Moving my site to a different URL

Hi,

I originally set up my site as a sub domain it resides in a file structure that looks like this -

jeffvalentstudios.com>public_html>jvspod

Subdomain URL is http://jvspod.jeffvalentstudios.com/

I now purchased https://www.jvspod.com and want to move the site to this URL. Can I just drag and drop the jvspod folder from the one site to the other with my FTP software or do I have to do a new, complete install?

Thanks

Jeff

Re: Moving my site to a different URL

if you do that, you will have to change the DOMAIN in the two config files, and if you are moving hosts too, then you will have to set the database up on the new host.

Re: Moving my site to a different URL

It is the same hosting company for the jeffvalentstudios.com and the jvspod.com, just different URLs.

There are no MySQL databases on the new URL. Should I just create the database on the jvspod.com site through the cPanel so that has the same name and password as the database on the subdomain site?

Thanks

Re: Moving my site to a different URL

just use the same database, you are not moving hosts so the database will stay the same, as long as you do not change the database information in the two config files, the old database will work.
