change of name and domain question

I am undergoing a business name change. This is a probelm when it comes to my site as my domian name will be changing.

zencart uses hard coded links ie http://www.mysite.co.uk/index.php?main_page=contact_us and not relevant links like ./?main_page=contact_us

this poses a probelm when i come to change the domain on the site. is there a way inwhich i can chane the link to a relevant link so that i i can use my new domain and my old domain??

or how do i go about changing the domian on zencart so its no longer uses my old name and uses my new name/domain??

Re: change of name and domain question

Change the settings in admin/includes/configure.php and includes/configure.php. You can change the domain name there.

Do you want them pointed to the same Zen Cart?

Re: change of name and domain question

yeah exactally the same site just with 2 domians. i have 3 domains running on www.fire2you.co.uk www.fire2u.co.uk but if you go to www.fire2u.co.uk and then click a link the head changes to fire2you.co.uk, just wondered if it was possible to have it so it remains on the omain that the customer came in on. ont know if it will effect the email etc though

Re: change of name and domain question

Since we know that Zen Cart uses absolute links, not relative, what you want to do cannot or should not be done through Zen Cart. Instead, you should setup Domain name Pointing / Redirection within your Registrar. That is also the way Search Engines prefer it and don't penalize you for two Domains pointing to the same site.

If you park/point "fire2u.co.uk" through your Registrar it will change the Domain name within the Browser to use "fire2you.co.uk". As your Zen Cart config files would also be using "fire2you.co.uk", there is no problem with eMails.

The learning is in the doing.
