Stop products from being added to cart.

Is there a away to stop a product to be added to the cart, besides giving an out of stock option. Here is my situation.

I am running a digital music store, where the products are albums, but in order for the user to be able to pick and choose individual tracks, I made each track a product attribute.

The problem I am having is someone can click on the product and select add to cart, before adding any tracks or the attribute for the full album. I would like to be able to pop up a message asking them to make a track or album selection, instead of adding a $0.00 item into their cart.

Can this be done easily?

You probably need to look at making the attributes "REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES".

There are many posts inb the forum on working with REQUIRED ATTRIBUTES.

When attributes are required, a product cannot be added to the cart until that required attribute has been selected.

Thanks for the reply, unfortuately I am still having trouble after reading the required attribute threads. I tried making the attributes required but I could still add the product to the cart without selecting an attribute.

Each song in my store is an attribute (checkbox) you can seleect multiple songs which makes sense. I would like to have a way to force the user to select one item , and if they try to add nothing to the cart pop up a message saying you must add an album or track.

Unfortunately, you are using checkboxes for this and checkboxes do not have, at this time, any kind of testing done to ensure a selection has been made ...
