My next question which is kind of on the same topic .. is that the image on the product page as click to enlarge under it yet when you click it . It opens and makes the window and the size 150x150 yet if you drag the window up to the set size in the settings the large picture is there .. How do I set the window size to fit the large picture ( 640 ) as the large size .
For BOTH issues.. you need to reevaluate your settings and make sure you have uploaded ALL the files.. the homepage tabs CLEARLY don not have thumbnails set at the same size as the sizeboxes. So that tells me you do not have all the image settings that the readme recommends to get the image hover to work..

Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
Hi
I am having a issue with Image Handler not letting me add new images to my site. When I add an image it gives the location but when I press preview there is nothing there except the broken image picture.
I turned off IH and was then able to add images to products again..
I reloaded the files in the hope it was just an error with them ,but it has made no difference
Using 1.5.1
website

Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
I have been using IH4 for a while and it works perfectly. I used it to load & resize ALL of my product images.
With that said, I am wondering if there is a way to replace the images I have in there? I'm wanting to create a new watermarked photo to REPLACE my current product photos. Would I have to resize all of them manually myself, or is there a way to load them into IH4 and have the image replaced? Would I need to go into the product page to do this?
Sorry, I hope this makes sense.

It is a little difficult to identify what it is you are trying to do/having a problem with. Are you wanting to just change the watermark that can be automatically applied to all photos in your site, or are you wanting to replace a photo say for one particular product (that just happens to have a watermark already applied)?
If not mistaken and it may also depend on other cache related settings for the first one, whether required or not, I would upload the watermark and then in the admin panel for IH4 I would reset the cache or forgive me for not remembering the exact term, but basically force the cache'd photos to be recreated (which would force the merge of the watermark). For the second action (replace a photo), that's in the documentation, simply upload the photo using the IH4 panel to replace the photo(s) to be replaced. There are some workarounds if having to do this for multiple pictures, but those introduce the possibility of something going really wrong. Would suggest to stick with what works.

Like mc12345678, I'm not clear on what you are asking to do.. So let me say this.. IF you are asking is there some way to BULK replace all the product images with NEW product images using Image Handler the answer is NO. and a read through the Image Handle readme would have answered this question since there is no mention of any such feature.. That said as per the Image Handler readme, you can upload product image via FTP provided they use the SAME names as the existing images. You will need to clear the Image Handler cache, and Image Handler will re-generate all of the image optimized image sizes (small medium and small). If you are replacing the watermark, you will need to clear the Image Handler cache so that new images will be generated with the new watermarks.
If you have new images with NEW file names, you will have to modify EACH product to upload the new images, and you will have to clean out your image folder manually to remove the old images.
-
Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
I'm sorry I wasn't clear enough.
I created the watermarks myself so I probably shouldn't have mentioned that, as I forgot that IH4 can generate watermarks. I can see where that might have caused confusion.
I simply want to make new images and have them replace the images I have now, and (hopefully) have IH4 generate the sizes I need.
So to do this I would need to save the new images with the exact original name I used, upload them to my image folder via FTP, and then go into the zen cart IH4 admin to clear the cache and it should generate the resized images like it did originally? I sure hope I don't need to go in and update every single product individually as I have almost 1000 that I would have to sort through. :-(
Thanks, by the way, for your responses... it's appreciated!

It almost seems like something is not setup correctly outside of this "recent" function call. Did the setup work before you changed the admin path? What makes you think this new setup is going to prevent the same problem from happening again? There is something else that needs to be changed to prevent reoccurrence, and it is probably not associated with IH4.

Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
I just installed Image Handler 4 on an upgrade of a 1.3.9 site to 1.5.1. Image Handler 4 is NOT resizing my images as it is supposed to. I upload my large size image [600x900] into the DEFAULT box, but the images are not compressing and resizing. On my localhost, on a fresh 1.5.1 install, this does work correctly.

Having installed IH4 on a ZC V1.5.x. Site, then should have seen in the instructions that IH4 is only applicable to 1.5.x sites, and that there are other versions of IH to work on 1.3.9 and others. Read the first post to this thread: Hopefully this post will spare you of any further suggestion to be redirected.

If I understand correctly you upgraded from Zen Cart 1.3.9 to 1.5.1, and installed IH4.. It's not working.. The most common reason is that IH4 is installed incorrectly.. Suggest rolling back and re-installing IH4..

No.. they are there so that if you uninstall it can restore the previous version of the files.. (their purpose is explained in the readme..)
-
Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
Thanks, just was not clear if they still "could" be a security problem. One could always upload them again before uninstall if need be. But if they cause no harm, I'll leave them alone.

Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
Im sure Ive had this problem before but I cant remember the answer...
Ive installed IH4 and its all basically working but the link to enlarge images on my product pages is incorrect (I think).
The link code is:
/images/large/image-name__LRG.jpg
But I think it would work fine if it was
/images/image-name.jpg
When I click the image to enlarge it I just get a blank white overlay.
My large folder is there and has all permissions etc but there are no LRG.jpg files within it. The original files I upload when creating a product are the large, full size zoom pictures that I want to use. Im using a template monster theme and it has a lightbox type of setup zoom function.
The thumbnail on the product page is working fine, its from the bmz_cache folder.
Sorry if Ive missed something, searching this thread for LRG.jpg found nothing so I presume this question hasnt been answered before...
-
Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
Also I should add that adding any additional images works fine, uploading image-name_1.jpg shows the extra image on the page and clicking that thumbnail zooms the extra image into the lightbox zoom function.
Also using the firebug plugin and changing the code on the page to the correct image url allows everything to work fine as well.
So simply, where is my site getting this new link code from with the /large/ and the _LRG.jpg additions to the URL?

As stated in the readme (and few times in this support thread) You do NOT upload ANY images to the large or medium folders.. Upload your LARGEST image and IH4 will create the optimized small, medium, and large images..

Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
Hi, yes Ive been using IH3 for years and I understand the fundamentals.
But this is different, these products already had their images in place before I installed IH4.
Also I didnt say anywhere in my post that I put images in folders, Im saying the link that zencart is offering as a click to zoom link has /large/ and _LRG.jpg added to it.

That usually means that their are already images in the large folder for that product.
Delete those images and IH4 will take over and create the large image.
Existing images if found are used instead of IH4 generated images

Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
Well the large folder is empty apart from the watermark_LRG.jpg image.
Ive tried adding new products using the add product page to upload the image, the images are all going into the /images/ folder as expected, but the click to zoom link is always looking for a LRG jpg in the large folder...

Ooops I missed the "click to zoom" part
That NOT standard zencart or IH4 functionality.
You would be using another mod for that..
Find out which one and search for details on integrating it with IH4
-
Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
I thought it would be the same sort of setup as the other zoom systems mentioned in the IH4 instructions, ie Zen lightbox etc.
Maybe someone can point me in the right direction, which file in zencart generates the link from the main image on the product page to the full size version of that image?
Perhaps the standard zencart functionality doesnt do that? but 90% of all themes use some form of lightbox.
-

IH4 works with Zen Lightbox, Zen Colorbox, and Fual Slimbox.. If your theme is using some other lightbox, then you should check in with your theme creator for guidance on how to integrate it with IH4.. They would be better informed to answer this.. and you can START by asking them where in their code they hardcoded the link to the "large" image folder.

Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
Looking at the .js files it seems its "jQuery lightBox plugin"
Im not sure why it would be looking for a different URL for the image.
Ill ask templatemonster.... they usually arent much help.....

No hence why I refer to them as Template Monstrosity..
Suggest unhinging their lightbox and installing one that works with IH4..

Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
I am using zen cart 1.5.1 and have become concerned about the number of hacking attempts that I see in the server error logs.I am making an effort to beef up site security and believe the images folders are vulnerable.
Image Handler4 seems to need permissions of 755 on folders in the bmz_cache and 666 on image files within the cache in order to work properly. If I protect the bmz_cache folder with htaccess is that going to be hack resistant ?
-
Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
Well seems it was a very easy fix to the issue I asked about here earlier. Perhaps its more of a hack but its all working now.
I edited this line in main_product_image.php and removed large/
$products_image_large = DIR_WS_IMAGES . 'large/' . $products_image_base . IMAGE_SUFFIX_LARGE . $products_image_extension;
Then just changed the Product Info - Image Large Suffix to nothing from LRG and it now works fine.
Beats installing a whole new lightbox...
-
Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
there is already an htaccess file in the bmz_cache folder

Ha,yes, well, you were a bit ahead of me there then, ahem, obviously. What I am finding hard to believe is that .htaccess can protect a folder from unauthorised users even if the permissions on it and the files and folders in it are 777.I'm testing this, and it seems to be the case.Or am I missing something? Sorry,it's an impossible question to answer.Too many ifs and buts .It will prevent browser access by anyone, but is only safe if you're on a dedicated server secured against unauthorised sshd and sftp access.

You REALLY should start a new thread to discuss this.. Your general question is only moderately related to IH4.. You could apply the same question to the default images folder as well.. If you REALLY are concerned about security and .htaccess, start a new thread..

Sorry ,I was a bit freaked by a couple of bruteforce password attacks and didn't ask a coherent question. The main images folder is ok with normal permissions. If I have 644 on files in the bmz_cache I keep getting errors - failed to open bmz cache for writing, permission denied in lines 645 and 655 in bmz_image_handler.class.php.It runs without errors with world write permissions. Is there something I should correct,or is that as it should be?

Sounds like your hosting provider may be running PHP using the web server's account (instead of an account created specifically for your website). In this case the web server's account must have write permission to the bmz_cache folder (as well as the Zen Cart image, cache, log, and other folders).
You can contact your hosting provider for more details on what permissions will be necessary (as they depend upon the server configuration). No further response to your questions about "security" and changing "permissions" will be answered by me in this thread. If your hosting provider is unable to assist you, you can start a new thread... But your hosting provider is the only one with all the relevant information on how their servers are configured.
To start a new thread click the large "Post New Thread" button (probably in the General Forum or the Installing on Linux Forum).

Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
I've got a large database of images, and save all images in the appropriate name for SEO purposes. Only snag is that image handler removes the name I save them as and changes it to something specific and non related. This is of course useless to google (but convenient to me as it converts 1 image to 3 different sized images).
I would dearly love google to use all 1700 of my images and increase traffic to my site.
Does anyone know of a way around this so that the names are saved as the proper name as opposed to what image handler does to them?
DivaVocals recommended to re-write the part of the IH4 code that manages the image cache file naming. My coder can't seem to find the function responsible for renaming thumbs.
Can DivaVocals advise?
Thanks!

Nope.. It IS a re-write of a core part of IH's core code.. But off the top of my head, I don't know which files are impacted.. I've never looked into this deep enough because this part of the code really isn't "broken"..
BTW.. Google could CARE LESS what your images are named.. Google will still find and index your site's images regardless of what they are named..

Re: Image Handler v4.3.3
Hi,
Has anyone had an issue where the last product image is duplicated when adding additional product images. I have a client that has this issue fairly consistently. The image size is not large (which I see can be an issue). I can't find any errors associated with this. And, I've not been able to duplicate this myself. But, it does happen to my client and I can't figure out why. And, I don't see anyone else here having the same issue. Any ideas?
Zen Cart version 1.5.1
Image Handler 4
Thanks!

Not an IH4 issue (otherwise others would report this issue..) This probably is an image naming issue and there is a section of the readme that points in the right direct to fix it.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
How does the background color work. For my small images, I selected the settings of "png" and background color of "'-transparent-". But its still rendering as white. I wanted to make it match the odd and even rows of the product listing page like the IH4 example shows. Currently all my images are jpg. If I understand correctly, imagemagick would convert them on the fly to png? Or would I have to initially made my pictures with png transparent backgrounds as the default images and then it would work. If that is the case I will live with a white background on all images as it would be tedious to get them converted to pngs.

Read it again. I know that Imagemagick can convert jpg images to png transparency with scripts. But I don't know if image handler has that functionality to make use of imagemagick scripts. Is their a place I can add scripts inside the files to convert the jpgs background to transparency. This seems the only way I can use the background color settings.
This is what I tested this morning.
1) I have 2 pictures, 1 in jpg with white background and 1 in png with alpha transparency
2) Uploaded each of them to separate product listings
3) Changed settings in IH4 to use 255:0:0 (red) background color and use filetype png
4) On viewing the catalog side, only the product with the default png image shows a red background. But the default jpg (png IH4 converted) still has the white background.
When viewing the image source, it does show that the jpg was converted to a png in the bmz cache folder.
So basically what I am asking does IH4 only change the filetype? And what I suspect is that IH4 does not make use of scripts to convert backgrounds to alpha transparent. The readme does not cover this as it gives examples of uploading a jpg in the above example and using other filetypes for resize images. And then moves to the topic of background colors. Unless it is to be assumed that you have to start with a gif or png with a transparent background then I understand how it is covered in the readme.
-
Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
From the readme
"If you want to keep the transparency of an uploaded image, you need to set the background color value to transparent."
This implies to me that you need to have a transparent background to start with.
Having used various photo tools to remove backgrounds and then clean up what is left manually.
I doubt there is a photo tool that can do this automagically and give a satisfactory result.
So I cannot see that IH would be set up or able to do this either.

true.. However, your original question didn't give me any indication what you were asking after either.. (it was a bit broad.. hence why I pushed you back to the readme..)

Exactly.. IH4 can convert filetype (JPG --> PNG), but adding a transparent background to a converted image?? No.. IH4 doesn't do this.. To see the background color, start with an image with a transparent background and the background color in the settings will show through..

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
I've got an odd issue. I just upgraded IH4 to the latest version, 4.3.2, and now my image swap does not work. I did not seem to have this problem with IH 4.2.
Image that was just replaced and image swap is not swapping correct image:
r o s e c i t y v i n t a g e [dot] com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5&products_id=384
Image that for some reason is not being resized, and working correctly
r o s e c i t y v i n t a g e [dot] com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5&products_id=74
My modified code in modules/additional_images.php is in red and TEXT_CLICK_TO_ENLARGE has been removed:
Code:
$thumb_regular = zen_image($base_image, $products_name, MEDIUM_IMAGE_WIDTH, MEDIUM_IMAGE_HEIGHT);
$large_link = zen_href_link(FILENAME_POPUP_IMAGE_ADDITIONAL, 'pID=' . $_GET['products_id'] . '&pic=' . $i . '&products_image_large_additional=' . $products_image_large);
// Link Preparation:

'<br />TEXT_CLICK_TO_ENLARGE</a>' : $thumb_slashes) . '\');' . "\n" . '//--></script>';

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
K1ra,
Image swap would be an entirely different mod and I assume you probably overwrote some necessary files when you installed image handler. The image swap javascript or jQuery may also conflict with image handler.
Diva, of worthy note and may have been posted before in this thread:
I installed image handler and ran into a problem with the image on the product page requiring the use of the _MED image which doesn't exist at all. I finally figured out that the ImageMagick version is only 3. So if anyone runs into this problem and checks this thread, perhaps this will be of some use to them.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
I disabled my image swap as it appears to not work correctly with the new Image Handler. However, I still have a couple issues:
1. The large image popup is pulling the small image size instead of the large image. I just re-installed the new version of Image Handler.
2. I uploaded only the Large version of a product image, since IH4 is supposed to auto resize/compress, however all versions of the image are around 20kb, which is the filesize of the Large image I uploaded.

I figured out #2. The image name actually had _Lrg in it. I deleted the images, renamed and deleted the _Lrg, and now IH4 works as expected.
I'm still stumped on #1.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Your additional images are being forced to be 75px x 100px in your stylesheet.css.
Hope that helps,

Not to be nit picky.. but I personally found it was a PITA to put back together your URL JUST to look at the links you posted.. So I just looked at this today because I have time for playing with a copy, paste, and reassemble puzzle to take a look at your link.. (might be why not many folks responded to your question..)
going forward if you want to post links that don't gt picked up my the search engines simply typing http://rosecityvintage[dot]com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5&products_id=74 (without all the extra spaces) would have done the trick..

Not just additional images but their sidebox images too..
.sideBoxContent img { width:100px; height:75px; }
Furthermore NONE of the product images appear to be managed by IH4 at all.. So in short IH4 is installed wrong..

Thanks. I'll remember that! It's much easier..
Yes the additional images are being forced to a smaller size in the css so they fit in the product_info page. Are you saying that is what is causing the popup to not pull the lrg images?
I re-installed IH4 twice this morning just in case I missed something, disabled the code for my image swap [which was custom], then deleted and re-uploaded the images for this product an hour ago:
http://rosecityvintage[dot]com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5&products_id=749
The src seems to show the images coming from IH4 cache, but the source for the popup seems to be for the same image instead of for the _Lrg image, or the image.600x800 as IH names it.
The images at the link provided are they only product who's images I have put through IH4. All other product images were created manually with the zen naming convention and the various sizes. These will be replaced eventually.
Thank you for responding. I have been stumped on this.

The image behavior of your site is indicative of one or more things as the cause:
IH4 is not installed correctly
You have other modifications that are interfering or are overwriting the IH4 files
I don't know which one is at play.

This is what I thought, but I've uninstalled and re-installed IH4 multiple times, manually comparing and merging the files. The last time I just straight up replaced the files with the IH4 versions..I also compared my fileset to the default Zen fileset to see if I was missing something. I commented out the css forcing the additional images to be the size I need, though I don't see what that has to do with the wrong image being called in the first place. None of this seemed to make a difference.
The only mods I have installed are
IH4
Easy Populate 4
Stock By Attributes
Flexible Product Listing
Tabless Order Steps
Cross Sell
My host is on PHP 5.4
I supposed I'm left with trying the default template to see if that makes a difference, or trying with IH4 uninstalled.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Hello
I have a bizarre wee quirk going on.
Using zencart 1.51, fresh install and then an import in of a 1.39h store data (following zencart step by step instructions - I have upgraded 50+ stores to date).
Using my own template.
plugins installed
image handler
ultimate seo urls
zx slideshow
pure css mega menu
Code is appearing for the additional images on the page, but the actual additional images are not appearing on the page.

Image Handler 4 on v1.5.0
On the main product page, the additional image is on the top, then on the next row, the main product image and descripition are followed.
It is supposed to be the other way around.
And it is happeneing with Chrome only.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
IH4 does not modify the appearance of the product info page.. This is template/layout issue not an IH4 issue..

I assume you are not responding because you think this is an "add on question." So let me frame this in a way that takes it out of that realm.
How can I deactivate "Zoom on" functionality for any given page?

I wasn't responding because I was on a tiny mobile device, which makes navigating this forum a PITA.. Besides, the whole "Zoom on Medium" images discussion/issues is covered in the readme.. If you want to turn off IH4 's built in "zoom on small images" functionality you turn it off in the admin. Configuration > Images > IH small images zoom on hover

So then are you saying that when I do what the readme says to get zoom on medium that the zoom on medium functionality will still work when I turn off IH4 's built in "zoom on small images"?

don't know where you thought I MIGHT have said/implied this..
that code was pulled out of the IH fileset long ago.. WHY is detailed out in the readme.. you asked how to turn off the IH4 hover on small images.. I provided that info.. if you want to know if that medium image hover code works with or without the IH4 small image hover, the answer is I don't know..

No Image Handler information found.
Is there a way to solve this issue without re-installing image handler?
Thanks

Please tell me if this is a (responsive) template issue or an IH4 issue:
When I click on the product image, the pop up window is very small. I can drag it to resize it, but it's annoying to have to do that.

It's most likely some other mod you installed wiped out the hidden config setting that houses the IH4 version data.. I'm at work and don't now the SQL required to restore it.. the other option is a reload of the IH4 installers.. (in the admin files of the install package) This will re-run the IH4 install and fix this.

Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
Thank you for replying, ill try and install the same version i have. I do have a test setting :-) so i can try. Thank you for pointing me in a direction :-)

Everything is fixed, i suddenly remembered i installed bestsellers page :-) at least sort of. Thank you again for helping me out. I really love the image handler, the only thing i dont like about it is the names of the images :-D but i rather have those names then do without tis super module.

Yeah.. that module hasn't been updated in some time I would guess.. I would also guess that it must have the code in their install SQL that wipes out certain configuration table settings.. There are some default Zen Cart configuration table entries that are hidden (not accessible via the admin) and IH4 also uses a hidden configuration table entry to store the version number.

I've got the same problem and I thought the same thing, i solved the problem reinstalling (copying again the install files and re-run it) IH4. Unfortunately i don't know yet which add-on caused the problem, no error log was ever generate.
A question about uploading, it seem i've some sort of "limit" on the dimension of the files i can upload in IH4, (about 95Kb) if the file is bigger i got a server error message, even if i don't have any server limit set... no error log is generated, no other issue. Where should i look to figure out why is there this limit? (The uploadable size of file is muuuuuuch bigger than 95 kb )
Thanks in advance

there wouldn't be an error log because "techinically" there wasn't an error.. there was however an install SQL script which includes code which will inadvertently remove rows from the configuration table.

products_image_large equivalent
I'm trying to set up Foundation's clearing lightbox on my product info pages. Unfortunately I can't figure out the src= URL for my large main product image. I was expecting to find it with the $products_image_large variable, but that spits out the source as http://mz.gundlach-marketing dot com/images/large/19-2420-b2_LRG.jpg I thought IH4 put files there? perhaps I'm wrong on that one, maybe the images are only stored in the bmz_cache? I'm fine with that too, I just need to figure out a variable name or a way of calling the path to the large image. Maybe I'll revisit the code for the additional images. It works fine for those.

Suggest looking at other lightbox modules that are compatible with Image Handler for the hints you need..

It works on the admin page I can view larger image and such but on my product page I cannot view larger image nor hover over when im viewing all products in that specific category.
Please help me! my hosting is fine... 100% sure PHP Version: 5.3.28 Server OS: Linux server55.web-hosting.com 2.6.32-531.11.2.lve1.2.55.el6.x86_64 #1 SMP Fri Apr 18 09:06:31 EDT 2014 x86_64

Troubleshooting Basics
Make sure your custom template is active. (Admin > Tools > Template Selection)
Make sure Image Handler 4 is installed. Admin > Tools > Image Handler4 > Admin Tools. Set permissions in both your images and bmz_cache folders to 755 (eg: both of these folders need to have the same permissions).
If Image Handler 4 does not work or gives you errors:
- Make sure all files are in correct location
- Make sure you uploaded ALL the Image Handler 4 files
- Make sure the files are not corrupt from bad FTP transfers
- Make sure your file merge edits are correct
- MAKE SURE YOU RE-READ THE CONFIGURATION AND USAGE SECTIONS!!!
- Make sure that there are no javascript conflicts from other programs
- Make sure that your main product image files names DO NOT contain any special characters
ie: non-alphanumeric characters such as
/ \ : ! @ # $ % ^ < > , [ ] { } & * ( ) + =
Always use proper filenaming practices when naming your images - See this document as a reference: http://www.records.ncdcr.gov/erecords/filenaming_20080508_final.pdf\
When posting bugs/issues about Image Handler 4, it's a WHOLE LOT more helpful to resolve them if you post details. Just saying "it's broken" or "doesn't work" does not provide nearly enough information to help YOU resolve YOUR issue.
Please provide as MUCH information as possible including:
- The version of Zen Cart you are running
- The version of Image Handler 4 you are running (you can see this by going to “Admin > Tools > Image Handler4” – the version is displayed in the upper left hand side)
- Any other add-ons you may have also installed
- Hosting/server information (PHP versions, mySQL versions, hosting provider etc)
- The EXACT error/issue you are experiencing
- AND if you're REALLY detail oriented, tell us the install sequence/method you used to install Image Handler 4.
- Post a link (not a screen print) to a specific product/product listing page where the issue you are experiencing can be seen (Please DO NOT make folks fish through your site looking for an example of your issue)
AND this last point is important.. The volunteers who help here need to SEE what you see LIVE. A screenprint really isn’t good enough.
And a (gentle) reminder about FREE forum support:
This is ain’t Microsoft folks!
(a frequently used analogy by some to compare open source projects to commercial projects)
Like other open source projects, this support forum is manned by VOLUNTEERS (ie: unpaid folks). They are not OBLIGATED to assist here, but they do so because they WANT to. They give of their time here when their individual schedules permit. Usually the response is pretty quick 'round these parts, but when it’s not or your question has gone unanswered this may mean one of a few things:
- NO ONE has an answer to your question/issue.
(Some folks will only respond when they have something MEANINGFUL to say versus a blanket “I don’t know how to do that” kind of answer.) - Folks are just busy and will answer if/when they can..
(family and other personal obligations, day jobs, paid jobs, etc will usually trump forum participation – this is to be expected – after all it’s unrealistic to expect that folks are sitting around this forum all day and night waiting to answer questions) - Your question got missed. (and while I’m on this point) Your post MIGHT have been missed if your post is now a FEW pages back (like more than TWO or more pages) with no response.. Missed does NOT mean “it’s been an hour and no one responded to my question, so let me 'bump' the thread by re-posting my question again”
Anyway.. carry on.. Enjoy the new version..

I don't see any errors except the visual ones as I said everything is working right in the admin panel settings are all right but on the products pages its not working on mouse over nor do I see a little square on the bottom of the image like everyone else.
I uploaded every file in the correct place and double checked to make sure before i installed it, Went to admin panel and it said everything was installed successfully. Went to tools > image handler v4 and put all 3 images in (different) first one small but not super small.
I don't really have anything but 2 test products and neither of them work... Not sure what you mean by fish my site, should i not post the exact link?
I found this in my stylesheet.css in my theme maybe this?
#headerWrapper, #contentMainWrapper, #logoWrapper, #cartBoxListWrapper, #ezPageBoxList, #cartBoxListWrapper ul, #ezPageBoxList ul, #mainWrapper, #popupAdditionalImage, #popupImage {
margin: 0em;
padding: 0em;

It means if you have DOZENS of products on your site we don't want to have to hunt for an example of your issue. That said you need to post a link to you site.. otherwise we can only GUESS what is going on..
While you're at it post your admin image settings.. because I'm thinking that you don't have them setup correctly as per the readme.. (which would be one reason WHY the hover effect wouldn't work)

Need to post ALL of the image settings..
and let's start with the FIRST instructions in the Usage section of the IH4 readme.. You did not turn IH4 on?
Would suggest that you REALLY need to review the sections of the readme that cover how to get the image hover to work.. my guess is (and I don't like/do guessing) is that you have not followed the instructions for properly configuring the hover.

Now that you've turned it on, and have the right image settings the hover works.. Not being able to click on the large image is an issue with your template.. Looks like some default code was removed from the product info file.. You need to start a new thread to get this resolved as it's not an issue caused by IH4.

Re: Image Handler 4 (for v1.5.x) Support Thread
Okay sorry for late reply, deleted my cookies with ccleaner and I can see now, had issues with the forum I couldnt post replies so I switched themes and its working now...
I am curious, I edit an image in one category and the mouse over image is the same for every image, how do I fix that so each product in that category can have it's own image.

4 days and 8 hrs a day later - hover effect still not working
I have installed Image Handler 4 into a testing site as I am updating zencart and stuff generally.
I have installed the IH4 module several times, both manually and via the auto install.
The site is adult oriented so don't go there if items of an adult nature offend you.
http://www(dot)triplexshop(dot)co(dot)uk/xxx is the test site.
The original site is http://www(dot)triplexshop(dot)co(do.../index(dot)php where Image Handler 2 is working ok on Zencart 1.3.9
IH4 has installed correctly according to the admin report after installation. I have uploaded the large images and everything is working via IH4 except the hover facility. I have duplicated the important and relevant settings in the read me file. The file permissions are set and correct. I have followed every bit of advice in the read me file as far as I am aware.
The problem I have is that the hover facility is not working. I have read every post (of the 110 pages) in the forum thread, tried every solution offered, set the admin/configuration/images details to match those of the read me file.
The hover effect is still not working.
I'm probably missing something obvious, but would appreciate someone with experience and knowledge to tell me where I am going wrong.
This is my first post so apologies in advance if protocol has not been observed, If you need any more information please advise.
Details required as per sticky (although I might have missed something - let me know)
I am running Zencart 1.5.1
I am running Image Handler4 Version: 4.3.2
I have installed Easy Populate 4 and Zen Lightbox and done very little work on the test site until I get IH4 up and running
I have also attached a copy of image settings
PHP Version 5.3.2-1ubuntu4.24
Server OS: Linux 2.6.32-042stab078.28 Database: MySQL 5.1.41-3ubuntu12.10

PHP File Uploads: On Max Size: 20971520 POST Max Size: 20971520

Re: 4 days and 8 hrs a day later - hover effect still not working
It seems you are missing the jscript and css files. I don't see those files being loaded on your site. Granted I am assuming that you have not consolidated as I will not check if you did. But if you didn't upload those files to test if it works. IF it does work after that, I would suggest a uninstall and reinstall since you have somehow messed up the installation.
For the mods that have an autoinstaller I do not suggest you override it with a manual attempt unless you know what you are doing.

Thank you. It is now working, and the reason is that when I first installed IH4, I got install errors. I researched through the forum and found this answer which basically tells you to IGNORE THE INSTALL ERRORS BECAUSE "The 1st message says that it has all the files in the right place THEREFORE it does not need to create all the files it says it DID NOT create.." See below in blue text.
And it is thanks to your answer that after 5 days I finally found the answer in another part of the support thread which contradicted the "advice" given above in bold. I did what the person suggested in the other solution (see attached image to this post that gives the solution). and the problem was solved within 5 minutes of doing the exact process. The reason the hover/zoom was not working was because there were a number of files that had NOT BEEN TRANSFERRED USING THE AUTOINSTALLER - NOT BECAUSE "THE FILES WERE "IN THE RIGHT PLACE THEREFORE IT DOES NOT NEED TO CREATE ALL THE FILES IT SAYS IT DID NOT CREATE.
Thank you once again Yaritai. If any of the admins see this may I suggest the post giving the incorrect advice is modified so that at least, people searching for a solution (and it appears that there have been quite a few) have an alternative method of installation if the autoinstall does not work because of different server hosting settings/whatever.

Here in the image below was the solution for me and the text from NICCOL if you can't see the image: (Thanks Niccol)
Re: Image Handler 4 Support Thread
firstly. it is always a good idea not to post your admin directory name. just is a bit of a security issue. so if it is actually called xxxxadmin then do not post that on forums. if not then no worries.
secondly, your server is preventing the installer from deleting and replacing files. You will need to upload them manually.
so for example start with xxxxadmin/includes/modules/category_product_listing.php
in the IH package you will find xxxxadmin/includes/modules/category_product_listing_IH4.php
strip the '_IH4' of the name so that it matches the correct name and upload it. ( back up the existing version first)
Do that for all the files you have listed.
Then manually delete the file that is xxxxadmin/includes/auto_loaders/config.image_handler.php

Re: 4 days and 8 hrs a day later - hover effect still not working
It has been acknowledged and DISCUSSED TO DEATH in this support thread that that the autoinstaller may not work for a SMALL NUMBER of server configurations.. and in that case you will have to MANUALLY install it.. We have NO WAY to know if you are on one of those RARE hosting configurations or what your issue was since you did not post that you had any install warnings/messages when you posted here initially..
Glad you got it working but SERIOUSLY!!?? You want the admins to edit my post?? I stand by what I said because that's WHAT that particular error message means..
