and make the changes recommedned above.

What is this code doing to your page?

#navMain ul li a:hover, #navSupp ul li a:hover { width: 10em; text-decoration: none; color: #ffffff; white-space: nowrap; /background-image: url(../images/button_over.gif); background-repeat: no-repeat; background-position: left top;/ display: block; padding: 4px 0 6px 0; margin-right: 5px; background-position: -103px 0px; Tina
