neat javascript expand/collapse sadly messes up IE6 layout only

I've included some javascript to expand and collapse sections of attributes and it works very well for me, to let users add special custom attributes to products and select different variations that are non-standard. I like to hide them because there can be quite a few attributes and not everyone will want to or need to specify them all.

The only issue is that the javascript is messing up the layout in IE6, such that the sideboxes on the right get punted to the bottom of the page. Not very nice.

This javascript works great in IE7, IE8, Firefox, Safari (mac and windows), and Chrome. It's only IE6 that gets messed up. It has to do with the center column elements getting too wide and overflowing into the sidebox area and then the browser puts them below the main center content instead of just leaving them on the side. Or, maybe its that after the script runs the center column is shifted to the right. Only in IE6.

I'm not too sure how to get this sorted out - if it would be something in the stylesheet or in the code. Any help would be appreciated.

I took the javascript from here:

An example of a problem page on my site:

Re: neat javascript expand/collapse sadly messes up IE6 layout only

for anyone following, I've managed to fix this. The issue was the first region of the expand/collapse was set within another div tag and all other feature regions within the expand/collapse zone were further down the page. Moving the first zone further down the page right before the first expand/collapse region seems to agree more with IE6. Also, all of the regions are now within a single div tag.

Re: neat javascript expand/collapse sadly messes up IE6 layout only

Hi there,

Is anyone able to please tell me how you would go about making the attributes collapsible into groups like what has been done:

http://www.mystylishwedding.com/store/invitations/black-and-white-bride-groom-gatefold-wedding-invitation-set ?

I understand how to include the javascript onto the products pages, however -

  • How are you able to get the attributes to display in groups like this?
  • Where do you place the trigger class or divs to get the collapse /expand to work?
-How/Where do you create each trigger label e.g. the Click here for :Invitations etc?

If anyone would be able to point me in the right direction on how to go about implementing something similar, it would be very very much appreciated.

I am using v1.3.9d

Thanks
