giving images friendly names- using image handler

Hello all, I hope this is the best category to post this question. We are trying to give our images friendly names. However for example, when we name an image necklace.jpg on the file system, zen cart renames the image. I noticed this by surfing to the web page that has the necklace image and viewing source. Zen Cart renames the image to something like: http://www.spendyourhusbandsmoney.com/bmz_cache/3/3872e43c80923d617da3c42bb2202e44.image.124x120.jpg

Is there a way to maintain a friendly name for each of our images?

Thanks,
Joy Crossley

Re: giving images friendly names- using image handler

Zen Cart itself will not rename your images. Image Handler 2 will use the kind of image filenames you show, and I do not think there is any practical way around that.

Re: giving images friendly names- using image handler

hey there,

thanks for the response! but, we are naming our image necklace.jpg and this imagehandler is renaming it as a GUID. e.g.: http://www.spendyourhusbandsmoney.com/bmz_cache/3/3872e43c80923d617da3c42bb2202e44.image.124x120.jpg

So are you saying there is absolutely no way to have image names on zencart that make sense?

Thanks,
Joy Crossley

Re: giving images friendly names- using image handler

Not if you are using IH2, apparently.

Without that, there is no impediment to naming images exactly as you want.

Re: giving images friendly names- using image handler

Joy,

Your profile is set to not receive messages, so I am posting a response to your PM about the Image Titles mod since I had it already written. Generally, posting in the mod support thread is the best way to get help or information.

I don't have a live demo site, unfortunately.
I have advised on or looked at a number of sites using Image Titles, but don't have the addresses of any at hand, except this one: http://www.wpc-consulting.com/~stxmill/
It is a work in progress, but currently shows sidebox image titles.
The original site I developed Image Titles for is eclecticaclothing.com, but unfortunately they seem to be "under construction" and unavailable right now.

Essentially, it looks like whatever you want it to look like. You supply the graphics and save the image files according to a naming convention, and they will automatically replace the heading text where appropriate. You can make the heading images whatever size you want.
