Don't show categories etc. unless signed in

I don't want to show categories, manufactures or the search capabilities unless client is signed in. This will be a restricted site to approved clients only. I know how to do it for "information" and "more information", but cannot figure it out for categories, search or manufacturer.

I am fairly certain you can do this via admin > Configuration > customer details
