Footer not showing

I cannot get the footer to show on my music instruments site. I have spent hours researching this and searching the forums trying every possible solution I've come across, unfortunately I have been unable to get my footer to show. The site is Music Instruments. I have attempted to change the $flag_disable_footer = true; (in tpl_footer.php) in every possible way described in these forums and other solutions. I know it's not the custom template because initially it had the footer. I would appreciate any ideas someone may have.:frusty:

Re: Footer not showing

The problem is unlikely to actually be anything to do with your footer (unless you still have $flag_disable_footer = true; in which case you have turned the footer off.

Rather I suspect that the problem is that your site is falling over before it gets to the footer.

Are you using Zen Cart 1.3.8a? If so you need to get the debug mod and use it to find what out php error when to site falls over.

Otherwise my best guess here is that you have cut and pasted information from Microsoft Word into your site, carrying with it some Microsoft rubblish that browsers can't work with, causing a cascade of structural errors that eventually bring your site to its knees.

Re: Footer not showing

Kuroi - thanks for your response. All instances of $flag_disable_footer = true; is commented out. I am running 1.3.8a. I agree, copy and pasted info from MS Word into a site is a big no no, all of my edits come from macromedia dreamweaver. However, the only edits I have done to core and module files with this site is some CSS edits and payment mod edits. I haven't installed any plugins either which confuses me. I will install the debug mod and report back if it shows any errors.

Re: Footer not showing

That is strange, when I added that text I first formatted the text and it's structure in Dreamweaver - although now I remember I added modifications with the free shipping on all musical instruments and dreamweaver wasn't giving me the formatting that I wanted so I used an online HTML editor, that must've been how it got there. Thanks for pointing that out. I removed that but unfortunately it did not correct the problem.

I ran the debug mod and this is what it pulled up:

[18-Aug-2008 10:58:19] PHP Warning: require(includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes/tpl_tabs_specials.php) [<a href='function.require'>function.require</a>]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /{HIDDEN}/{HIDDEN}/public_html/musicalwholesale/includes/modules/sideboxes/specials_tabs.php on line 15
[18-Aug-2008 10:58:19] PHP Fatal error: require() [<a href='function.require'>function.require</a>]: Failed opening required 'includes/templates/template_default/sideboxes/tpl_tabs_specials.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /{HIDDEN}/{HIDDEN}/public_html/musicalwholesale/includes/modules/sideboxes/specials_tabs.php on line 15

I checked if /includes/modules/sideboxes/specials_tabs.php existed and it did, all of the spelling appears to be accurate - Any ideas?

Re: Footer not showing

I went ahead and disabled the Special Tabs in the Layout Boxes controller and that brought the footer back and I'm sure the error is gone - I wish I knew what was generating the error though so that I can have that option. Anyways, Kudos and thanks to to kuroi who came up with the idea that the site was "falling over". and thank you clydejones for pointing out that nasty MS word code on my index page.

Re: Footer not showing

I have a similar problem. The page stops loading before it gets to the 'Whats New' (<!-- bof: whats_new -->) section. This means the footer also does not load. The problem seems to be intermittent, i.e. only happens about 40% of the time - the rest of the time it works fine.

I have only just noticed it so I assume it has happened recently. I have just expanded the details of 'HEADING_TITLE', I expect this has something to do with it.

I have tried running the debug tool but does not create a file so I assume there is no php error?

Would someone mind having a look for me?

You might have to refresh the page (home page) a few times before the New Products, and Footer DO NOT appear.

Re: Footer not showing

My footer doesnt show neither. I look at my source of the main page. I saw some are "eof" and some are "bof" Is either one a bad code? should it be eof or bof?? I probably have copied some MSN word that caused the problem..Can someone have a look please?? using 1.39h version
