adding downloadable products after update from 1.2.6

i posted this in the update board but have gotten no responses so I thought it might be better to post it here...

I just updated a site to 1.2.6. Now we are trying to add downloads to one of our products and we have added them following this tutorial: https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=71

but they do not show up in the product either before or after purchase.

Currently we have the product set to free.

Where is your site so that all can view the issue directly?

Many volunteers here will not bother posting any response if you do not include a link to your site.
Myself included, typically do not as issues can not be seen without a link

While you state that you followed the tutorial - I do not see any attributes for this item???

Did you setup the attributes for it? If so where are they displayed?

not to be rude.. but i did say in my original post that this was the problem. I did setup the attributes according to the tutorial and nothing shows up.

I am at a loss of how to explain this.. so sorry if none of what I am saying is helping. and again TIA.

I do not see any mention of "Attributes" in your post only adding downloads and the term "they" which could mean "downloads" or "attributes" ???
