modules admin page failing after test upgrade

I exported my database and made a copy of my ZenCart files. I created a new database and uploaded the standard 1.3.8a file to my server, and used the zc_install folder to update the test database. There were 7 skipped exceptions.

I decided to try things out anyway. Everything seems fine with both the customer areas and admin areas, with the exception of Payment, Shipping, and Order modules.

When I attempt to edit/install the modules in these three areas, the right-hand side of the table (with a dark green header) where the options are entered disappears and the rest of the table spreads the width of the page. The Zencart logo and other footer information also disappears, which has me thinking the page is not loading completely for some reason.

Do I have to remove any custom modules (like beanstream payment module) and/or turn off all the other modules before creating the database export?

Here is a list of my database upgrade exceptions:

SKIPPED: Cannot ADD column module_name because it already exists.
SKIPPED: Cannot ADD column module_mode because it already exists.
SKIPPED: Cannot create table nochex_apc_transactions because it already exists
SKIPPED: Cannot create table nochex_sessions because it already exists
SKIPPED: Cannot create table nochex_sessions because it already exists
SKIPPED: Cannot create table nochex_sessions because it already exists
SKIPPED: Cannot create table nochex_sessions because it already exists
SKIPPED: Cannot CHANGE column zen_order_id because it does not exist.
SKIPPED: Cannot CHANGE column zen_order_id because it does not exist.
SKIPPED: Cannot ALTER or INSERT/REPLACE into table linkpoint_api because it does not exist. CHECK PREFIXES!

Anyone with a brilliant idea?

Re: modules admin page failing after test upgrade

Read thru this FAQ, and try the utility mentioned in step 2a, applying it to the admin side.

You can ignore the upgrade exceptions -- most of those are because the things it was trying to do had already been done, or did not need to be done.

As to other payment modules, if the files for the modules "do" exist and are compatible with the version you're upgrading to, there should be no reason to uninstall them before upgrading.

Thanks DrByte. The debugging did come up with a fatal error:

PHP Fatal error: Call to undefined function test_cfg_select_option() in /home/www/mealsformums.com/htdocs/test/admin/modules.php(282) : eval()'d code on line 1

And I think I know what's wrong.

The orginal install was created with a zen_ table prefix (not my doing), and so to test everything out I created a new table set with a test_ prefix (web host only allows one database). I used a text search and replace to change all instances of zen_ with test_ in my exported sql file -- and there are almost 300 calls to zen_cfg_select_option() in the database that have been switched to test_cfg_select_option.

I might just have to try backing everything up and upgrading the live version. Who knows how many zen_ function calls are in my tables...

Yes, a global search-and-replace for "zen_" is a bad idea.
