header search box size

Can someone tell me how to change the length of the search box in the header of the site?

look for this file:

includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/sideboxes/tpl_search_header.php

open it and then edit this value:

'size="6" maxlength="40" style="width: 150px" value="'

I had already increased mine to 150px

if you post the url to your site we can take a quick look... and make a suggestion on how to fix it.

As schmurray said : Go to includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE/sideboxes/tpl_search_header.php

There, you have** 2** things to change : (the value in red is what needs to be modified)

To change the size of the box which you type in, you need to look for and change :
'size="6" maxlength="30" style="width: 170px"

This should appear TWICE on your file. You might need to change both.

Then, to change the size of the Search button, you need to look for and change :
HEADER_SEARCH_BUTTON . '" style="width: 70px"

I ain't a Zen Wizard but i hope it would help others.

sorry to resurrect an old thread, but I'm having the same problem. Everything I've found says to alter the tpl_search_header.php located in my custom template folder, and I've tried this several times to no avail.

I hope to have the site online soon for testing but for now it's just on my local server; is there anyone else who's had a similar issue and found a solution?
