Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
I hope I'm on the right thread - my apologies if not. We've just updated to the latest version of Zencart but its thrown out our ability to integrate with Protx. Please can someone point me in the direction of the right mod (and we'd be delighted to pay someone to fix it for us)
Many thanks

Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hello
We have installed the Protx Direct contrib on our store and it seems fine until you confirm the order at Step 3 of 3 - it then simple sends you back to Step 2 of 3 so that you can enter your card details again...
Can anybody quickly tell me what's on going on before I spend hours digging in the code.
Thanks
Andy

The code works fine so there's no point digging through it. :)
I don't know exactly what problem you are having but you are only ever returned from step 3 to 2 if there is a problem with the card details entered or with your protx account. The only other reason you could be returned would be a problem with your installation of the module and/or Zen Cart.
Do you get any error messages displayed when returned?
All the best...

You should set the module to "Test" or "Live" - and be sure to set the correct vendor name.
Everything should be fine then. You should then log into your VSP admin and void/refund any test transactions.

Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Please can someone help!
I am getting the error message (Couldnt create a transaction (VRTXInvalidIPAddress, ) when someone tries to make a payment. My host has given me my own dedicated IP address which I have put into my Protx admin. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Gary
-
Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
You need to use your SERVER IP address in the Protx admin, not your shop dedicated IP.
Ask your host what the IP address of your server is.
-
Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Thanks for the reply Pixxi,
I've got it working now. I just noticed something else! I am running some test transactions and using my own card. When I make a purchase and PURPOSELY put in the CV2 number incorrectly, it is still authorized!
I have the fraud checking options turned on in the Protx account administration with the rule 'Allow SECURITY CODE MATCH ONLY (Address fails, CV2 check succeeds)' also active for purchases between 0 - 100000. Surely the payment should have failed?
any ideas?
-
Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
When you added your IP address in the VSP admin site did you make sure you added the element of the IP as three digit codes? If not then just check that they didn't interpret a 16 as a 160!
This happened to me...

Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
Yep, the IP address is fine but, for some reason, it's still authorising transactions when the CCV is incorrect!
Mmmmmmmmmmm, any ideas?

Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
If you look at the rule you've created in the Protx admin, does it have a green tick below the CVV header, and red crosses for the other sections?

The CVV code isn't checked for validity in test mode, only in live mode. For a full test of the system you will have to actually charge your card and then VOID it in the VSP admin.
Glad to have another happy camper on board!
Thanks Pixxi for helping out again in the thread! :)

The reasoning behind this behaviour is quite obvious in retrospect (got me at first too though! ;) )... if you could check CVV codes in test mode then you could carry out a brute force attack on a card very easily indeed. By forcing the use of live mode every transaction is recorded by the bank and fully traceable.

Sorry Conor I've been a bit lax in replying to this but your mod and the support you offer is appreciated. My latest donation is on the way. :D
I hope everybody who is looking forward to the next release has thanked Conor. Even if everyone who is using this mod sent a £5 or £10 token gesture it would help as there must be a fair few of us now.
Thanks again for everything.

Thanks very much for the support, it is greatly appreciated! I'll put your donation in a kitty towards the upgrade of the module to support the new protocols when they are released.
As you say, many have downloaded this module but it is a rare few that have donated.

We still haven't got our account upgraded to 3D secure (the "Partner Manager" is away until next week apparently). Has anyone here had their account upgraded yet?

I wouldn't say that, this is an open source project and we're happy to contribute to the community. I would hope though that everyone who uses Zen Cart contributes to the community in some way (helping people out on the forums is a great contribution IMO).. unfortunately you do come across some who are just "take, take, take"... they get all the software, plenty of e-mails giving them support and never give anything back... that's what I'd call rude. :P
Anyway... not really a discussion for this thread... back on topic... Just got this e-mail from protx 15 mins ago:
"Thank you for your interest in our new Authorize and Authenticate system due for release in March 2007, we will ensure to provide you with information on what you will need to do in order to implement this at the earliest possible juncture"
Think they're getting sick of me asking when I can get my hands on the code for the new protocols!

Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Protx Support often ask me to change the URLs that the server is pointing to, like this:
I read through the documentation and I don't see anything about changing the address, and I don't see a place in the admin to do this. Does anyone know if this is possible to do? I just need to have something to tell Protx support :)
-
Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
If you 'edit' the Protx mod in your shop admin, there's three radio buttons that sets the transaction mode:
Live
Test
VSP Simulator
Make sure it's set to 'Live' and you should be ok.
-
Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Right, I did set it to Live. Protx Support seem to think that it's somehow going to the wrong URL. Is that impossible?
-
Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
The URL's the mod uses are hardcoded in includes/modules/payment/protx_direct.php:
PHP Code:
switch (MODULE_PAYMENT_PROTX_DIRECT_TRANSACTION_MODE) {
case 'Live':
$url = 'https://ukvps.protx.com/vpsDirectAuth/PaymentGateway.asp';
break;
case 'Test':
$url = 'https://ukvpstest.protx.com/vpsDirectAuth/PaymentGateway.asp';
break;
case 'VSP Simulator':
$url = 'https://ukvpstest.protx.com/VSPSimulator/VSPDirectGateway.asp';
break;
}
So they should be going to the right URL.
If it's not working, what errors are you getting?
-
Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
I have got in contact with lemuria privately about this. There is nothing wrong with her protx/Zen Cart set up so we can consider this a "case closed" as far as this thread goes.
Unfortunately her apache installation isn't working correctly and is failing with a 503 error when particular error messages are to be displayed in Zen Cart, due to some strange URL parsing problem on her server. The problems have nothing to do with Zen Cart, Protx or the Protx Direct module (thankfully ;) ).
Thanks again Pixxi for taking time to help others out here! :)
All the best...

Re: NEW! Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Just a FYI for anyone who has a customer with problems going through checkout with a Visa debit card.
It seems some Visa debit cards have an issue number on them - the Halifax debit card, for example.
If the customer enters the issue number on checkout the transaction can fail with a decline from the bank. If you contact the customer and obtain the card details to process through VSP terminal, putting the issue number in VSP terminal will fail with an error (in the Protx VSP admin) similar to: 'The issue number is malformed or invalid'. The transaction will process fine if no issue number is entered.
Protx tech support have also said that an issue number entered as '01' is not seen as the same (by the Protx system) as an issue number entered as '1' - apparently, each digit is taken separately - so if it says '01' on the card, then '01' needs to be entered.
Good fun
Of course, we can put 'Switch/Solo only' next to the Issue No. and 'Start date' entry fields in checkout to try to prevent this, but some customers don't always read ..
Might it be an idea to have the issue No. and Start date fields only appear if Switch/Maestro is chosen from the drop-down?
BTW, Protx tech support say that the integration details/callbacks for 3D Secure are now available - but only, so far, in the ASP integration kit (the PHP kit is not yet published):

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
This is the problem I was talking about before. Our clients have the same problem, so for the past few months they've been displaying the following message on their site, just above the Start Date/Issue Number:
Quote:
You need to fill in the following fields ONLY if the information is on your card. NOTE: Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Abbey customers do not need to enter an issue number.
Protx keep saying that 3D secure will be applied to accounts, blah, blah, blah, "soon" but it's almost April and I've still not had my account upgraded. I'm not impressed with their service much any longer... but then they are at least good value for money.
What I have said to them previously and what annoys me is that you can use your Halifax card at Amazon and put in the issue number and Amazon's payment processor doesn't mess up but protx does. Protx claim this isn't their problem... well why can Amazon get it to work then? (Bet no-one at Protx has a good answer for that!)
I'm under the understanding that moving to Authorise/Authenticate will stop these issues occurring. If it doesn't then I think drumming up a bit of dissent from all of us here and going to Protx en masse would be the next logical step... they aren't listening to me! :)
As far as 3D secure goes, I can easily convert ASP code to PHP. The problem is, despite repeated requests, I'm constantly told that my account will be "upgraded soon". Why is it that so many companies that have such easy jobs (process a card number, take a cut of the order value etc.) can be run so badly in the end?
Agh well... rant over! :)
I have been holding off releasing version 2.0.5 as I keep thinking Protx will move things on... I'll speak to them again early next week and if no progress is made I release the latest version of the code which allows you to specify a custom message above the start date/issue number. Maybe I'll even upgrade it to hide those fields using javascript as you described.
I'd rather Protx just worked though! ;)
All the best...

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi Conor,
Ah .. I must have missed your earlier post when you mentioned that. :)
Strangely, I had a look at an Abbey (business account) Visa debit card today and there is no issue number - so maybe it's just on non-business accounts (?).
I also saw a Halifax Visa debit card - there was an issue number tucked away at the end of the sort code/account number line, but it wasn't described as 'Issue No.' (ie no text before it). Perhaps (hopefully...) it's mainly a problem with older cards.
While I was talking to Protx tech support today the tech guy mentioned that 3D secure had been enabled on the account I was discussing - and sure enough it is enabled on the live account, although not on the test account.
If your client doesn't have his account enabled soon, I can give you access through my client's account to the test server if you wish - assuming Protx will enable 3D on the test server (which would be sensible so we can test it out before going live with it anyway).
I'll email Protx now and ask them.
-
Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi Conor,
I have 3D enabled on our Protx test server now - let me know if you would like to use it.
-
Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
Just got off the phone with Protx's technical support. Was speaking to a very helpful guy who was able to answer all my questions.
Protx are getting reading to roll out a test of the Authenticate/Authorise Authorisation Types over the next week or so... good news indeed! That means I can begin testing on it shortly.
I've made them aware of the problems with Halifax, Bank of Scotland and Abbey cards so hopefully they'll be sorting those out soon (cards being declined if an issue number is entered).
I've also had 3D secure enabled on my test account so I can start updating the module to support it.
All in all, a refreshingly helpful chat with a technical support department.. hats off to the guys at Protx's tech support!
All the best...

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi
Is it OK to setup and use 3D secure with Protx?
I presume that the current version will not have a problem with 3DS but the new version will perhaps report the result back to zencart?
Obviously I want to set up 3DS rules as well as cvv rules to limit fraud.
Just about to go live and everything seems to be OK so far.
Thanks

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
The current version of the module does not support 3D Secure.
I've looked into how 3D secure works and know exactly how I'm going to go about integrating it with this module.
However, it's a considerable amount of work so I'm not going to start on it until next week. How long it will take to release may very well depend on how many people are willing to donate towards implementing 3D secure as we can't afford to develop it for free at this time (it really is too much work to be done quickly with just a few hours of development time allocated each week).
All the best...

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi and thanks for the prompt reply.
I presume that I should NOT turn on 3DS with Protx then or the system will break?
As soon as I am live and accepting payments, I shall certainly donate.
Thanks for all the help.

Unfortunately you must keep 3D Secure switched off otherwise all transactions that could possibly use 3D secure will be declined.
(Instead of receiving the response "OK", 3D Secure transactions send back a response "3DAUTH", which is treated the same as "NOT OK" by the module at this time ;) ).
Glad to be of help! :)

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
We haven't received any donations towards 3D secure.
To be honest we hadn't been expecting many as I hadn't actually "put out a formal call" for donations as such. However, we've had a good look at things and releasing the module for free here and hoping for some donations to cover the time it has taken/takes to make this module available just isn't sustainable for us. In fact, we've lost a fair bit of money making this module available to the ZC community!
We're sorry that it has come to this stage but we have suspended downloads of the module as we consider our future direction regarding this matter.
We've recently been made aware that some other developers charge for downloading their payment modules. Given that anyone who uses Protx must be in some way serious about their store we are considering going in that direction also.
The few people who have donated (some of whom have done so twice and almost swelled the total number of donations to double digits - thanks for that! ;) ) are of course entitled to free upgrades and are the recipients of our most sincere thanks!
When we've made a decision about the new licensing situation for our Protx modules we'll of course let everyone here know.
All the best...

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi, Conor
I support you charge for mod. I know the difficulty of programming and always appreciate such works. Anyone spend time to develop such useful mods deserves some rewards.
From user point of view, I rather buy licence of mod than free use it. because by paying for the licence, you will have time to develop or upgrade new mod in time, and support users. this is fair!
on the other hand, if it still as free as now, although we made some donates but becuase a lot of other users have not donated, this is no fair.
Pay to use, this is the only way forward and fair!
Count me in, like Brent, I will surely buy your mods. your mods are always work great!
thank you!

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
Brent and doubletiger, I'm not surprised that you two posted, you have been so very generous with your time and donations!
You two are of course entitled to free upgrades!
We've decided that there will be a charge for a full-featured version of the module in future.
It's not the way we'd wanted to go, we wanted to keep this open source, but when hundreds of people download and almost no-one donates (or even sends thanks), your motivation to spend even more of your free time on a project dissipates somewhat.
A basic version (minus 3D Secure support, so no Maestro support) will be made available for free for those who'd like to try the module before putting their hands in their pockets. It will of course be unsupported though.
I'll post here again when the new version (2.4) is available with 3D Secure support. At the same time we'll release the cut-down basic version.
All the best...

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
More and more sites in the UK now surcharge for accepting credit cards. I've just booked 4 tickets with a no frills airline and they wanted £18. What was worse they wanted £8 to pay by debit card which I thought was a bit much.
We accept credit cards but I would like to encourage debit cards. I have therefore asked Conor to customise his mod for my site so it includes support for surcharges/discounts.
Quote:
Each Card Type can have a Table of Rates specified which result in particular order values having either a Surcharge or a Discount applied when a customer choses that Card Type to pay for their order.
The Tables of Rates are comma-separated lists of Limits/Rates, each of which is an Order Value Limits Range and a Rate, separated by a colon.
There are two ways to specify the limits:
1. A single number specifies a maximum limit. The minimum is then assumed to be zero.
2. Two numbers separated by a dash, e.g. 30-50, specifies a minimum and a maximum limit.
For example, the following could be entered for the Visa Card Surcharges/Discounts configuration value:
1000:2.00,3000:1.50,*:0
This would result (if the Surcharges/Discounts functionality is enabled of course) in any orders with a default currency value of less than 1000 having a surcharge of 2.00 applied. Orders from 2000 up to 3000 would have a surcharge of 1.50 applied. All remaining order values would have no surcharge applied.
The asterix symbol (‘*’) is a special wildcard that can be used to match any order value so it can be used as a catch-all, if necessary.
Rates can be defined as either:
1. A specific value (E.g. “2.50”).
2. A percentage value (E.g. “3%”).
Discounts are entered by preceding the rate with a minus symbol (‘-’).
An example of discounts to be applied to a card for orders could be defined as:
1000-2000:-0.50,*:-2%
This would result in orders from 1000 up to 2000 having a 0.50 discount applied and all orders of 2000 and above having a two percent discount applied.
Specific messages can be defined for each Card Type which uses the Surcharges/Discounts functionality by creating a define in the Language Definitions file. These specific messages will then be displayed to the user in the order summary rather than the default text of “Card Surcharge” or “Card Discount”.
Example defines have been added to the Languages Definition file. Simply uncomment and edit them or create any that do not yet exist.
This will allow me to either reward or surcharge depending on the card used. I think there is no one size fits all when it comes to surcharges so this module will be fully flexible including doing nothing.
Here's the crunch. I'm looking for fellow Zenners who would like to chip in and share the costs with me. If I can get enough people interested I'm sure we could twist Conor's arm and get him to throw in a free upgrade to 3D Secure when that comes out.
Could anyone interested send me a PM.
Regards
Brent

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi, Brent
Don't you think this will actually put off customers if you apply surcharge to credit card payer? I do not really think it is a good idea. Most the customers will prefer to use credit card rather than debit card, because the leval of security credit card provides. if you run a business which there are a lot competitors, then some cusomters will be put off and leave the shop, go for other shop who do not charge a surcharge.
I will be the last shop to adopt this surchage unless I run a business nobody can compete with me.
this is my though!

I think it may have the potential to put some customers off. Others it won't though. I think this is very much a personal call for a store owner and I can only speak in terms of my own shopping habits... If I come across a site that has card charges I can get a bit frustrated, but if the product's price is good in the first place I won't go elsewhere. However, if I see that a debit card is 40p but credit cards cost an additional 2% then I'll go to the bother of paying by debit card. If no charges are listed I'll always use a credit card, which will cost you as a store owner more!
That means that listing surcharges may have the potential to save your shop shop a considerable amount of money by paying your bank less for card charges... on the other hand, you could potentially lose customers. Personally, I feel that you wouldn't lose customers if your products' prices are right but that's just my own feeling on the subject and it very much up to how your market your company.
So it's up to each store owner to decide on their own policy but I thought I'd just add my two cents on the subject... the more feedback/opinions the better on this kind issue I feel!
All the best...

That's why is said "there is no one size fits all approach".
It also depends on the size of your orders. Easier to swallow 2.5% of £50 than £1000. You have the option of applying surcharges over a certain amount.

That's exactly what I do and the reason for wanting this.
Doubletiger, you are viewing this from a negative standpoint. I agree surcharges can never be good news from a customers point of view but there is the reverse approach. Discounts for paying by debit card. If you pay 2.5% to process credit cards offer a 1% discount for choosing to pay by debit card.
It also depends on the whole package you offer. We are not a stack them high and sell it cheap outfit and offer vast amounts of pre sales and after sales technical backup so customers have good incentives to stick with us.
Another factor is confidence. Do customers feel happy handing over payment without the security credit cards offer? Do you list contact addresses and phone numbers. If numbers do you answer the phone etc.? We have many customers who call us up first just to get a feel for things before ordering.
With this bit of code you can test the water as you have the switch - Apply Surcharges Yes/No.

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi
I've only just gone live with the Protx contribution after switching from WorldPay and everything is going well so far. Therefore I am now in a position to donate. However, I think I am in a little sticky position after Conor's announcement re charging.
Do I send in a donation so that I 'escape' future charges? What will Conor charge for the contribution? Will a small donation seem cheeky?
I'm all for getting the 3DS up and running but regarding Brent's idea of a surcharge/discount option, I don't think I'll need that.
I understand where both Brent and doubletiger are coming from but my philosophy is to try and keep thing simple for both me and my customers! Initially we did not charge extra for UK shipping when we first set up our online shop to keep things simple and have an all in one price for our customers. We have relented a little since and charge for orders under £15.
There's my thoughts anyhow. If you want to PM me regarding donation or charge Conor, go ahead.

We haven't decided on pricing yet but yes, if you make a "reasonable" donation now you will be entitled to free upgrades... wouldn't penalise someone for unfortunate timing! :)
(When I say "reasonable" I simply mean that if the donation was way, way below what we decide to charge then we may feel we have to ask for a bit of the difference... would be unfair to others otherwise!).
Glad to hear that the module is serving you well... it's nice to get feedback from people!
Although we may be moving to a charging model, it's not for the purposes of making any real money off the contribution, unfortunately it's mainly to stem the losses we've incurred so far - it takes a lot of time to develop and maintain this package, especially when the API is changing so radically right now - we're no longer prepared to spend days on end essentially working for free as we don't even have a shop ourselves! :shocking: :P
(That last sentence isn't directed at anyone here of course, it's simply me saying where we're coming from in this regard! :) ).
All the best...
Conor

It shouldn't really be an issue of seeing what is the lowest you can get away with.
Conor's contributions are well planned, the documentation is excellent and the code tends to be bug free. Where small bugs do slip through they are fixed in double quick time.
Just consider how much it costs you to go to a restaurant, the cinema or night on the town. That experience is soon forgotten but you'll be using this code for as long as you are with Protx.
You will be saving money by moving from Worldpay so make a donation that is reasonable to you. This has to be an individual decision as it is a donation after all.
Regards
Brent

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
I agree with the above post you will save a min of £15 per month moving from Worldpay that doesnt even include the transaction charges. I personally think this Mod is worth a Min of £60, but that is my opinion once the 3D secure code is in place it will be worth a damn sight more.
Think about it could you run your site without this mod ? Yes but it would take so much extra time to manually process the cards, or you pay dbl fees like though worldpay or you will be stuck with paypal / nochex.
Your donation should be based on what its worth to your business, not how short your arms are.
Personally I have just done a second donation for it today (I also use the new postcode shipping mod by Conor) So I wanted to make a donation for that too as its already saved me over £40.

Just did not want to be seen to be donating and getting away without paying future charges.

Hi,
Thanks everyone for the comments and support... it's great to see more interest in the module!

I don't think anyone here's saying anything of the sort.. dasonix and Brent are just making general (and appreciated) comments as far as I can see. I certainly hope that you don't think anyone's talking about you... I've been very pleased to get your feedback and the fact that you are donating as well is just fantastic... couldn't ask for more from a user!
Quote:

As I said in my previous post, it's not seen in that way by me at all! This whole charging thing only came up recently with the move to 3D Secure etc and it's with great regret that I have had to muddy the waters by pre-announcing charging... the timing has obviously conflicted with your usage of the mod and I have to apologise profusely for creating this confusing situation! Your support is greatly appreciated and I won't have you think otherwise for a second! :P

Same here.
It is in all our interests to ensure Conor at least covers his costs and makes something extra to put food on the table. If he drops all support and moves on to other things we will all be stuck.

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Thanks guys, I'm sure not having a dig at anyone either :)
Thanks for everything Conor. I have discussed donating with my 'partners' and I have sent a 'small' donation today.
If everything goes to plan I will be able to donate again when 3DS is available.
Thanks again.

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
Just a quick update...
3D-Secure support has been completed and is running perfectly on our test server.
We're hoping to release early next week, just a few more nice features to add first!
Have a good weekend everybody and thanks once again to those who have donated, it's made a big difference to our ability to spend time working on this module.
All the best...

Hi,
Have got a bit snowed under here but haven't forgotten about you all... will release as soon as possible.

We're waiting on getting a merchant account set up so initially it'll be a case of making a paypal payment of the appropriate amount then we'll send you the new version and an invoice.
Hopefully it won't be too long until we can get an automated solution up and running (who likes making invoices?! ;) ).

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Why Not Use ZEN cart Conor ;) for all your e-commerce needs LOL
-
Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
lol I know how that sounds... ZC doesn't really suit for what we need, no need for a cart etc. Obviously we'll fold our solution back into our "Zen Cart Shop Module" at some point but for the meantime we just have to write one ourselves.
Being familiar with ZC does give us a lot of pointers on how to do things though of course!

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hey, I'm looking to create a shopping cart / secure payment system using ProtX but I have little knowledge in it all.
I am at a decent level of PHP & MySQL so this is not a problem, but is this module something that can easily be used and altered to my exact needs?
Will be looking to donate if its what I need :)
Thanks!

You don't actually need any PHP/MySQL skills to use the module as it fully supports ZC's module/override system. CSS skills are useful though to add in the styles (As per the docs ;) ).
We are very close to being able to make version 3.0.0 available but in the meantime you can get version 2.0.4 by sending an e-mail to the address on the module's website and we get it off to you!

Conor can I make a request for the next version please.
Can you switch the order in which Valid from and Exp Dates are shown in the mod to make the flow of the transaction more fluid.
TY

I can add that in as an option but it won't be the default behaviour.
The Start Date and Issue Number are optional and there are problems with Protx's systems if either are entered for certain Card Issuers' Visa/Mastercards so it necessary to display a message above the Start Date and Issue number if you want to notify the customer about these problems and avoid missed sales. For this reason the default order will stay optimised as it is for the display of this message and the re-enforcement of the fact that these details aren't always necessary.
If you have the order changed about you'll possibly have more customers experiencing problems as more will enter the start date but it's an easy option to add in so if you can confirm if you still want it I'll add it in! :D
All the best...

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
ok fair enough, TY for the reply
-
Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Thanks for the reply Conor.
Will the plugin work only with ZC or is it possible to use with a simple shopping cart I have created myself ?
As it would mean stripping down ZC to bare minimum as I only require a shopping cart with ProtX payment system, otherwise I will have to look into ProtX myself which I have no experience of.
Thanks

It's designed for Zen Cart of course.
You could rip the parts out of it you need to create your own protx payment system for your own cart but obviously it's up to you to do the work then. :P
One thing I would have to add is that the module as it stands is GPLed so you'd have to make your cart software available under the GPL also. Legally speaking of course.

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
I'm wondering when the module will be available for download again?
(I'm making a site for a friend, and I've been somewhat stalled because of my failure to download the module when I started work.)

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
Soon. :)
The modules are done but the documentation and website are holding things up. We're doing our best to get these finished up asap so we can release but they are taking quite some time.
In the meantime, as stated previously, please e-mail us at the contact e-mail address on the module's website and we'll send you the free/basic version of the module!
All the best...

Version 2.2.0 Released!
Hi!
We're really pleased to announce that the free version of the module has been re-released and is now available for download...
Download from the module's website
This is probably the final version of the free version of the module and, as noted in the documentation, is unsupported.
Existing users of the module who accept Switch/Maestro should NOT upgrade!
All of the features added to this free version of the module are also present in the full version, version 3.0.0, so you should wait for it unless you don't need Switch/Maestro support.
Version 3.0.0 will be released shortly. We've been having no end of trouble getting a merchant account set up so we've had to temporarily shelve our plans for a new website for the module and will instead have to use paypal links (ugh!). Don't worry though, everything will be in place in good time for the Maestro 3D-Secure switchover!
The changes from 2.0.4 to 2.2.0 are as follows:
[ADDED] Ability to specify message about problems with Start Dates/Issue Numbers for particular cards added.
[ADDED] Configuration checks added to Languages Definitions file so that any currency configuration issues/conflicts can be highlighted in the admin.
[ADDED] Option to get the IP address used by the store's server added to help with the configuration of the VSP admin.
[UPDATED] Support for Switch/Maestro dropped for version 2.x as the changeover from Switch to Maestro in June 2007 means that Maestro cards will require 3D-Secure verification. Version 3.0.0, having full 3D-Secure support, will have full support for Maestro cards.
[UPDATED] Admin configuration keys kludged to implement nicely laid out configuration sections. Should help make configuring the module even clearer!
[UPDATED] Communication settings updated to allow for longer timeouts when contacting Protx and for verification of Protx's SSL host.
[UPDATED] Documentation updated to add a Configuration Section and to detail the new features.
[UPDATED] Length of Encryption Keyphrase restricted to 56 characters.
[BUGFIX] An attempt to send the delivery address is no longer made for orders which consist entirely of virtual products.
[BUGFIX] Handling of Protx's response updated to parse the data more reliably (as the response can be Base64 encoded, equals signs can be part of the actual value for a key/value pair).
All the best...
Conor

Re: Version 2.2.0 Released!
any news on the full version Conor?
-
Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi,
We've (hopefully) just managed to get a merchant account sorted so we'll be holding off releasing the module until that comes through. It could be as little as a week or as much as two, they aren't sure. It's not long now though so I appreciate your patience!
I think that given that, it might be a good idea to release the module to those who have already qualified for a free upgrade. I'll see to that over the next few days.
Sorry for the delays thus far!
All the best...

BUGFIX! Protx VSP Direct v2.2.1 Released
Hi!
Apologies to all users of version 2.2.0.
A bug in the AVS/CV2 configuration setting was found which could cause any transaction to be reported as Malformed and therefore fail! :(
Version 2.2.1 has been released, ALL users of version 2.2.0 should upgrade!
The bug doesn't affect any other version of the module.
On other news, we'll be sending a few people version 3.0.0 this evening so they can start using 3D-Secure, in anticipation of us receiving a merchant account tomorrow and therefore being able to release the commercial version 3.0.0 at long last!
Sorry once again about the silly error (a small d instead of a capital D - argh!).
All the best...

The "TABLE_PROTX_DIRECT" indicates that you haven't copied all the files from the module across to your store properly. The file
includes/extra_datafiles/protx_direct_database_tables.php
at the very least is missing!

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi Conor,
Having a few problems, well 2.
I checked over my install to make sure i had not missed any more files out and noticed i had miss the config.protx_directSessionCleaner from includes/auto_loders/overrides. so i installed it and oops! i get the following error message; Fatal error: Cannot instantiate non-existent class: protx_directsessioncleaner in /home/jaso3019/public_html/includes/autoload_func.php on line 79
Also i have successfully tested, but on going live I'm having problems with connection to protx, the transactions are coming back as AVS CV2 failed.
I have spoke to protx and they have not received and transactions?
It's sods law the very last thing before launch and i seem to be making a pigs ear of it.
And just for good measure is there any way of having the Zones set to a UK default with out having to set a different rate for all the county's?
Thanks for the help

Are you using 2.2.0? If so, you must upgrade to 2.2.1 as there is a problem with AVS settings in 2.2.0 (as it says on the module's website and the post right before yours ;) ) - Sorry about that! (Don't want to add to your stress :) ).

Unfortunately it's Friday afternoon and we still haven't gone live because Lloyds Cardnet are dragging their feet on providing Protx with our terminal IDs.
We'd really wanted to release the new modules by today but we have been held back again. :(

This is not the post we were expecting to have to make.
It will now be Tuesday that we can release the new version by the looks of things.
That is cutting things tight in terms of Switch becoming Maestro on 7th June and for this we apologise profusely and unreservedly.
I'll keep you updated with developments as soon as they happen; we will do everything we can to give you as much time as possible next week to upgrade and therefore make sure your stores can keep accepting Maestro (via 3D-Secure).

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Hi
Firstly I apologise if this question has been answered somewhere else on the forum, but I have looked and I have not found anything.
I am currently running zen 1.2.5, which I know is not ideal, but due to the amount of mods applied, would be a long job to move to the latest version. I use protx, and an old module that I think was written by Jason (networkdad).
I now need to upgrade to get the facilty of 3d secure, as I beleive some cards will not be accepting transactions without it soon. Maybe someone can confirm that to me.
Can I have some guidance the best way to change from the old protx direct contribution to the new one here, with the minimum downtime involved. For example can I get the new one working without 3d secure then switch the facility of that on afterwards. If I install the v2.21 contibution are all cards accepted with it ? Is it easier to upgrade to v3 with 3d secure availability from version 2.21, or should I just wait for v3 and do it all in one go. Can I install the new version and test it while the old version is still running live on the shop.
Any help and guidance on this would be appreciated.
Regards
Laurie

International Maestro cards require 3D-Secure authorisation as of the 7th June.. we'd wanted to get the new module available before then but there were some problems... more about that in a separate post..
Quote:

You will have to uninstall the version of the module you have now, then install the new version of Protx. Since you want to make use of 3D-Secure functionality it would be better simply to wait for and get version 3.0.0 rather than installing 2.2.1 and then upgrading a day or two later!
I'm not sure how the database updates will affect you since you are using Jason's old module... you'll have to send me the database schema for your protx_direct table so I can check if you can upgrade it or if you'll have to regard it as an "archive" and rename it.
If you're not sure what I'm on about then it'd probably be best if you e-mailed me your log in details for your store and any control panel you use to manage your server (so I can log into PHPMyAdmin for example). You'll find the support address on the Protx Direct module's website.
Hope that helps!
All the best...

Update
Hi,
Sorry for the lack of info over the past few days, hopefully not too many have been affected by the changeover from Switch to Maestro yesterday and the subsequent requirement for 3D-Secure for International Maestro transactions.
It'll be a month or two yet before UK Maestro will require 3D-Secure also and there haven't been any posts here about failures so I'm hoping that my absence hasn't negatively affected anyone!
On to the update...
We have our merchant account running and so have finally been able to carry out extensive live testing with 3D-Secure (before we had only tested with the Simulator and our test account). We found a few "problems" but were able to determine, with Protx tech support's help, what was going "wrong" and why, and have updated the final release version of the module accordingly.
To be honest, there weren't any "actual" problems with the module, simply unexpected responses from Protx, which they have explained and for which we have updated the documentation, so that all new users of version 3.0.0 will have a "heads up" from the start on how things work and therefore no need to worry when these "unusual" responses are received (and they will be! ;) ).
Subsequently we'll be releasing the module once and for all on Monday.. would have it available tonight if possible but have just run out of time, due in part to illness over the past few days (when it rains it pours ;) ).
Hope all are well
All the best,
Conor

Re: Protx VSP Direct v2.0.0
Have downloaded V3 but have a very simple 'chicken and egg' question.
I feel a bit stupid asking this but does it make any difference which action we take first ie upgrade to V3 first and then activate the Protx 3D Secure option or the other way round. I mean, I assume V2 will still work with Protx 3D Secure, if we activate first before installing V3.
Cheers

Thanks very much for that, it's great to see some people using the module! (Although it was released yesterday we've pegged in tomorrow as the proper announcement date to give us time to have the site in place and create a new thread here etc.)

Version 2.x will not work with 3D-Secure, please don't enable 3D-Secure in your VSP Admin until you have version 3 installed! Your site could stop working for any 3D-Secure enabled cards then! :lookaroun
Simply install version 3 as per the upgrade instructions and then pop into your VSP admin and enable 3D-Secure... it's as easy as that!
Hope that has you sorted! :)

As promised, those who donated after 18th April will receive a full credit against the module of the amount they donated - just have to get the gift certificate aspect of the store sorted!
That'll be up and running this afternoon so we'll get your certificate off to you then. (Which in your case is rather large, thanks ;) ).
This means you'll have an account on the site where you can download updates as soon as they're released and you'll get a full tax invoice for your business records (and who running a business doesn't like to write off the tax? :) ).

BUG RELEASE! Protx VSP Direct v3.0.2
Hi,
This is an important announcement!
A major bug has been fixed in version 3.0.x and all users of 3.0.0 or 3.0.1 MUST upgrade!
The upgrade is simple, no reinstallation is required, just a few updated files have to be copied across.
Please visit the store to download the updated version.. the filenames for the zips are the same but they have been updated (as can be seen by the new version number inside).
Sorry about the inconvenience, but Protx have to take the blame for this one! :yuck:
All the best...

Yes, yes and yes.
You can use the module without SSL but not as many customers will buy from you.
SSL is easily added to your site by your host though and can cost as little as $15 a year so it's not a big deal!
Alternatively, Protx Form allows the use of Protx and Streamline without you having to have a SSL certificate:

Hope that helps!
