Product URL???

I am just beginning to enter my products into the database and I am struck by the need to enter a product url when entering a new product.... what exactly am I referring to?

I'm lost here... the product url - isn't it automatically assigned by the program on the server? I'm lost. Prolly a real easy answer here... I've been up for 48 hours ... I'm really loving this zenning thingie....

I think that's for those occasions when you have a link to an outside site which features that product - a manufacturers page, for example. I've never used it.
