Image Popup is too small

Can anybody help, I have uploaded my Zen cart and all photo's and the info to go with the photo's, 'but' when you click on the image, the big popup is smaller than the picture, I have tried increasing the size of the popup box which has not worked. You can view the problem at http://www.cornishmaid.co.uk You will see that every popup photo is bigger than the box?

I looked with Firefox and IE. Both looked fine. If the image were really larger than the popup box, you'd have scroll bars to change the view.

Since I posted I found a page with 'resize();' so I deleted the () and it cured the problem. I will find the page again and post the address here in case anybody else had the same problem.

To make the image popup window show the picture the correct size without cutting the bottom off? I went to the following page:

includes/templates/template_default/popup_image/tpl_main_page.php

on this page near the top I found this line:

?>

I then deleted the () after resize so it looked like:

?>

to then centre the box I went to:

includes/modules/pages/product_info/jscript_main.php

after screen Y I changed left=150 to left=500 in both lines

My picture now shows correctly in the popup box and the box is in the centre. Hope this may help if anybody else has the same problem I had.:clap:

You realize that files in template_default will be overwritten with the next upgrade/update and your changes will be lost. Same with files where overrides aren't available. You should always copy the template_default files into your custom template folder on the same level and edit that version.

If I edit a file where overrides aren't available, I create a custom folder anyway to keep a copy of my changes (the custom folder won't be used by Zen Cart). That way, I can compare the changed file to the latest version of the file and duplicate the changes.

Unfortunately this didn't do it for me. :dontgetit Oh, well I will keep looking.

Thank you for suggesting to backup the files I have changed, I have now done it. I just went to your website, very nice as well, but notice you have the same problem as what I 'had', with the popup box being too small for the picture's. Maybe Zen Cart should write a patch to correct it. (suggestion):cool:

It does not matter what size the image is, (our images are 400x 100) the pop up box will not show it correctly, check out every zen cart in the showcase and you will see they all have the same problem, the pop up box is always an 1" (25mm) too short for the image. Then go to our site and check, you will see we have cured the problem....http://www.cornishmaid.co.uk also if you go to the sites that you have on your very own search engine you will also see that they are the same: I found this one for you as an example, you will see the pop up box is an 1" (25mm) too short it will stay that much too short regardless of the size of the image inside of it, the only way I have found to stop this, I have posted above....hope this helps you resizing the image will not work. http://www.dirseeker.com/Electronics/Automotive/ As I also said maybe the writers of Zen Cart should write a patch to cure this problem as it is on everybodies site.

At This DEMO Site selecting "larger Image for me with FireFox produces a pop-up full size with no ladder bars horizontal or vertical and image size is 200x160 - it is only a demo site...

None the less for others seeing the same issue _ I am sure appreciate you sharing

I checked out your demo site in bith Firefox and Explorer 7 and your popup window is the same as I explained, none of the pop up windows are displaying the image correctly, if you go back to your demo site and open a pop up window, say for instance the computer mouse, then drag the bottom of the pop up downwards you will see it will show more. This is not that bad for that type of image, but if you had an image that had to be shown completely then it is not good at all and a simple patch would sort the problem out.

In fact if you check postings you will see Zen Cart had this problem as far back as 2004!

I do have a major problem that is how do you edit the product info using the html editor, if I use it then click preview it just disappears, in fact it deleted our shop yesterday.

Any ideas welcome

Did anyone find a definitive fix for this ? I have added some text to the bottom of an image and the text is cut out of the larger popup image. Cornishmaid's suggestion didn't work for me so I'm wondering whether anyone has found another solution. Thanks

Yes, I also see only zen carts with poor pop-up-image handling. This in in Firefox 2.0.0.x and Firefox 3.0.1, in IE 7 and Safari and Opera. I do not know, if Zen Carts way to open popup images ever worked correctly or so say user-friendly.

I would like to introduce xt:commerce's way to produce popup-images: they provide the additional images as thumbnails in the popup and switch images in the popup window itself.

Is it possible to do that in zen cart, too? Is there a module for image handling in that way which I did not find so far?

OK, I have to admit: I controlled the popups in Safari 3.12 and Opera 9.5.2 and FF 2.0.16 - and they work as expected: resizing to the actual image size of the large image.

So the missing resizing is a problem with FF 3 !

Nevertheless I would appreciate a solution for the additional images as a list of thumbnails in the popup-Window for the large image. Does anybody know a way to achieve this?

I have the same problem: the size of the window is the same for all my images, regardless of the size of the image.... So no default in the version I use (the latest)?
And as a result, a lot of images are larger than the window. I tried changing the original code window.open(url,'popupWindow','toolbar=no,location=no,directories=no,status=no,menubar=no,scrollbars=no,resizable=yes,copyhistory=no,width=100,height=100,screenX=150,screenY=150,top=150,left=150')
located in the jscript_main.php of the product_info in pages (modules, include)
but that does not have any influence on the size..

Is it overruled somewhere (and if so, where can I change it?)

Upon rereading, I saw I did not state this correctly: the sizes are not the same, but they are all a little bit too short to display the full image...
perhaps I don't need to change the "overruling" (if there is any) but I just need to make the default window slightly larger than the image...?

What I've done is to add a bit of white space to the bottom of the images. Not very elegant but it works until someone finds a proper fix.

Apparantly, the size of the window is calculated before the status bar at the bottom is added, which creates this problem. It is not clear to me how to remove this bar.

I also thought about extra space but I have more than 2000 pictures which have to be adapted...

But I have been searching and searching (and searching) and I stumbled upon this post

in which you can prevent the window from being resized. If you give the proper window sizes and scrollbar=yes in (a copy of) include . modules . pages . product_info . script_main.php this should work also.
Not the most elegant solution, but useful I hope
