"Shipping & Returns" page and shipping issues

Hi all,

I'm not too sure how, but I seem to have lost my "Shipping & returns" page... basically if you have a quick look at the website and click on the shipping & returns link it's not loading up properly, contact, privacy etc are loading up properly... any ideas?

https://www.shop.parishclothing.com

also trying to work out a shipping option for international buyers... I dont like the AustPost shipping module, I dont think its working properly... and we offer free shipping within Australia anyways... what I really want is that our international customers contact us and we can advise them of a price and in the shipping section they can manually type it in so that when they check out it will be added to their paypal total amount... unless someone else has a work around? like adding a cost to an order that has already been completed but not paid? bar this I guess we just wont ship internationally right now or offer bank transfers for international customers? is it not possible to add shipping in paypal? I remember ages ago i had bought something and there was a blank field in paypal to add the shipping amount..

any help would be much appreciated :)

cheers,

Y

The file appears to exist - but seems to be empty, ie no content.

go to Admin > Tools > Define Pages Editor then select define_shippinginfo.php from the drop down menu and add some blurb. Save and test.

Re: "Shipping & Returns" page and shipping issues

hey mate,

yeah tried that, thats how I noticed there was something dodgy cause I had put something in there and it wasn't showing up... I've gone through pretty much all the admin side of things, I have also had a look at the actual php file and nothing wrong there... so not too sure were the beans is coming from...

any other ideas? :)

Most problems like this are caused by PHP errors in some file.

Check this tutorial:

Re: "Shipping & Returns" page and shipping issues

Thanks for the additional info,

I have tried that debugger and getting the following error;

[10-Aug-2008 23:09:11] PHP Fatal error: require() [<a href='function.require'>function.require</a>]: Failed opening required '' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/.topee/adminparish/www.shop.parishclothing.com/includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_shippinginfo_default.php on line 21

I have gone through these forums and tried to find the cause, but most people seem to have fixed this by adding text to the define page for the shipping and returns through the Admin section. I have done this and still nothing shows when clicking on the Shipping & Returns button…

Any other ideas? 

Maybe I should add that I had put in the Aust Post shipping addon, which I have since removed, but to be honest I do not recall when the shipping & returns link stopped working... eitherway, I replaced the files on the server with a backup taken just before the AustPost files were added...

Did you put a copy of your modified file in the proper PARISH override folder?

Looks like the debugger is saying that Zencart is looking for that file in template_default.

Re: "Shipping & Returns" page and shipping issues

Do you have BOTH these files on your server?

/includes/languages/english/html_includes/define_shippinginfo.php
/includes/languages/english/html_includes/PARISH/define_shippinginfo.php

And what are the permissions on those files?

What version of Zen Cart are you using?
What addons/contributions have you installed?

Re: "Shipping & Returns" page and shipping issues

Hi mate,

thanks for the reply, to answer your questions;

yes I have both these files on the server and the permissions on both are 644

I am using version V1.3.8a

For the addons i had installed the AustPost addon, but wasnt happy with this so I have restored the files to what they were before the addon was put on.

I have also tried the Stock by attribute addon, which was also removed.

the only addon now it the greybox addon...

thanks heaps,

Yann

I have played around with the css files, could anything I have played with in there be the cause? I have compared my css file with the original and only the changes I have made to colours and sizes of wrappers appear...

Re: "Shipping & Returns" page and shipping issues

What happens if you set the permissions on those 2 files to 777 ? (or 755 if your server croaks when setting to 777)?

Do you have a file named /includes/templates/PARISH/templates/tpl_shippinginfo_default.php? What happens if you rename it to tpl_shippinginfo_default.php1 ?

And if that doesn't work, re-upload these 2 files to your server, using the originals that were distributed by Zen Cart in the v1.3.8a package:

  • /includes/modules/pages/shippinginfo/.
  • /includes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_shippinginfo_default.php

Re: "Shipping & Returns" page and shipping issues

I dug up a post that was talking about blank pages after a fresh install and changing the permissions on that file to 777 fixed it so I tried that earlier today and still nothing...

if i edit it through admin > define pages and take a look at the file, the text I have added is in the file, but still doesnt want to show in the website... thanks again for helping out...
