How to create a custom centerbox?

Hello,

I would like to create a centerbox, similar to "Featured Products", "Upcomping Products", "Special Products" etc.

What are the files and folders I will have to create and which files I should modify? I tried to clone the "Featued Products" module to no avail. I'm not sure what I'm missing.

I want to populate a custom center box with the newest products from a single specific category - instead of featured or all new products.
