safari issues?

i installed the clickable sidebox from kuroi and ran into a problem with a mac user running the latest os and safari.

my store has two clickable sideboxes. One called "Contact Information" and another with two logos in it.

The Contact information one comes up with four "?" on each line instead of the links. Is this because it needs the alt text? has anyone else had this? does anyone know what causes this?

The question mark must be Safari's way of saying that it can't find the images, like the boxes with the red 'X' I'm seeing when I view your site in IE7.

Might be a wrong path to the images.

I guess I'm not sure why you used an image of text when text itself would have worked, though.

image of text? not sure i follow you. as i said i have two add-on boxes. "contact information" and the one at the very bottom which has two images, i just refer to it as the "logo" box, it has the paypal and ssl cert image.

I did not use an image of text in the "contact information" i hate ie7 with a passion and would prefer not to install it hehe... any more specific information you can give me?

hmm same thing happens in ie 6. i will look into this. thanks for the information. i know if i get it to work in ie6 it should probably work for safari. thanks.

i tested it in firefox, opera & netscape... just known the company that makes standards not to follow standards would have an issue.

Well, when I right-click on the links in your 'Store Contact Information' sidebox, and click on Properties, they show as http://www.scarreddreams dot net/store/includes/templates/template_default/images/picture1.jpg

The others are picture 2, 3 and 4.

Not Microsoft's fault this time. What you're seeing in Firefox is the alt text.

yah, i noticed that just before i had to run outta the house for work this morning. I'm working on the issue as we speak.

I hardcoded the url into the tpl_blank_sidebox.php file but left the exmaple1.png etc. etc. etc. etc. etc. inside the single quotes because i was using firefox/netscape/opera to test it and it never showed up on any of those.

Safari and ie saw the links and no pictures could be found... figured it was a safari only thing. Dont have any macs here, once i saw ie6 was doing the same thing just looked at the source code... but as i said was unable to let you know i figured it out.

do want to say thanks for looking into it though. these forums have been a huge help and i love the support everyone gives.

hmm well i cant seem to find a way to comment what the store is generating.

out the img src="includes/templates/prosilver/images/"

so that the store does not create an image link for ie and safari.

I just want a text link, but however the "blank_sidebox" addon is working creates a clickable link/image. Which is only half of what i really want heh.

I have to say you're confusing me.

The blank sidebox is exactly that - blank. Anything it's doing inside is something you told it to do.

If you want text links they would just be the standard HTML: <a href="URL">Name</a>

yah, i was confusing myself too... thats what happens when a crackhead wakes you up at 4am after only getting 3 hours of sleep... she was looking for pixie.... the crackhead used the last of their quarters on a pay phone and mis-dialed... who knew they could count... ( <--- not bitter )

found an easier solution, i turned off the sidebox and just created an ez-page with the same links... its an easier solution than screwing around with someone's else code... that and the site is now live lol.
