Nothing happens when trying to install

Hiya, completely new to zencart. Trying to follow the instructions but when I click open start page nothing happens. Anyone know why? Something tries to open but nothing does.

Could you provide a bit more information?

For example:

• Are you using MAMP or XAMPP on your Mac and what versions you are using?
• Which instructions were you following, is it from this thread?
• What are the specs for your Mac?
  Do remember to check that you have Personal Web Sharing for the Mac turned off as well.

Ah I just created a rather large thread detailing some of my problems. I am using what I assume to be the latest versions of the above mentioned programmes. I have no idea how to even find anywhere that says personal web sharing off. Perhaps I need a book.

Pls note that the book does not cover installation instructions for Zen Cart on a local Mac.

Setting up a local Zen Cart store is purely optional and is used mainly as a testing environment to try out different scenarios for your store.

You can also accomplish the same objective if you already have a web host that supports running Zen Cart on their servers. Just install your test Zen Cart store into a sub-directory (e.g. www.example.com/test) separate from your 'live' Zen Cart store (e.g. www.example.com or www.example.com/store).

How exactly would I do that? Sorry to be a pain this is all new to me. I have a website and they told me it supports zencart.
