Deactivating Max: qty display in product listing

Hi
Could someone please tell me how to turn off the line in the product listings page display which says "Max: 1" ? All my products are unique and only ever have a qty of 1 so this line is pretty much redundant.
I have searched high and low and now reached a dead end.

Easiest is to not set a max when you create the product and leave it set to "0" /off

Then in admin > config > stock > set settings to show sold out or not display after the stock is "0"
