Additional customer fields

I have downloaded Additional Customer Fields module that is add-on section of the main zen site. But for some reason, as soon as I apply the sql patch, it gives me the following error:

1054 Unknown column 'field_date' in 'field list'
in:
[INSERT INTO customers_additional (field_id, field_name, field_date, field_required, use_url, field_url, field_status) VALUES (NULL, 'test', '2008-08-29', '0', '0', '', '0')]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

Does anyone know how to fix it? Or maybe someone could help add an additional field into the customer registration page? I really need it! Please! :lamo:

Re: Additional customer fields

How did you install it? I tried to download the latest version and I get a .rar file not zip. I can't do anything with it.

How did you download and install the file?

You just need to copy the admin and includes folders to your zen folder. The Docs folder is just documentation on the mod. Please read the manual.ppt with step by step instructions on how to install the mod.

Re: Additional customer fields

You might want to look at the (very long) support thread for this mod for information. Continuing the discussion there is probably better than scattering it in different threads.
It appears TheOracle came back to the forum in May '08 (after 11 months absence) to post another update which he says fixes all the bugs. I would want to verify that before trying to install it on a live site.

Re: Additional customer fields

Yes I have installed the MOD as per instructions and I also get the same error:

1054 Unknown column 'field_required' in 'field list'
in:
[ SELECT field_id, field_name, field_required, field_status, use_url, field_url FROM customers_additional]
If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.

Of course the store also does not show. I looked at other threads but did not find anything on this error after installation.

I also got the same error. I couldn't solve it, so I had to get rid of the mod unfortunately. The idea is great, I guess it's not that easy to implement it.

Re: Additional customer fields

Well I got MOD to work. I totaly got rid of my database and then created a new database with the same name like you first do. then I restored my backup database. Well when I want to the MOD under customers the error message was gone and the MOD actually worked. However I created a new field but it does not show up on the registration form like it is suppose to so once again I am stuck however the field does exist in the database now.

Here is another way of adding additional customer fields. http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=73181 I've found this thread, but didn't yet have time to try it. See if this helps you in anyway.

Hi,

Is this the same MOD I would use if I want to add more fields for address book not on CUSTOMER INFO?

Thanks.

Re: Additional customer fields

I wouldn't advise trying to use TheOracle's mod if you are not thoroughly competent with PHP. The thread mentioned in post 9 looks like a much more reliable method, albeit you have to do all the steps yourself. If you are careful, it seems you should be able to make it work.
