Shipping to different zones, different prices...

Would someone know what is the best way to achieve this shipping charge scenario? Or, if it's possible.

I need to setup three shipping zones...

Zone 1 = U.S.
Zone 2 = Canada
Zone 3 = International (Everywhere else in the world besides Canada)

Shipping to the U.S (Zone 1) is $6.50 for Priority Mail for any number of items.

Shipping to Canada (Zone 2) is $6.50 for up to three items and .25 cents for each additional item.

Shipping to International (Zone 3) is $8.50 for up to two items and .50 for each additional item.

We also would like to add the Express Mail (Overnight) option for the U.S. but I think that will be a little tricky as it will need to consider weight and postal zone. We're located in Montana, so shipping to Oregon would be less expensive than the same package shipped to Florida.

I'm not quite sure how to add the zones. When I edit a shipping module in the admin the only zone that's in the dropdown is Florida. How do I define other zones?

Thanks for any help.

Re: Shipping to different zones, different prices...

Pardon me, while I think out loud here...

For the first one above, Zone 1 (U.S.) I think I would just need to use the Flat Rate method. But, there's not a U.S. zone in the dropdown menu, just Florida. How do I add and define a new zone?

Thanks for indulging me. :P

Re: Shipping to different zones, different prices...

Oh, I feel dumb. I didn't see the "Details" button when defining a zone in the Admin under Locations/Taxes. I wasn't finishing adding the zone by filling in the details.

I tried the U.S. Shipping as Zone Rates like this...

Zone 1 = US
Zone 1 Shipping Table = 1:6.50,2:6.50,3:6.50,4:6.50,5:6.50,6:6.50,7:6.50,8:6.50,9:6.50,10:6.50,11:6.50,12:6.50,13:6.50,14:6.50,15:6.50,16:6.50,17:6.50,18:6.50,19:6.50,20:6.50,

(Meaning everything up to 20 items is still $6.50 for shipping.)

Then I went and defined a shipping zone as U.S. and enabled the Free Shipping Options.

Under the Free Shipping Options I put in 200.00 where it says, "Free Shipping when Total >=" and chose my U.S. zone that I had just created. This works for the U.S. shipping except when you checkout it lists "Free Shipping Options" and "Zone Rates" for your shipping choices.

Is there a way to do what I did above but after they hit the $200.00 mark the "Zone Rates" choice disappears since it's irrelevant now?

Thanks!

for what you have tried to do above, you only needed to put in " 20:6.50 " as it only requires you to put the maximum number of items or dollar amount you want to allow the shipping price located after the colon.

Is there a way to do what I did above but after they hit the $200.00 mark the "Zone Rates" choice disappears since it's irrelevant now?

I am not sure how to make the "Zone Rates" dissapear, but you could always change your zone rates so it said something like ```
100:6.50,1000:0

As far as your previous post for overnight shipping, the easiest method is going to be use the UPS shipping module (if you are going to ship using them) as that shipping module gets live quotes from the UPS server... as long as your weights are correct, the shipping costs should be relitivly accurate (as with every thing in Zen Cart, you'll want to test... test... and re-test any changes you make... and multiple quantities in your shopping cart to get your most accurate rate quotes.

Hope this gives you some ideas.

Re: Shipping to different zones, different prices...

Okay, I set up Zone 2 (Canada) similar to Zone 1 (see above) and after it hits 20 items it's $0.00.

1:6.50,2:6.50,3:6.50,4:6.75,5:7.00,6:7.25,7:7.50,8:7.75,9:8.00,10:8.25,11:8.50,12:8.75,13:9.00,14:9.25,15:9.50,16:9.75,17:10.00,18:10.25,19:10.50,20:10.75,99:0.00

I set up Zone 3 (Everywhere else except U.S. and CA) like this as well.

Zone = 00 (<-- I love that new "00" thing, my other cart has a loooong list of ISO country codes)

1:8.50,2:8.50,3:9.00,4:9.50,5:10.00,6:10.50,7:11.00,8:11.50,9:12.00,10:12.50,11:13.00,12:13.50,13:14.00,14:14.50,15:15.00,16:15.50,17:16.00,18:16.50,19:17.00,20:18.00,99:0.00,

(After 20 items shipping is $0.00)

I think this is going to work. Now I just need to figure out how to offer Express Mail (overnight) to the U.S. Different zones, different prices. If anyone has a workable solution for this I be grateful to hear it.

I'm happy now about the other zones. My brain was getting tired!
