renaming "catalog" folder issues.

Quick question. For SEO reasons, I've decided to rename the 'catalog' folder in my zen cart store... not sure if this is a brilliant move or not, but, it's what i've determined non-the-less.

That said, I followed the tutorial found here very closely.
https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=122

I double checked everything, but when I completed that tutorial and tried to browse the site I received this message.

"The requested URL /sermonvideos/zc_install/index.php does not exist."

for reference, I changed the folder from "catalog" to "sermonvideos" and tried to browse by going to "beamerfilms.com/sermonvideos/"

Hope that makes since. I've sinced put the site back to it's original form, but is there a quick answer to why it was attempting to call on that install/index.php file?

Thanks for any help.

Re: renaming "catalog" folder issues.

Zen Cart will attempt to invoke zc_install/index.php if it finds invalid information in your configure.php files.
"Invalid" refers to incorrect settings and/or if when it uses those settings to try and locate the various Zen Cart files, it can't find them ... presumably because they are pointing to folders that don't exist.

Thanks for the info. Presumeably, the info on that tutorial is correct, right? I'm referencing this;

Are their any additional steps that are required beyond what's laid out in the tutorial? Thanks again,

Re: renaming "catalog" folder issues.

I am have the same problem too. I just want for my customers to be able to type in my address diamondaffairsjewelry.com instead of diamondaffairsjewelry.com/catalog. Am I following the right tutorial? When I did it I got a 404 error and had to put everything back. If that is not the right answer how can I accomplish my goal.

Re: renaming "catalog" folder issues.

That is the right tutorial.

A 404 error means "not found" ... which suggests that you didn't move all the files to the new location.
