Width and changes of image in admin

Hi there.

in images folder (where the subfolder is attributes, categories etc are) i have my own folder called myimagges.

When uploading and saving images to this folder in admin in products->categories and prodcts, do i have to follow the override system and have the same name in the images folder as my template name?

The reason why i ask is because when i go to "Configuration->images" and try to set the width of "Category Icon Image Width - Product Info Pages", there is no change after i update my site.

For example i set it to 300 instead og 50, no change..

Any clue?
