How do I split the shipping countries/cost

Furthermore I wonder if it's even possible.

OK here's what I need to do and after searching through the forums and the like I haven't exactly found what I was looking for.

I like most people, drop ship their items straight to the person because I personally do not have the space to carry that much stuff. All of my suppliers offer drop shipping with flat rates to the US and anything that gets shipped to Canada varies.

Now is it possible for me to set up separate rates for people who are shipping to the US and another one for the increased cost of shipping to Canada?

I would need to do something like this:

Purchase $1-10 shipping to the lower 48 states is x amount
Purchase(s) to Canada are generally based on weight and I would need the shipping module to reflect that if possible. so let's say 10lbs to Canada via UPS is 10 dollars and USPS is 12.00 and so on.

I'm trying to do almost the same thing.

I need shipping to the US to be based on total order cost:
up to $13.99 order total is $5 shipping
$14-$50.99 is $10 shipping, etc.

Then for orders to Canada I need to base it on weight.

I believe this can be accomplished by cloning the zone shipping module but not sure about that. I might work on it tonight, if I get anywhere I'll post my results here. If anyone else reading this knows if this is the right path I'd appreciate hearing some confirmation. :smile:
