IH2 no longer creates images in the large and medium folder. You upload the largest version you want shown, and IH2 creates your medium and small sizes in the bmz_cache folder. So on the product information page, you see what you set for medium sizes, on the product listing pages, you see what you set for the small image, and when you click to enlarge you see your large size. Do you actually have the older version, or perhaps you had the older version, and didn't fully change over to the newer version? Your site shouldn't be pointing to medium and large folders if you're your using the version for 1.3.7.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hello - and thanks for the replies - hectic day today so late getting back. I was able to get the images to resize larger but only via trial and error. I went to the config/images/small image ht and wit and made changes. Unfortunately I have some tall images, some wide - and when I make a uniform change to the small h/w I get one ot the other (tall or wide) distorted.
Original file was uploaded at 75% and jpg - which I thought was the best compromise for speed. (35K) W337 H472
It makes zero sense to me why making changes to the "small" image size is having this effect - but then again I am just a layman. There must be something I am overlooking.
Please - someone with image expertise PM me so I can give you my admin login or show you what is going on via an online meeting. - totally cool technology if you have not seen it yet! The meeting alone is worth making the investment, I promise, and I can even show you how to get for free - think of the possibilities as a developer? and btw - I dont sell it I - just a very satisfied user.
Regards,
Skratch

You DO have the zoom_LRG.png in your images/large folder, don't you?.........I know......It's probably a stupid question, but sometimes, it's the most obvious things we overlook. Also, make sure that (images/large) that folder inherited the 777 attribute.

Delete any images you have in the small or medium folders.
Don't upload any images to those folders.
Simply upload a large image, and IH2 is supposed to do the rest.

I'm having trouble with controlling where the zoomed image displays. In Firefox, it is displaying at the top of the page above my header. See http://archaeo-logical.com for a demo. Why is this happening?

Looking at the html source code on your listings, there is no zooming script on any product thumbnail. Do you even have IH2 enabled?

Hi thanks for your reply, i deleted all images in the medium and large folders but this makes no difference.
I have been uploading an image via add new product in addmin or i have also tried tools>image handler2 add new image. Both produce dead links on the med and large image sizes on the website. when i get properties of the dead link image, it points at http://kivalin.com/shop/images/medium/e68c_1_b_MED.JPG
If zen cart 1.3.7 doesn't use the med and large image folders why is the image link pointing to it? I noticed a couple of others have had this same problem. Any ideas anyone?

Cedar, I think your first problem is that when you deleted all of your images, you didn't clear the bmz_cache, did you? Second, after you leleted all of your images, you FIRST tried to add the images back by adding them to the product, itself....that's a no-no with IH. And, it will point to _MED and _LRG folders, IF you want more than one image per product, because you have to upload a medium and a large image for this to happen.
If you just want one image per product, you need to first, clear IH bmz_cache, found in the IH admin section, then upload one image (it has to be a large image, say 500x500, WITHOUT the _LRG) suffix to IH default image field. Then, after that, sizes are controlled by the settings in Admin>configuration>images.
The bottom 2 fields, ARE for the _MED and _LRG images, but that's ONLY if you want more than one image per product.

Ya, listen to get em fast. The issue is you're misunderstanding the way IH2 works. Only only only upload ONE large image. Name it imagename.jpg, with NO suffix whatsoever. Do not upload a medium image, do not upload a small. Go ahead and delete your entire medium and small folders, they are not needed anymore.

Yea, but if they ever decide to use more than one image, then they WILL need those folders. When you upload any _MED or _LRG images to display a different hover image, and yet another pop-up image, then IH needs to put those images in the Medium and Large folders, to be able to call them. So, I wouldn't delete the folders, just the present images in them.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
It pains me to see all this mass confusion and the same questions being posted over and over again. Enough already!!
I wrote this, read it, and then read it again.
Allow me to contribute yet another explanation of the basic concept of WHAT IH2 does in layman's terms.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yes, the browser can resize an image simply by providing the width and height parameters that you wish to display.
However, if you do it that way, the entire image file still has to make it to the browser, so that the browser can alter the image.
You do realize how large the image files are?
If you have a screen full of thumbnails to display, using this methodology will tax a surfer's patience.
Clearly, the download of large image files to fill a screen of thumbnails is not a good idea.
Another draw back to browser resizing is the plain fact that the browser is not in the business of image editing.
The browser will resize the image without any regard for image quality.
Definitely a bad thing, unless you don't want to the customer to get a good look at what you're selling.
Therefore, it stands to reason that we don't want to rely on the browser to resize our images. Agreed!
The Generic ZenCart Scenario (without IH2)
The generic version of ZenCart provides a facility for us to upload and store PRE-sized images. That is to say, images that we have
sized, in advanced, into thumbnails, medium size, and large size images.
We name these files, so that we can determine which is which, as follows:
- THUMBNAIL==> imageA.jpg
- MEDIUM ==> imageA_MED.jpg
- LARGE ==> imageA_LRG.jpg
And, so that the system can find them we store them in separate folders as follows:
../ZenCart / IMAGES / imageA.jpg
../ZenCart / IMAGES / MEDIUM / imageA_MED.jpg
../ZenCart / IMAGES / LARGE / imageA_LRG.jpg
When you enter a new product, and you indicate an image file, that image file name is stored in the database as the primary image.
Zencart will look for that image in the main image folder called:
../ZenCart / IMAGES /.
I'm going to be honest, there is no way to make this any clearer.
Having to pre-resize three diferent images and maintain them in three separate folder is a colossal pain the rump.:yuck:
Enter the IH2 contribution to ZenCart courtesy of Tim Kroeger.
The IH2 ZenCart Scenario
With IH2, the whole idea of you having to PRE-size images has been deprecated, eradicated, erased, removed, and taken away.
Furthermore, the need to store product images in the MEDIUM and LARGE image folders has also been deprecated, eradicated, erased, removed, and taken away.
Read that again.
So what happens?
Using your favorite image editing software in the comfort of your computer, you create a single image of the product. It needs to be the largest size that you want to display on the screen. I chose 300x500 pixels, you can have a bigger size or a smaller a size, it's up to you. But remember the rule, smaller files load faster. It is beyond the scope of this posting, but a good idea to become familiar with image editing pitfalls.
Where do you put the images?
In the main image folder ONLY. Nowhere else, or they won't be found. IH2 is not going to look in the old folders! Put all your images in the main image folder: ../ZenCart / IMAGES / imageA.jpg
IH2 will look at the settings you placed in ADMIN > CONFIGURATION > IMAGES and use those settings to automatically create the other sized images
The very first time an image is required, IH2 will resize your large image into a thumbnail or medium image, and store it in the bmz_cache.
What's the bmz_cache?
I don't know if you noticed, but Tim Kroeger authored the IH2 contribution, and he operates a website called www.breakmyzencart.com.
It's a safe bet to say that bmz stands for "break my zencart".
Nonetheless, it is a cache of sub-folders where IH2 stores the presized images it automatically created the first time, so that it does not have to resize them again.
The image handler always checks the cache prior to resizing the image.
This is important! Try to remember.
Thumbnails and medium sized images are taken from the bmz_cache. So? If you modified the large image in the main image folder or you change the size parameters of the thumbnail and/or medium images, it will have no effect on the images already in the bmz_cache. Because they already exist in the bmz_cache, they will not be recreated. You have to remoooooove them from the bmz_cache to force IH2 to regenerate them.
How do I clear the bmz_cache?
In theory, you should go to ADMIN > TOOLS > IMAGE HANDLER2 and click. There is a link there called "Clear image cache". This link should clear the cache.
I usually use Filezilla to delete all of the subfolders in the bmz_cache. You, of course, can choose for yourself, which approach works best.
Additional Images?
Pay attention, this is not rocket science. We've been using imageA.jpg as an example. Let's say that imageA.jpg is the only image you have for the product, and you want to display additonal images. Great idea!!
Name the additional image imageA_anything.jpg and store it in the same folder with the rest of images. You can replace anything with anything you want.
I promise you, if you do what I just said, ZenCart will correlate all the images that have the same value to the left of the underscore. And, for those of you who don't know it yet, Lightbox will also find these additional images.
You can call them like this example:
- imageA.jpg
- imageA_01.jpg
- imageA_02.jpg
- imageA_red.jpg
- imageA_wackadoo.jpg
store them all in the main image folder, and they will all be considered images of the same product. But remember, there is only one main image and that's the one stored inthe database when you created the product in ADMIN > CATEGORIES > PRODUCTS.
Summary
Read this posting more than once. It was meant to be a simple clarification of concept, not a technical thesis on image editing. There is additional doumentation on Tim's website at www.breakmysencart.com/ihdoc.
If you appreciate his efforts, the poor guy's a perpetual student, send him some money before he starves to death. I'm sure he'll appreciate it.

BullDog,
I can get to your frontend, but there's something out of place in the backend.
Double check the admin/configure.php settings to make sure you set the paths correctly.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I can't even get to the admin login page to check anything. The errors I pasted are what I get when I try. What should I do?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Checked configure.php and everything looks fine. Everything was working correctly before I tried to install the image handler 2 add on.
I did backup the database before I did all this. Can I just use that now? or did the settings get screwed up in the process? Should I wipe everything, reinstall zencart, image handler and try it again? I don't want to lose all the data that has taken me countless hours to enter.
HELP!
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Shouldn't be necessary to reinstall ZC. Worse comes to worst, run your most recent backup through phpMyAdmin so your database is restored.

Thanks, so if I do that everything will go back to how it was before I tried to install the image handler...right? Sorry if it sounds like a simple question, but I've got orders to ship on Monday and need to fix this.
Really need to speed up the site as well and the Image Handler was suggested, so ultimately I'd like to get that working.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Should work, though it's a bit time-consuming. And looking at the errors you quoted pertaining to bmz_image_handler_conf.php -- I'm not sure the db restoration is even necessary. Are those errors coming up when you try to load /admin/login.php ?
Make sure the file bmz_image_handler_conf.php is in the right place on your server, and that it hasn't been corrupted. If you're using Dreamweaver or certain other file transfer applications, it may be necessary to replace the file, even though it appears to be intact. I've experienced weirder problems! :lookaroun

Yes, those are the errors that come up when I try to load /admin/login.php
I've checked and the bmz_image_handler_conf.php is in the right place. I uploaded that file again just to be sure, but I get the same error. I guess I'll try and restore the database unless anyone else has any ideas. I really wish there had been some better installation instructions.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
PS -- what's with the /kunden directory? I noticed it precedes the url called in those two functions, but it's not present in the offending file (whose url starts with /homepages/).
If you open that file, at or near line 12 you should see:
PHP Code:
require_once(DIR_FS_CATALOG . DIR_WS_INCLUDES . 'extra_configures/bmz_image_handler_conf.php');
So I think maybe DIR_FS_CATALOG and/or DIR_WS_INCLUDES is mis-configured or malformed somehow.
Perhaps someone who knows more about PHP and the mechanics of this file can shed some light. I'm just a happy idiot who dances on the shoulders of giants.

Buster,
Without having sat next to you when you installed the contribution, it would be irresponsible for anyone to suggest anything based on what you posted here.
But, I will offer this..:bangin:
The IH2 contribution has already proven that it works (no software is ever going to be bug free).
Make certain that you installed all the files where they were supposed to be installed and followed the procedures indicated in the documentation.
If you did that, it would work.
Let us know how it went
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Well I had to install zencart again to get everything back to normal. I still don't have image handler installed. Are there better installation instructions anywhere to be found? I followed the documentation exactly, but it didn't work out for me.
Thanks to everyone who helped me.

Hi thanks for your time, i followed your advice but still the same issue. I have tried clearing bmz cache etc.
Here is the detail of how i'm using IH2
After installing IH2, following all install instructions.
i went to zen cart admin tools IH2 admin install.
Then:
-admin>categories/products
-chosse categorie> new product
-Product name: itemtest6
-Filled in info,
-browse for image on my HD (image name: test6.jpg 500 615 px)
-preview
-insert
Now when i view the categorie page http://kivalin.com/shop/index.php?ma...=index&cPath=4
it looks fine, but when i click on the product image it doesn't show on the products page nor does it show when i click "view larger image".
I also tried adding a product with no image then using IH2 admin to add an image. same result.
Am i doing something wrong?

you need to ad files to your custom template, its in the docs

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
BulldogCocker - The best advice I can offer install on your test site first, make sure you are using the correct version of IH with the correct version of ZC.
The instructions are fine:yes: you must have upload a file somewhere incorrectly as the error was not finding a certain file, make sure you are uploading the the correct mode eg Binary. and then go step by step. If this fails just delete the files you have just upload and start again. Just don't panic if things go wrong work backwards.

If you use a custom template, copy the contents of

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I'm also having the problem of the Pop up's on one store, but not another. I'm O.k. with that except that the store that has the pop ups shows the poped up image at the top of the page in the header section.
I'm looking for a way to turn off the pop ups because I like the way IH2 lets me assign one picture for all sizes, and that works fine on both stores.
The stores are Gary's Odd Stuff (has pop ups), Gary's Thrift Shop(No pop ups).
Any ideas would be great thank.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I had the same problem till I went back and saw that I missed the CSS info. In the instructions it shows a small peice of code for your css file once I put that in it worked fine. So you might double check that and I hope it helps.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I found the code in the CSS file included, and copied that to my template Stylesheet. I put it at the end, but I didn't think that would matter.
It's the Java Script file that is causing the problem. If I rename it I don't get the pop up in the header section. I don't get a pop up at all, and that's O.K. , but with that file renamed I don't get an enlarged image when I click on the product image file. I'm using the Gloss_Blue template, and I think there is something in there telling the java script to show in the header section.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Here is a follow up post. I've done a full restore from a backup made just before the install (I didn't delete any files before the restore), and everything is back to normal except clicking on any link opens a new window.
Is this a setting somewhere? The install has changed something that the restore has not overwritten, so I'm thinking it's a setting. I've also in IH2 used the 'remove from database' option, and it reported it was successful.
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
This appears to be a new one!
I've just installed Zen Cart 1.3.7 and then Image Handler 2 (from the downloads section of this site).
After installing I setup IH2 as normal (I've done this many times before). But it doesn't work.
When I load any page of my site (that includes a product image) the page will just stop loading. I receive no errors or missing images.
Does anyone know why this is happening?
Also, has anyone installed IH2 on 1.3.7 (fresh install) yet? If so, could they post quick instructions?
Thanks! :)

I used the instructions that come with the last version of IH2. Installed on ZC 1.37 just fine.
Are you observing files written to directories in bmz_cache? If not check your cache permissions. If so you may want to try clearing the contents of the entire cache directory.
Nothing shows up in your web server error log?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Woody,
I think IH2 does not work with PHP 5.2.1. I've switched to PHP 4.4.5 and it seems to work.
I'm not sure how to troubleshoot this one. My error log contains nothing and no error messages are sent to the browser (when trying to get IH2 working on PHP 5.2.1).
Strange. :|

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Forget the above post!!
It works. :) I've switched back to PHP 5.2.1.
Not sure what happened, but if I ever do fin out I'll post here.

 Almost everything is back to normal. I'm missing a sidebox, but that's no biggie.
I think the problem was a mix between the Template, and something in the Overrides. After a full restore all was back to normal except that clicking on any link would create a new window. Now, that I don't have a clue, but changing to the default Template stopped that. Then I copied the files from my old Template to the Classic directory, and I had my old template back.
Now, Checkout Without Account, Free Shipping Icon, and some small changes to the display didn't work, moving files (one by one ) from the old Overrides directory to the new Overrides directory has everything running great.
I still plan to use IH2, but not the Pop Up's. It appears that just installing the Definitions, and Modules will give me the image processing part, and not installing the Template files should work.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I'm having difficulty getting ih_manager.php to FTP. It says file or directory doesn't exist. I noticed it after I got the error messages below when uploading this module Went to look at these two files and found that ih_manager.php in fact doesn't exist.
Warning: main(includes/ih_manager.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/mysite/admin/image_handler.php on line 153
Warning: main(includes/ih_manager.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /home/mysite/admin/image_handler.php on line 153

Fatal error: main(): Failed opening required 'includes/ih_manager.php' (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in /home/mysite/admin/image_handler.php on line 153
Does anyone know what could be causing this?
Thanks so much for your help,

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi
I may have found a fix for the bad behaviour of ie6 by pushing the zoom image too high nearly off the page, when clicking on images at the bottom end of a lot of picture product listings.
Its a simple mod to the ih2 jscript file...
http://forums.breakmyzencart.com/t10...om-images.html
I remember the odd post here a while back, similarly complaining the zoom window goes too high sometimes
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Disregard my question above about the errors. If anyone else experiences the same errors it was an easy fix...a simple permissions problem. Once I changed permissions in my admin and admin/includes files to writable I was able to FTP the ih_manager.php file and all works fine now.

Think I spoke too soon!
With PHP 5.2.1 IH2 only works if the 'zoom images' feature is turned on. If this feature is turned off I get the same strange behaviour as before.
I'm running on PHP 4.4.5 until I can fix this.
Might even try reinstalling my server.

WOW :clap::clap::clap:
That makes all the difference. I have spent hours looking at the source code for that with no success.:frusty:
Perhaps I should have learned javascript first.
IT WORKS
Now the popups behave themselves in ie6

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi everyone I'm having a really strange issue with image handler.
All files are uploaded and when I click on install in admin it tells me everything is ok, all the extra bits are there etc , however, when I click on a product category to add a new file, there are no pics showing ( that is the small, med and large pics are not there) and the new file button/box that is normally on the right hand side is not there either.
The really odd part is that when I remove image handler everything then looks as it should but if I click on new file it of course tells me to install image handler.
In summary when installed it isn't and when deleted it looks like it is!!
I've been struggling with this a few days now and have installed this previously first time on another site with same host and had no issues atall.
Thanks Emma

Is this a host issue? If not, then what shall I do?

Permissions for the folder are 777. The host for this site hasn't gotten back to me yet. I don't think I can change the Hot Link protection status.
Thanks for the reply!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
O.k. Amy......done some Googling, and came up with THIS information for you. It's the php safe mode....... The PHP safe mode is an attempt to solve the shared-server security problem.
So, it looks like something that you'll have to take up with the host(s).
Hope this helps.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Searhed everywhere got no answer.
Please check my website, all looks fine at first.
Now if your page was maximised when you loaded my page then make it medium size by clicking the box between the x and the minimize button. Now look at the page again, the pictures have all moved out of the website :(
Ive only tested in IE so far but what is this. Cant find a fix anywhere please help.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Does Image Handler 2 allow for easy uploading of multiple images? How do I activate multiple images per product?
Also, I had to install it all by hand because I have a customized template. When I go to Admin > tools > Image Handler, nothing shows up. Is there a fix to this?
THANKS!

Yep, but you're not gonna like it. Do a re-install.......90% of all beginning issues with this mod start with something being wrong with the installation.......missing file, mis-placed file, etc.
So, if you just get a blank page, then something's missing, or in the wrong place....double-check.......triple check, each and every file. That page you referred to should have an install link on it, once all the files are there, and in the correct place. You can then, let it install.

Thanks, the host took safe mode off, I uninstalled, cleared out all subfolders of the bmz_cache and reuploaded the .keep file, reinstalled and we're cool now. I love this mod!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
It looks like everything is working, however nothing on my site has changed, I have the zoom set to yes and it isn't zooming, hovering is not working either. I am not getting any errors. Latest version of IM and ZC. Any help would be great, I have already taken it off my site and put it back on and there is no change.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi - I'm a comparative newbie, so please be gentle with me!!
I have read the very thorough post by Zinfandel (post No 1222 in this thread on May 19th), but I have some issues with the concept of allowing software to handle the generation of different sized images from one large 'master' file. My primary objection is that I am 100% TOTALLY confident that I can produce better-looking images than the software, so I would prefer to use the 'old' Zen Cart system, but with the added benefits of IH2. By this I mean that I prefer IH2's ability to let me add multiple images to a product, but in my case I specify the medium and large files.
I'm pretty confident that I have installed IH2 correctly (it all shows correctly, and works, in the admin) but I must say that the installation was a trifle confusing because the download from the Zen Cart download section and the download from the the author's web site differ!! One has substantially more files than the other - image-handler_2.0-zc13 has 52 files in 38 folders, whilst image-handler_2.0-zc135 has 46 files in 38 folders!!
It may well be that IH2 isn't working on the web site, because I don't get any 'hovers',
BUT... I do see the additional images!!
I am actually not too bothered about the hover, and the pop-ups certainly work, but, (and I'm getting to the point, finally, I promise) if you go to my unfinished web site here you will see there that the image for the category is located at the left side of the head of the center section, and directly under that is a second identical image.
The second (lower) image is of substantially inferior quality, because, if you look at this snippet of code for the image and pop-up
Code:
<div id="productMainImage" class="centeredContent back">
<script language="javascript" type="text/javascript">
<!--
document.write('<a href="javascript:popupWindow(\'http://www.hohose.exphoster.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=367\')">
<img src="images/medium/ElbeoRegentFront_MED.jpg" alt="Regent" title=" Regent " width="96" height="130" />
<br /><span class="imgLink">larger image</span></a>');//--></script>
<a href="javascript:popupWindow('http://www.hohose.exphoster.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=367')">
<img src="images/medium/ElbeoRegentFront_MED.jpg" alt="Regent" title=" Regent " height="130" width="96">
<br><span class="imgLink">larger image</span></a>
<noscript><a href="http://www.hohose.exphoster.com/catalog/index.php?main_page=popup_image&pID=367" target="_blank">
<img src="images/medium/ElbeoRegentFront_MED.jpg" alt="Regent" title=" Regent " width="96" height="130" />
<br /><span class="imgLink">larger image</span></a></noscript></div>
you will see that the thumbnail for the image is generated from the medium-sized image!!
This is not what I require at all: I want my pre-made, beautifully optimised thumbnail to be used for the thumbnail,
and the medium for the hover,
and the large for the pop-up!
Does anyone know how to fix this problem, please?
BTW: I have been up and down the admin settings (several times) and I cannot find anything that would modify this 'setting'.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
This is just a question.
I need a mouseover for my attribute images.
I know that IH2 works for product images.
But, will it work for attribute images?
I only have one option name: color, and lots of colors.
Since they don't render very well in small images (some of those colors are complex), I need customers to hover on the small ones and popup a medium image.
Thanks in advance.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi all, I have some trouble with image handler on my zen-cart configuration.
1. if I check the error.log of apache I have
Code:
[Sun Jun 03 22:20:00 2007] [error] [client 127.0.0.1] File does not exist: /var/www/bmz_cache, referer: http://localhost/kraehend/artigianato/admin/image_handler.php?page=manager&products_filter=24¤t_category_id=20
but the bmz_cache is located in another place on my linux box, how I can change this?
2. the image on the admin aren't show correct, my web site is located at
http://localhost/kraehend/artigianato/bmz_cache
but the images on the admin interface are searched at
http://localhost/bmz_cache
how I can correct that?
thanks for any advice, dav

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Please yell at me if this has already been asked and answered. Trust me, I've spent a long time searching and I'm not finding it...
Is it possible to make it so that when I hover on the small image, it zooms to the images in my _LRG folder instead of the medium images (which do not exist in my case)?
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
-
Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I decided to go to config>images>Product Info - Image Medium Suffix and change it to _LRG and then make a copy of all of my large images and put them into the _MED folder. That solves my problem for now, not sure how it might affect anything in the future.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support

I think you have been mislead. The Attributes image upload and 'designation' puts the sttributes images in a differnt folder, and AFAIK Image handler doesn't wqork, but a guy called colinr has a add-in module that does exactly this and it's called: 'PopUp on Attribute Images' and you can get it from the zen cat downloads section here.

Let us know what you get? The IH2 zoom window should stop climbing off the page with IE, when low images are zoomed.
I know netscape, firefox and opera don't use the modified line, but there may be other browsers apart from IE that do use it, so of course I don't know what those 'others' might do with this mod.

Hi,
Let's look at it philosophically.
I installed IH2 without a glitch and started playing with it late last night.
Looks like a great tool, but for the life of me couldn't find how to deal with attribute popups because it takes me to the same Admin page as before.
So, thank you very much for saving me lots of headaches and frustration.
But, I must also thank the poster who "misled" me into IH2 because I will use it for other purposes.
I aleady downloaded the contrib you suggested and will install it too, however I have a doubt: apparently this generates thumbnail images, I need to popup a larger image, which I can upload to the server previously.
Do you know where I can see this mod in action?
For your information, I have also been pointed here:
http://forum.zen-cart.com/showthread.php?t=60833
This mod seems to do the trick, I have seen it working and although it is not exactly what I need, seems to do the job pretty well.
Thank you all.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
ckosloff
I don't know where the PopUp on Attribute Images can be seen working, but I suspect if you contact the author here he may well advise you as to where it is in use, but don't tell him I suggested that you contact him, because he is working on a mod to allow me to use my existing thumbnails and large images, which it doesn't at present. (It uses the large image to generate the thumbnails)
I thought about the alternative that you have found, but it doesn't allow the thumbnail to have text, and the text is essential to me, so I can't tell you where it is in use!!
Now if you happen to find an add-in that allows me to use my own optimised thumbnails with my large images, but allows me to have text under the thumbnail (as attributes do in the default ZEN Cart set-up) please post your findings here.

Hareslade, thanks mate.
Fantastic, great fix. Worked like a charm. I am really pleased you posted that for downloading. Fan...bloody..tastic! oops
Your probably not the right person to ask.
While the hover/zoom works on Safari/Netscape/Firefox and now IE (thanks to you). For some reason it doesn't work from my site on Opera. While it will work from your site: http://www.consciousness-centre.co.uk/czc/index.php
Any reason/possibility as to why???? Or would it be just worthwhile reinstalling the IH2 module?
Again cheers

Yo blag,
Your problems are solved!
This mod I directed you to, does what you need.
I already tested it on a test site and will upload it shortly to the live one I'm building.
It does print the option value under the thumbnail.
First, you upload the two files to your server, to the locations the author specifies in the thread.
Next, suppose your option name is Color and option value Black.
You create a medium size image and call it black_MED.jpg and upload it to your images/medium/attributes subfolder, which you create.
You upload via Attribute Manager your image swatch black.jpg, which is a thumbnail you created on the basis on your medium image, resizing it.
That's it!
Refresh page and you will see Click to Enlarge on top of your thumb and Black (your option value) underneath, the link to the larger image is created and launches in a new window.
I have selected 0 as the layout for this option (in Edit Layout), but if you change layout it might behave differently, haven't tested this for long yet.
This mod doesn't conflict with IH2 AFAIK, not sure about the thumbnail generator, when I had both scripts installed, some weird things were happening.
I will test further, and let you know my findings if you are interested.

If it hadn't been for your instructions I would never have got that mod (from thread 60833) to work, many thanks. (Actually, your instructions are just a little wrong, but I won't go into details here!)
I do however, have a problem with this mod. It requires that there is yet another folder for images - and I don't want to use my medium-sized images. I would like to be able to use my own large images from the standard Zen Cart folder i.e. images/large. Still it's very, very close. I might see if I can hack the code to get it to work the way I want it to!!

I got my hack to work on the first time of trying, so now I'm a happy bunny, because I don't have to have a 'duplicate' folder full of images: i can use the exiting large images. Fantastic!!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Yo blag,
Glad it worked, but please don't be cryptic, if there is something wrong with my instructions I need to know it, so please do go into detail.
Also, please let the world know what you did to make your LRG images work, in my humble opinion no hack is needed, just to load your LRG images into images/large/attributes. MED was just an example, you can do same with LRG.
I don't quite get what you meant by duplicate folders, only one images folder is needed for this, with a couple subfolders that you create.
Looking forward to your reply.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I am using Zen Cart 1.2.6d.
Which is the latest version of Image Handler that I can use?
I downloaded Image Handler_1.0beta2 from breakmyzencart.
Is this the latest and the most suitable version available.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I'm having a problem with IH2 on some of my ZC 1.3.7 installations (which is just the best thing since sliced bread, by the way).
Occasionally, a page display will come to a grinding halt when trying to put together the product listing. It will not display anything else after, as the footer does not appear, so something is making everything just stop dead.
It seems to be in includes/modules/template_name/product_listing.php
The page will render fine up until this part when it just stops dead - no message, no anything.
I've found that sometimes putting in a smaller original image for IH2 to create the others from fixes it, but I can't figure out why that should be, and not being a coder I'm really in the dark.
I've found that removing the image altogether has enabled the product listing to work ok...until this morning, when I've found that even doing that doesn't help.
The reason I'm pretty sure that it's IH2 causing the problem is that I have another ZC installation which does not use IH2 and it works fine, albeit that it's a different version (1.3.0.1).
For info, the ones I'm having problems with run on:
IH 2.0
PHP Version 4.3.10
Apache 1.3.27
MySQL 3.23.56
GD Support enabled
GD Version bundled (2.0.28 compatible)
FreeType Support enabled
FreeType Linkage with freetype
GIF Read Support enabled
GIF Create Support enabled
JPG Support enabled
PNG Support enabled
WBMP Support enabled
XBM Support enabled
Anyone got any ideas as to what's going on?

I'm having an issue with additional images not showing up. I have tried the fix that was posted earlier, which does correct the additional images not showing up, but then the fancy hover doesn't work in Product listing. I tried the fix from jettrue too but then I get a parse error of unexpected end.....
I know nothing about PHP so after going cross eyed yesterday reading I finally gave up. Can anyone help with this issue?
Heather
You may have copied and pasted incorrectly. Try my code adjustment again, and be careful to REPLACE the code correctly. Replace ONLY line 701 (leave the '}' that is on the following line):
Code:
return $parameters . 'style="position:relative" onmouseover="showtrail(' . "'$products_image_zoom','$alt',$width,$height,$zoomwidth,$zoomheight,this," . $this->zoom['startx'].','.$this->zoom['starty'].','.$this->zoom['width'].','.$this->zoom['height'].');" onmouseout="hidetrail();" ';
with this (be sure to copy it all):
Code:
if (!($_GET['main_page']==FILENAME_PRODUCT_INFO)) {
return $parameters . 'style="position:relative" onmouseover="showtrail(' . "'$products_image_zoom','$alt',$width,$height,$zoomwidth,$zoomheight,this," . $this->zoom['startx'].','.$this->zoom['starty'].','.$this->zoom['width'].','.$this->zoom['height'].');" onmouseout="hidetrail();" ';
} else {
return $parameters . 'style="position:relative" onmouseover="showtrail(' . "\'$products_image_zoom\',\'$alt\',$width,$height,$zoomwidth,$zoomheight,thi s," . $this->zoom['startx'].','.$this->zoom['starty'].','.$this->zoom['width'].','.$this->zoom['height'].');" onmouseout="hidetrail();" ';
}
IF you still get the error, reply here, and let me see your site with the error.
Hi all...I did replace the code, but still just get to see only one image, also tried to see if I have missed } or else, but without success...I also tried to upload the 'old´way, like when inserting new products, first insert image xxx_02, than xxx_01 etc, but also doesnt show up more than one image...once at least it worked the 'old´way, there are some products showing two images...
Any help, please?
Thanks a lot in advanced.

I have also tried jettrue's fix to no avail. I did get a parse error the first go round, but that must have been human error because I'm no longer receiving that after re-editting, downloading fresh copy of IH2 and editting the file from there, copying the code from 2 separate posts... you name it I have tried it, still only 1 image  I have cleared my cache, switched to IE, which I rarely use, checked multiple products, none have additional images. Configuration->Images->Product Info - Number of Additional Images per Row is set to 3.
BTW, I can see the additional images in IH2, but nothing shows in the catalog.
Any thoughts?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Bottom line: my watermark just will. not. show up. All the files are in place correctly, and it is enabled in the admin. And IH2 works perfectly, except it won't plop the watermark on the images!! Some help would be really appreciated.. Thanks!

I notice line 126 and 128 of bmz_image_hander.class.php deal with large and medium sizing. Check your image heights/widths, and make sure they are not empty?
ETA: Also make sure you have a suffix in the suffix boxes:
Product Info - Image Medium Suffix: _MED
Product Info - Image Large Suffix: _LRG

So, you DO have in the "images/medium" folder, a watermark named "watermark_MED.png", and in the "images/large" folder, a watermark named "watermark_LRG.png" ?...............Just checking.

I got worried cause I never tested more than one additional image with my code fix , but its working for me. http://www.zencart137.jadetrue.com/i...&products_id=8
The images were uploaded using the IH tool in the admin.
I'm attaching my classes/bmz_image_handler.php, just in cause there was an issue with your edit.
Also make sure you've uploaded the new includes/modules/additional_images.php that comes with this mod.

Check this:
Catalog --> Product Types --> "your product type" --> Edit layout --> Show Product Additional Images = 1.
Should fix your issue.

Yes, the watermark_MED.png and the watermark_LRG.png files are in place in their respective folders.
I'm not sure if this makes a difference, but i upgraded my cart from 1.3.5 to 1.3.7. Is it possible it could be a database issue? When i was re-creating the new 1.3.7 site, i noticed that after i uploaded the IH2 files to all of their respective folders, that i did not have an "install IH2" button in the IH2 admin control panel. Instead, it was magically installed. I'm assuming stuff carried over from the 1.3.5 database info. So, just to make sure, i deleted IH2 from the database with the provided link, and installed it again, with the provided link.
If it helps, the site is http://www.qcookies.com
Now, i just found out something interesting... Essentially, all of my images for products are in images/product_images. There is also images/large and images/medium (with the correct png file and zoom files, respectively.) In the main images folder i have a watermark.png and zoom.png file as spec'ed in the IH2 installation instructions. Now, putting an image into the large folder does not generate a "large" image on the website. But if i go into the images/product_images folder and create an image with the _LRG suffix, it will show up on the product page with a watermark as an additional image on the bottom. The same image without the suffix (that generates the main image) does not plop a watermark on the main image once you click to zoom in.
I really hope that all made sense. If it didn't, i'll have a second attempt at explaining it. :dontgetit

I think here lies your problem. I always just upload images to the main directory, but if you are choosing to put them in a different folder, then I suppose your watermark needs to be in images/large/product_images/ folder? Again, I'm not too positive, because I've never uploaded them into a different folder, but I am sure that you have your watermark in the wrong place, since you use a different image folder.
Also, with IH2, you should not be uploading any large images manually. You upload the size you want your large image to be, then IH2 will automatically re-size your small and medium images for you, according to your image sizes set in your admin. But if you were doing it manually (which kind of defeats the purpose of installing IH2 in the first place), again, you have things in the wrong folder, since you are putting your images in a different folder. any large images would need to be in images/large/product_images/
If I were you, I'd make my life easier, and keep everything in the default images folder, as I'm not sure how well IH2 is programmed to work with different folders?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
That's right, jettru.....the images need to be in the main image directory, if you want just one image.....if you want more than one image, then the images STILL need to be in MAIN "images/medium" & "images/large" folders. And so do the watermark.png's.
mrmeech.......are you wanting just one image to be resized for each product, or are you trying for 1 small image on the index page, with a DIFFERENT, yet bigger image on hover (which will be the same as on the product info page), and yet a DIFFERENT, yet larger image upon click of the product info image?
If you want the same image, just resized, then you don't need ANY _MED, or _LRG images AT ALL.

I just want the same image resized. I was giving you the info on the _LRG and _MED files, where i tried placing them, and what happened, simply to try to give everyone an idea of how IH2 is behaving.
I just tried moving a few product images from the images/product_images folder to the default image folder (and, of course updated the path in the database for the product to reflect the change) and it still did not watermark the image. I also tried clearing the cache through the IH2 admin - didn't fix it either... hmph :(
