Just tried this mod again after a fresh install of 1.3.7, it worked for awhile, now I have having the same issue as before:
each time I try to view some function in admin>user tracking I get kicked out to admin login screen, and loops me back to this page, after I login.
Has has anyone fixed this issue, I am about to give up on this...
Some people seem to find this happens every time they try to access UT, some find it happens occasionally, and some never have it happen at all. Usually once you've been logged out once, you can then log back in and use the UT mod fine - until the next time you login.
I've noticed it once or twice just after the UT mod came out, but not since.
Earlier in this thread Inksale mentioned that he'd also seen it happen with other mods that use the Tools menu, so suspected it may not be confined to UT.
I vaguely remember this being discussed in the old(er) UT thread - which will now be in the archives section - perhaps there's a workaround or reason there.

Though I have never witnessed this behavior personally I have heard a few folks say this has happened to them with other admin contributions. As Pixxi says I doubt this has anything to do specifically with the UT mod, but more likely something to do with session configuration or contributions that somehow affect the admin sessions causing the admin session to expire to quickly.
I can only suggest examining the configuration for configuration -> mystore -> Admin Session Time Out in Seconds and search the forums for "admin session timeout" where you will find much information.
Are you using any contribs such as admin profiles? If so you might check that thread to see if there are answers there...

I have searched the forums in the last few weeks, and have seen a few others with a similar issue (awhile back), but no resolution.
I have had UT running successfully with no issues for 2 months, on a test site, but my main site (with a different host), has been nothing but trouble (i have tried many fresh installs). A bit disheartened today, I rebuilt my site, without UT, as I don't have any more time to trouble shoot. It is a great Mod and perhaps I will re-install it one day, but for right now I have to start with less and build up when I have more time.
Again, thank you all very much for responses and concern.
I've noticed another bizarre behavior: When a "guest" has items in his shopping cart - all the other prior "guests" have the same items in their shopping carts too.
This is 1.3.7 UT on 1.3.7 zc.
Any suggestions?

I can not get hold of this updated version either as the site appears to be down. Everything is fine on my current UT except that I don't get page titles on my products. As I believe this update fixes that, it would be handy to get it. Anyone else able to post where to download this from?Quote:

Sorry I don't know of another location to download. It is a standard zip file created with WinZip. I just downloaded on another PC and opened /extracted with 7-Zip and WinRAR. Try downloading again. If that does not work PM me your email address.Quote:

Document the prefix for your shop's DB tables, if you are using a prefix. If you are not, then rather than using Zen Carts built in SQL Executor I recommend patching via phpmyadmin.
But if you do have a table prefix, then paste in the SQL code into the form at Tools > Install SQL Patches. But avoid uploading the sql file, as this can be problematic.
When you install the patch be sure to completely record and report any error message(s) which you observe.

In some previous UT releases User Tracking And User Tracking Config both were set up to display on the tools menu. Other versions were developed which had User Tracking Config show up under the Configuration menu.
Also DrByte previously has stated User Tracking utilizes unique install techniques, which are advanced in their own way but can be problematic in other ways.
So I suspect the UT menu config/conflict/upgrade issues many of us have observed are a culmination of the above.

Regards to future development of the User Tracking mod & repair of UT menu config issues:
Pinghead is not supporting the mod any longer and we haven't seen JeffD around for some time. Where is Jeff?
Andrew has proven repeatedly he understands Zen Cart SQL installer technology and the mods he produces are top notch. Maybe if we cheer Andrew on a bit he would be willing to take this mod under his wing and apply his knowledge to repair the constant SQL installation issues we repeatedly observe wiith this mod?
Might be best to create an uninstaller that deals with all the other past versions (which I have copies of, if needed), and then patch the db with fresh SQL, rather than developing an updater for all the various different past versions. At the same time maybe take both Pinghead's and JeffD's latest versions of User Tracking, and merge the best features of both (In this thread I learned JeffD based his version on older User Tracking version, not aware of Pinghead's version. So both versions are slightly different and each have beneficial features the other version does not have).
If I had more understanding of SQL I would help. but I don't. Studying the mySQL manual is not getting me far enough fast enough.

After posting in a few other places I found this thread. I am not very knowledgeable about directories and such. I hope someone will take the time to guide me as to what I need to do to get this working on my site. I've uploaded user tracking to my site and the sql patch. User tracking is in my Admin Config. but not in the tools so I can use it. Please tell me what directory or directories user tracking needs to be in to work also I have seen readme about the footer and such but I do not understand where that is. I have spiders/robots on my site that keep showing in User Tracking. I can't delete them as they don't have a session ID. The lists can get very long as they are always on. Anyway to get rid? I think they have started since I changed my meta tag to robots index follow

I don't think the error is related to user tracking. You may have muffed up something while editing. If this is not the case then you may have another mod which is calling the same class file. Search your install using the Developers Tool Kit (in admin under Tools) to see if you find multiple references to whatever is being called on line 17. (you will need to open class.base.php first).Quote:

I previously was running zen 1.3.6 with user tracking no problem. Just upgraded to zen 1.3.7 and ran the new user tracking install. I'm getting the following error from myphpadmin. I see in zen admin tools I have the "user tracking config" but when I select that there is nothing showing. Please Help!!!!!!!

The configuration_group_id is protected ... meaning you cannot have more than 1 record with the same configuration_group_id ...
You are trying to add to configuration_group_id 999 so look via phpMyAdmin and see if this value is already used by this add-on or used by something else ...

Yes I'm looking in phpmyadmin and I do have a table "configuration_group". I also tried the same SQL query to update from Zen - admin/tools and get a little more info but really same error.

OK, the user tracking mod that is in download area does not work for us who previously had user tracking installed with zen 1.3.6. The SQL patch gives errors, but somehow I was able to get around with a previous SQL patch by another user. This mod really nees to be taken off the download pages.
While I can see user tracking information. I also have 2 selections of "user tracking". One if the admin configuration and one in tools. In both of these cases I get no options at all but a blank screen. I reloaded files but still same issue.
Any advice?

load the mod from the downloads page and installed it on one site and had no problem. then loaded into my live site and in the user config there is nothing.. both sites are set up the same zen 1.3.7 installed sql files the same way on both data bases, installed files in footers. help....

I installed the User Tracking mod and after a reinstall of the sql databdase it was fine ( you have to apply the sql patch over the admin site!!!)
Well, my problem is the total time, idle time display:

I also seem to have a problem with this mod.
I downloaded the new package that Reza compiled and used that sql update along with the files in the zip.
I have modified the footer page to have the tracking code. looked through this forum for any other input on setting up the mod.
The tracking config appears for me in both the configuration and tools menu.
When I go to the User Tracking report page, there is no info. It says:

Any idea what the issue is? I am using the latest zencart, and never had this mod installed before.

In original UT versions "User Tracking" showed in the Tools menu, and "User Tracking Config" showed up in the Config menu. (Also if you have Admin Profiles mod installed check the readme for that mod and also see the special file provided with Admin Profiles for other helpful info).
Just to be sure, did you or others visit your shop catalog several times immediately after you installed? If it is a fresh UT install, then UT would not know about previous visits.Quote:

I have a feeling My client (owner of store) is sitting there during the day hitting refresh all the time as the Counter History is showing high numbers and I see his IP on alot. I mentioned to him that each time he hits the refresh key it slowly eats up his bandwidth which he has alot of but still limited to a degree, LOL.
Again thanks for this mod. Now hopefully I can see what he does so I can remind him of things, lol.
Ok I have found a :wacko: issue with this mod. When viewing the User Tracker I was visited by a googlebot, well when I try to delete the session, it WON'T go away. Any ideas on what to do as it hit 91 pages and it showed all pages instead of just a small box never even hit the View Session box.

I have installed the files into the correct places and also uploaded the sql file.
any ideas what the problem could be?

I have had a read through this thread and been looking for a way to turn off bots or to by default shrink there session info (page views) does such a hack exist?
As we have either google or yahoo on our site constantly it would be nice to stop there data from hogging the screen when looking at this mods output (looking at over 1200 page views in detail is a right pain in the bum)
In the ideal world something like the visitors mod for OSC would be nice where I can turn bots sessions views on or off

Petter Normann developed a version of User Tracking which contained some features missing in JeffD's version. (Petter's last version Sept 10-06). unless you know your stuff super tracker is a waist of time. since there is no readme to let you know which files to put into the files they belong you will just spend a lot of time guessing. i tried it and seem to have half of it working. it lists it in admin but cant find database. so if anybody knows what thay are doing and can take a look at it and whip up a read me for newbies like me it sounds like it could be a killer mod.

I was looking at some slow queries logs today and noticed user_tracking on the list ... :eek:
Looking further, I noticed that there are no index on the user_tracking table ...
I think it might be a nice idea to hunt down the ideal indexes for this add-on and get some of the load off of the servers ... :smile:
I have installed the user tracking mod and it was working great BUT when Google spidered my site I could not purge it from my records. I could however purge everything esle.

The contrib works fine (as far as I can see, installed it some days ago). The only problem I got is the same one beasley described: Googlebot sessions cannot be deleted, click count is 900 now - and raising.

I had some trouble with the mod, re-installed it and everything seemed to work fine...UNTIL...I entered my site and put a product in the shopping cart, then entered amin user tracker and it shows this product in User Shopping Cart, but in another Session ID from another IP, btw I blocked my IP.
What happened? Any idea?

i am often seeing lines like this in the user tracking module:

I see this when i view a session, the file is one of the templates' images, the one which makes up the sidebox background. The funny thing is that the image is not clickable, and there is no way they could have gotten to click on a link to that image. This often occurs when they are viewing any page especially the download free mp3 page.

Why is user tracking frequently reporting this stuff?
I really like this user tracking mod. I recently had an idea but am not code savvy enough to implement it. I was curious if there is any way (or even an interest from anyone besides myself) to add a notification feature to this mod.
I will explain,
I have some ip's that visit my site I like to keep close eye's on (such as competitor websites) I was curious how difficult it would be to add on a notification feature to this mod that notifies me by email, sms, or both when one of these ip's visit my site. I know this is a stretch. My business takes me on the go a lot so I am not always able to sit down and browse the tracking log to see what they are up to. I just simply need to know when they visit and who so I know where to look when I return to my office.
If somthing like this already exists, I would be greatful for any insight you can provide,

Hi All,
Just tried installing this contrib and ran into an SQL error. I followed the install instruction and tried to apply the patch through phpmyadmin. It seems that the patch won't apply this way if you are using a prefix for tables in your database.
However the problems was easily fixed by applying the patch through admin > Tools > Install Sql Patches. This seems to append the table prefix to the sql query.

Has anyone had success with this? I think it would be a great feature.
Or alternativly, has anyone worked out a neat way to analyze the information? Perhaps find out some stats, turn the data into reports. etc.

This mod has gone through a number of permutations (from Petter and JeffD) but it works for me on Zen Cart 1.37. I have a few minor issues, and others have reported design issues with the mod, but overall it is a tool that I would not want to be without.Quote:

Default pages (pg 2-4) in Information sidebox. Look in your Zen Cart sitemap and you will see links. You will have to disable. Off topic for this thread. Search Zen Cart support forum for posts how to disable. I think how to is also listed in the FAQ.Quote:

Just posting this in case it comes up for someone else. We recently had our mySQL grind to just about a halt for a day while I tore my hair out trying to figure out why. Once or twice in the past we've had yahoo bots go bezerk and spider too vigorously, but that wasn't it this time. Once we had a bot continuously add things to it's cart somehow... but that wasn't it this time...
FINALLY we found it was an old installation of user tracking mod. (I emphasize old in case this issue has been solved). A bot was crawling through the database listings for that mod, which had gotten 1 GB large. The constant queries killed us.
I just removed the mod and the table from mySQL since we hadn't been using it really anymore anyway.
But for the record, if you have this mod installed and you grind to a halt one day, this might be worth checking into!

Yes UT slows down the site a bit but seems insignificant to me.
Search beck to one of my posts in this thread this last spring. Shows how to disable tracking bots and also visits from your IP address.
As gilby reported clean out your UT log often (once a week is what I do).
No uninstaller. Best to look at the sql used to install your SPECIFIC mod version and work from that. All UT mod versions I'm aware of created table "user_tracking" and added entries to ZC Admin > Config and > Tools menus. Can remove all that via phppmyadmin. And then remove files installed by mod version. Of course back up first if something goes wrong.

It is possible your shop URL containing a zenid was published somewhere on the web, contributed to the issue.
That can cause sessions to be hijacked.
Not that it would be related but are you writing your sql_cache to a file or the database?
You might want to search the forum on "db_cache". There was a related bug fix patch posted in July.
And note spider logging can be disabled in User Tracking (this is highly recommended).
There are flaws in latest versions of User Tracking, but as far as I understand nothing which would have contributed to your scenario. To be sure I'm no expert on these matters and just interested in how it was deduced that User Tracking was the culprit (besides just removing the mod and then all was better)?
