Enabling SSL after installation

I am trying to enable SSL after I have installed and set up zen-cart. I have changed the configure.php files like this article tells me, too.

https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=14

However, when I test the site, I get the following error:

gacancerfoundation.org uses an invalid security certificate.

The certificate is only valid for www.gacancerfoundation.org

(Error code: ssl_error_bad_cert_domain)I don't know much about server issues...can someone tell me what I am doing wrong?

Thank you so much,
Ashley

Re: Enabling SSL after installation

You have your files in the tutorial you referenced as (space mine)

http: //gacancerfoundation.org/store/

and you need to edit them to read

http: //www.gacancerfoundation.org/store/

All instances

Re: Enabling SSL after installation

Ok, I did that but now when I log in as a user or as the admin, I go in circles....meaning, that it never logs me in. ???? I saved a back up of my original config file so I can go back to that if I need to.

Re: Enabling SSL after installation

No, whenever you try to log on, it doesn't. It acts like it accepts the password and then doesn't. I can't seem to get into the admin at all.

Re: Enabling SSL after installation

your admin config file...error
i.e.

define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'false');

should be

define('ENABLE_SSL_ADMIN', 'true');

I'll remove it but it was doing the same thing before I put that code there.

Re: Enabling SSL after installation

Awww...now, aren't you smart! Thanks so much! :clap:I guess that was it. I probably made the configure changes and the statcounter changes at the same time.

Do you know if it's possible to put some sort of counter in the code and if so where would I put it?

Pleased to hear that sorted your problem...
If you try putting any code that is not on your own domain
and covered by SSL cert, then you will experience same
problem that you have just rectified...
Suggest you use stats contained in zencart admin..

What about Google Analytics?
Again, if it links in anyway to outside site, such as google,
then problem will occur...Your SSL is far more important
to success of your site than introducing extras that affect
it working correctly..as i suggested, you can get all stats
you need from zencart admin and domain stats if your
webhost provides them..and they should.

Re: Enabling SSL after installation

Ok, now I am trying to do the same thing with this site..

https://www.causekeepers.com/superstore

I am wondering, though, because portions of the site (not the zen portion) are pointing to other domains, is that going to negatively affect the store having an SSL?

Re: Enabling SSL after installation

Actually, the admin SSL is working great. I get the following message when trying to log on as a shopper....

There was a security error when trying to login.

Try logging on as me...
