Can i put a shipping price per category

This is my first Zen site - it is bridal wear
I have categories of products
They are
Bridal dresses
Bridesmaids Dresses
Flower Girls
Veils
Tiaras
etc
The client wants a shipping price that is 25 for dresses under 299
20 for Flower Girls
8 for Tiaras
8 for veils
etc
THEN different prices again if going to UK and Europe

I have a multiple discount that I am working out by specifying handling charges.

Please can anyone tell me if I can put a shipping charge to a category. OR how would be the best way to do this.

Would using the Per Unit perweightunit work for you?

This uses the products_weight as the actual shipping charge ...

So if you enter Product Weight as 25.00 the shipping is $25.00 ...

You could then clone the Per Unit perweightunit shipping module for UK and Europe and change the Unit charge from 1.00 to 1.25 or 1.50 etc.

So, the Product Weight set as 25.00 on a clone of Per Unit perweightunit that is set to a Unit Rate of 1.25 would be $31.25 and one at a Unit Rate of 1.5 would be $37.50 ...

NOTE: when using the Per Unit Rate perweightunit as your shipping, you will want to adjust the settings in the Shipping/Packaging as you are using the products_weight as a price vs weight and the Maximum Weight of 50 will cause a problem so raise that higher and the Tare rates should be changed to 0:0 unless you have some additional amount you want added to the charges ...
