Change Box Borders

I am using the classic version of zen, And i am REALLY new to the code stuff.
I am trying to change the green border of my boxes and such to black and my page background to a nice medium gray color.

I have looked around the forum here till my eyes were watering for some info to do these two things and cant seem to find a link......
