HELP! Silverfish template

I am so lost right now I could really use any help I can get. :frusty:
I just changed the template because I could not get my right columns to show up. I still can't get them to work! I don't know what I am doing wrong.
I had them on classic, but every template since then they are not there. Now classic won't even display them. I have them turned on, no 0 in the sort order, and the single column status is off. (of course the ones on eht left say left and the ones I want on the right say right :wacko: )
I also can't figure out how to change the categories under the banner so they are next to each other not in a vertical row.
Please - Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Check your setting for

admin > config > layout settings > Column Right Status - Global > set to "1"
