You do not need to do anything with files except load images in your images file. You need to do a db drop and copy. The related tables in your zencart db are categories and categories_descriptions.Quote:
I understand what you mean by this, but I'm not sure where to find the 'relevant tables'.
Are you able to point me to the correct files to copy please?
You need to use a db admin panel your host provides to alter/edit this area to mass import the data you want imported.
Its a catch 22 you can't ez pop data that has not been configured someplace. At some point we all have to do the mindless data entry to get our initial setup done. This may be the case in your situation.
Also try this thread. I have not really read it but it does cover your possible need. Looks somewhat dubious so I don't know that I'd go this route myself as nothing is as easy as it appears.

Yeah why don't you just tack on a few more. I will look at it.Quote:

"Once you have installed & configured Easy Populate, go to Tools -> "Easy Populate" in Zen Cart admin"
I installed & configured it, but there's no Easy Pop link in my tools menu in the cart admin. Any thoughts?
Thanks for the reply! I have 1.2.5.4. Maybe I should try to re-install, in case I got something wrong.
Def double check that all the files are loaded into admin area as even if you did it wrong the link would show. So likely you missed a file.Quote:

Woohoo, success! Thanks for the support--so much seems so over my head....

I'm trying to include Specials Price in download for a category. I downloaded the "Custom" from the pull down menu in the box but no checkbox available for Specials.
I read online that Price/Qty includes Specials price but it does not.
Tried downloading the Complete from the blue links to see what would happen but it just processed for a long time and then kicked me out.
Is there an easy way, or even a way, to include the Specials Price in the download, preferable for a specific category?
Thanks!
v_specials_price is one of the core included ezpop columns. Perhaps you do not have the proper start and or expiration date associated with your special?
We don't enter start and stop dates for our specials. We leave the date fields blank because we don't have set dates for "sale" of a particular product.
Is that the problem?
Just want to clarify my last post further which read:
"We don't enter start and stop dates for our specials. We leave the date fields blank because we don't have set dates for "sale" of a particular product.
Is that the problem?"
I know how to Upload specials price, just can't get it to be included in the download. Want to take a category, including specials price, from one site to another.
nfallat,
Which version of EP are you using? 1.2.5.4?
I just moved my EP file to another server and the specials copied over. I do not have a start or end date involved.
You mentioned the "Custom" pull down, but where did that come from?
By just downloading from the original site and looking at your EP file you should see the v_specials_price has a listing.
Easy Populate Advance2.76d-mod3b Zen-Cart 1.3.8 but soon upgrading to 1.3.9e.
What I mean by "custom" is the pull down menu in the box:
Direkter Download and the pull-down menu. Checking the boxes. No box for specials price.
So I go to the blue links below and try and still nothing brings over "specials" except the Froogle thing but can't do by category and then it does not inlude BOTH` original price AND specials price. Froogle thing shows original price, unless there is a special. When I say "special" I'm talking about the product-by-product $ - insert special price.
Download: Complete tab-delimited .txt file to edit.txt to edit
Download: Model/Price/Qty tab-delimited .txt file to edit.txt to edit
Download: Model/Category tab-delimited .txt file to edit.txt to edit
Download: Froogle tab-delimited .txt file.txt to edit
Download: Model/Attributes tab-delimited .txt file.txt to edit
I have never used that build and it certainly looks pretty darn old like 3 years old... plus its a pay service so ask them...
I'd go to the free downloads section and get a more recent EZ Pop that does the things you need and this specials issue would be irrelevant as none of the current builds in that area would pose any issue for your problem.
please take a look at www.sgshoppy.com
i dun know how to say it, but its appearing 2 times for some reason, anyone can help? i thought it was model problem but it does not seem like it.
I originally posted this in another area and no one came up with a solution so I am trying in this thread.
I have two stores, both using version 1.3.9d. I use EP 1.2.5.4 to populate and update prices, inventory, etc.
I download an inventory update daily from my supplier. I set up three columns in my spreadsheet, v_products_model, v_products_quantity, EOREOR, and upload those three columns to my sites.
For some reason my prices(v_products_price) are also being changed without having a column for them in the upload. Both stores doing the same thing.
The prices are increasing by 7% each time I update quantities. I think it may be related to the 7% tax rate(FL) I have set. I just recently changed the status on all items to "taxable goods".
I think this started when I changed status. I don't recall any problems prior to the change.
Why is this happening and what can I do?
I've gotten around the problem by uploading a file with just the correct prices after I update the inventory, but I should not have to do that.
thanks
No, not pay. It is downloaded from Zen Cart downloads here (Easy Populate From osc):
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...roducts_id=460
We (nlfallat and I) began using this osc version because it has the ability to download by category and includes a "sort" column to resort products, and those functions work. Only thing is the specials does not work.
Were using 1.2.5.4 until recently, but now see an update (1.2.5.5) here?
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...ort=20a&page=2
Is 1.2.5.5 the latest version of what you (this thread) recommends? I no longer see 1.2.5.4 at Zen Cart downloads (but may have it on my computer, an earlier version.)
SPH,
Looks like the one you are using is dated June 28th 2008.
Here is EP 1.2.5.4 Mod.
http://www.zen-cart.com/index.php?ma...oducts_id=1633
You can add the sort order by modifying the weight info in Easy Populate .php. There are some instruction in this forum, but I did not look for them.
I'll see if I can find them. It works as I have used it.
SPH,
Use version 1.2.5.4 and follow this from lankeeyankee.
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showthread.php?t=116061
the product naming is appearing twice, sometimes it get replace by the image, the product names are invisible, they only appear when you hover over it.
Also, how can one add sort to the list in excel? and must it be specifily between some of the commands?
shadowcast I do not see the duplicates and you may just have some kind of admin setting wrong for your needs. If positive it is an EZ Pop problem provide more detailed information.
If a general sitewide problem post a thread in general questions area
I will take a look at the file and see if I can do what you need to most recent EZ Pop version. If it takes me ten minutes or less I will shoot you a PM so you can retrieve the file.Quote:

I'll take a look Monday
so has anyone tried adding a sort column?
As the field products_sort_order is in the PRODUCTS table in the database, it is possible to incorporate this into easy populate. (I have successfully added many additional fields in the products tables to my copy of EP.)
The technique for adding fields is described here:-
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...72&postcount=1
In fact, I have zipped up my copy of easypopulate.php (just the FILE that goes into the admin folder) and my copy will put in both the products sort order AND the master categories ID.
The two new columns in your spreadsheet will be:
v_products_sort_order | v_master_categories_id
You can either unzip and use my file as-is, or use it to compare with the original (following the tutorial by lankeeyankee).
Naturally, if you use my file (in place of the ORIGINAL in the admin folder), then you will backup your original file first.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
shadowcast et al...
I have a reworked file that should be ready before end of week after testing. Shoot me your email if you need it then or
I will also update that old one in the downloads section so future folks can have it since it is obviously popular
It worked perfectly for me... I followed LankeeYankee's instructions carefully... and had no problems at all.
So the problem cannot be with the method LankeeYankee advocates.
I think you may find the problem by looking in a mirror :D
OK... that's a bit cruel... no offence meant.
Have you tried my ZIPPED file, loaded in the previous post?
Have searched without success for an answer to this one so......
I am trying to use easy populate to conduct a stocktake of our inventory. I have a multiple price add-on which I use to record the cost price on each product. When I download the complete inventory using easy populate into excell it only gives me the retail price but I want it to give me the 'Price A' price which is where we record our cost price on items. What needs to be changed in the code to make it download the 'A' price as well or instead of the retail price?
Shadowcast,
I don't know if this helps you, but I use Dreamweaver. Open the admin/easypopulate.php file and use the "Find and Replace".
Type in v_products_weight then hit the "find all".
If it shows any found, you may have missed one that needs to be changed to sort order.
That file by schoolbow really works great...
i just tried using schoolboy file and hit a problem.
First, the old easy populate will show the files in the tempEp from your admin, but it no longer shows, after uploading, all i get was a white screen.
new, i save it under csv and it can now upload, but my products are not able to upload. even thought it says that it is successful.
If you need asap pm me otherwise watch for an update of the version in the downloads area.
Okay... I am really missing something here..
I'm trying to upload some products via easy populate
No matter where I edit the file
Notepad
Exel
Openoffice Calc
Even Notepad++
upload goes fine but doens't upload anything/.....
Am I missing something?
I'm really lost here... I have this working with another store, but can't seem to get it right here...
I don't think version would cause this but just for the sake of it I'm using 1.3.9d
Thanks for any help
It'll upload my origianl file but if I modify it.
I would assume their is soemthing being changed to the file by excel or notepad or something.....
I've tried everything to get products up but it just doens't like me today....
Okay here's one...
Odd but it works now...
The only difference was that I uploaded from my local dev server to a production server at my hosting company.... weird... maybe I'm missing a required php function.... but that doens't explain by it was work with the original file.... Lost be on this one....
Oh well it works now..
Rob
Did you try the group pricing ezpop version? that one can be used for group pricing and non gorup pricing systems. I use it on heavily with zero issues.
Not sure what "advanced" options are in a pay version if I knew I could simply build them into a free one so nobody would have to pay for this stuff.
The pay version is mentioned in the first few pages of this thread. Where do I find this ezpop version of group pricing?
downloads area look at top of this screen for the link
When using Easy Populate w/ custom fields there is a bug where custom fields are "emptied" when importing using the Model/Qty/Price import (no bug w/ full import).
I have fixed the bug; but not sure what to do so that the bug fix propagates to the mainline code.
Please advise.
I'm not very well experienced on this forum but I hope this reaches JimmyV.
I sent an email direct to you you (you were working with SPH on some other EP issues regarding sort/special prices issue.
My other issues are described below. Can this be done in any version of EP that you know of?
1) Second Product Description Area
2) Here is link to site.
www.findmypromdress.com
Just want to Easy Populate links to color categories "Dresses Shown In" category section.
FIRST TEST:
The first time I tried it on an After Five dress (After Five is in column
v_categories_name_1
I then added colors
Black in
v_categories_name_2, White in v_categories_name_3
Red in v_categories_name_4
What it did is added subcategories under After Five (Subcategory Black under After Five, Sub-Subcategory White under After Five/Black, and Sub-Sub-Subcategory Red under After Five/Black/White.
Then, in the Multiple Categories Link Manager, it linked only to the last one - Red.
So, I deleted that and tried another way.
I tried it where I changed all the column headings for the colors to be:
v_categories_name_1
This time it did not create subcategories under After Five but it only, again, did the linking to Red - the last one.
I apologize if I did not give you all appropriate information but i am new at this forum.
Thanks,
Nancy
Hi Nancy
I am very close with SPH to getting a resolution on the mutual issue you guys have.
I did not get an email from you so I missed that. Perhaps work with SPH to get it to me or have it forwarded. Once it works on SPH site free of issue we can tweak it and put it on yours.
Can you link to the ez pop version you are using in the downloads section?Quote:

None of the common ones should have bugs nor should they have issue with uploading partial inventories.
I am having trouble with my pictures through easy populate. I uploaded the files to my server. I added the pictures with several different versions today (ie. just /images/pic.jpg and then www.website/images/pic.jpg), but neither actually shows the file. Is there a step by step instructions for adding pics. I only tried to add the Guntersville Reservoir Cemeteries for today and it is just showing the image title in place of the image. Any thoughts as to what I did wrong? southerngenealogybooks dot com.
mary4c You do not need the '/images/' location as EP by default looks in '/images/'.
Good idea to put your images in folders of suppliers or categories, etc as it makes life a little easier to organise
That depends on how great the resolution you need. Most can be resized somewhere between 600dpi to 800dpi. Depending on your imaging software, you can try different levels of compression (using jpg format) to see which gives the desirable image clarity and file size. The lower the compression, the higher the quality and the larger the file size.
I use a cable companies' internet service and it only takes a second or so to upload a 75K image but dial-up service is a bear.
A simple quideline is to see what your large image size in your config section is and then make your images equal or less than that. The will be reduced to that size anyway, so anything larger is just a waste of file storage space.
Keep in mind that I am really new to this program. Can you explain the config section? I checked on the Configuration>Images, but all it tells me is the height and width size.
I have already uploaded all my pictures and this one in particular was 924K.
Thanks for helping me!
mary4c Image sizes want to be as small as you can get them, but still keeping the image quality. Have a look at image_handler mod. as this mod can help with image handing.
As an example on my site a pop-up product image is 31kb, and Featured side box image is 2.8kb.
:censored:Sorry, I got dpi and pixels interchanged there.
 924K is suitable for framing, not for much for anything else.
In config/images, the max IH Large image width & height is set (mine is 500x750), so anything larger than that is resized by IH. If you resize your images within those constraints (before uploading), then IH does not need to do anything to them (except apply any compression factors (quality setting) that you also set there.
As I said, anything larger than the max displayed (ie 500x750) is not needed and is therefore a waste of space and upload time.
The dpi comes into play only if you scan your own images (it is a compression ratio) and effects the file size (ie 75k) and the quality of the image.
If you need help resizing your images, just PM me and I will try to help, as this is not the place for a tutorial.
I created a basic tutorial that may help someone with this. It is very basic and does not go into imaging software usage.
http://www.stampdays.com/catalog/ind...id=33chapter=0
This thread is about EZ Populate not photos.
Pick up photosizer or other shareware to automate the sizing process. Unless you have one image the prior stated methods are not well thought out as they will take forever.
Back on topic please
I tried to upload a batch throught the /temp/ area of EP. I uploaded the file via FTP. Then went to Admin and tried to upload the file name into the database. I used it as below:
file_name.txt (the result was an Error)
file_name (the result said upload complete)
But the products are not showing up on the store front. The products are also not showing up when i go into catalog/categories/products.
Any thoughts?
If you installed EZ Pop correctly then you should have an easypop tab on your menu bar in admin. you go down to that tab and export a file of your current inventory.Quote:
but the products are not showing up on the store front.
THEN you can add to your hearts delight using identical format for any additions you make.
You can then import it using the import link also on same page. Once complete you will get a list of successful imported datafields.
If you uploaded a file and then imported with no joy and it screwed up your inventory then it is highly likely your import was not formatted correctly and you messed the whole thing up. Hopefully you have a backup or you can also manually repair the data by doing another download and fixing the fields accordingly.
The only 2 Easy Pop tabs I have are under admin/tools and admin/config. Didn't think there were any others. All my sites have it that way.
I have got the dataset on the correct format. I used the same spreadsheet (and all data unchanged) to my other Zen Cart Website. The difference is I did my other one by saving my spreadsheet 300 items at a time and uploaded it that way. That takes forever. I know that you can do it by uploading it into the temp/ file via FTP which I did but I don't know why it's not working. I have the pictures in the correct file and everything but still I don't know why it's not working.
My thoughts are now that i have it uploaded to the temp file and then went to admin/tools/EasyPop and uploaded it that there is another step after that... but I'm not sure having never done this before.
For all of you out there having trouble getting your products into froogle, I have created another option for you. It takes a little time, but I got it to work. Here is more information. http://www.whowont.com/froogle
Still can't get it to work.... Anyone... any help... SchoolBoy??? Doc?? Cobra???
Hello - this is a general question about EP - wasn't sure of the proper place to ask, and apologies if this has been asked and answered, but I couldn't find anything like it and the thread is 3000+ posts long!
I've gathered that Easy Populate can be used to import/export inventory info, but can it be set up to automatically import/export changes in inventory (i.e. Sales)? Here's my scenario:
I'm trying to set up an eCommerce book store for a client. He uses an online service called Art of Books which maintains his inventory and automatically updates the info across a large number of venues (Amazon, Biblio, eBay, Half.com, etc) so that when a book sells in one place, the inventory is updated everywhere. It also allows for custom venues, and will send regular interval tab-delimited files (or a number of other formats) to whatever FTP you specify about every 30 minutes to maintain proper inventory.
Can EP be used to set ZenCart up like the other venues mentioned where inventory is automatically changed without any manual interaction?
Or, if not with EP, can ZC even be easily set up to do this (without significant coding)?
Keep in mind I'm a designer, not a programmer/coder in any way. I have set up a few ZenCart sites, but my expertise is limited, and I don't want to spend hours (weeks!) working on this if it's not even possible. Thanks in advance for any help...
Is ther also a way with Zen Cart to have the MSRP price come up so that they can see how much they are saving over retail?
Where is everyone these days..> This is the longest I have ever seen this forum go without a Help reply!
Hi. I uploaded by FTP my test cart developed on my WAMP server for Zen Cart version 1.3.9f. Easy Populate 1.2.5.4 was in the cart, and some test products were in the cart. However, the products disappeared, and when I first tried to use Easy Populate to import products, it prompted me to install. I pressed the install link it offered and a message stated it installed successfully.
I tried to import products but was unsuccessful. However, after a period of time, the product categories showed up in my Zen Cart online, but with no products. At time of the failed install, Easy Populate had stated:
First, after checking for hours for the location of the uploads directory and what it actually meant to check that directory, I found that under Admin>Configuration>Easy Populate, there is a menu that names the Uploads Directory as "temp"; the admin screen gave the option to edit the name of the uploads directory.Quote:
New Product Failed. SQL error. Check Easy Populate error log in uploads directory.
I went to my online temp directory by going by FTP to my www/temp directory, and downloading the file called "ep_debug_log.txt" to my computer and opening the file in my wordprocessing program.
Now, I have the following error message repeated for days and days of uploads:
[QUOTE]
MySQL error 1054: Unknown column 'p.products_UPS' in 'field list'
When executing:

</QUOTE>
There is one of these messages for each of the 6 products in my test upload, with the second to last line changing for the product number for each product.
The heading on my spreadsheet correctly states v_products_UPC, not UPS.
1. Where could this "UPS" be coming from?
2. In trying to make Easy Populate work, I installed the .sql patch for Easy Populate, and it created a duplicate "Easy Populate" in my Admin>Configuration>list, although it then recognized it would be a duplicate entry and stopped itself from installing.
How may I remove the empty Easy Populate listing in Configuration? I find no extra line in the configuration table in PHPMyAdmin to delete.
3. Thank you to Dr. Byte who pointed out to someone in this forum the $ in the price column, which keeps reappearing in my tables. Also, thanks to Dr. Byte for pointing out that the numerals 0, 1, and 9 are used for inactive, active, and delete status. I find my product source uses the word Active, and am changing that as a precaution for making Easy Populate work, although it worked in my test server.
Notageek
notageek,
Try this:
Go back and delete all the files you installed for EP and reinstall this version 1.2.5.4 from here.
http://www.zen-cart.com/archived_con...s/admin-tools/
Make sure it's 1.2.5.4 you use. It's more stable.
Thanks, elkbow. I'll give that a try. I am using 1.2.5.4, and it does work fine on my WAMP test server.
I just have no clue how it could suddenly seem to mistake UPC for UPS in the error message:
That seems such a wild deviation that it seems correct to uninstall and reinstall. I will let you know what happens.Quote:

Hi. I tried to reinstall easy populate 1.2.5.4 but have been unsuccessful.
I initially removed each easy populate file from my site. I then went into PHPMyAdmin and removed the easy populate file from the configuration_group and configuration tables.
I reinstalled by FTP. I checked Configuration, and it still showed a duplicate entry for easypopulate, one of which gave the admin screen and the other of which had no admin screen.
I checked my PHPMyAdmin tables and there was no easypopulate file in either the configuration_group or configuration table, so I went ahead and installed the sql patch, via the upload method. That apparently worked, but gave me the following error:
Consequently, there are no easypopulate tables in my SQL database, but I have the duplicate "easypopulate" listing in my configuration menu, and can go to the uploads directory.Quote:

If you were entering information, press the BACK button in your browser and re-check the information you had entered to be sure you left no blank fields.
Is there a way to remove the second appearance of easypopulate in my configuration listing? Of course, easy populate is correctly listed separately under tools, but this is just an empty title under the top configuration list in admin. Maybe this is what is causing the "duplicate entry."
Thanks for any comments.
Notageek
notageek,
I need to ask you where you are getting that SQL statement?
When EP is uploaded to your server, you will get a note at the top of the page under your administration/tools/Easy Populate.
It will ask you to install EP.
As per install instructions NOTE #5:
5) Go to Admin -> Tools -> Easy Populate. If prompted to install Easy Populate, click on the
link provided. Otherwise, type in your browser address bar ?langer=install after /easypopulate.php
(eg. YOUR_ADMIN/easypopulate.php?langer=install). If you wish to remove and re-install the default
config settings, type ?langer=remove after /easypopulate.php
(eg. YOUR_ADMIN/easypopulate.php?langer=remove) and begin this step again.
There should not be any reason to install a SQL. Also I only have Easy Populate in the database at "configuration_group".
There is no EP in the configuration table on my systems.
Let me know
Elkbow & Notageek,
From what I can tell that is not correct. You may need to install the SQL patch (and I belive it says to copy and paste the text instead of doing a search and upload). It is easier for the system.
'** If for some reason the config install fails, you can upload the SQL file provided using Admin -> Tools -> Install SQL Patches' (This is under the Important section on the instructions, the last point)
As for where EP is located. EP should apear in 2 sections if correctly installed, admin/configure and admin/tools. Well I should put it that on all of my stores this is where it shows up.
Admin/configure is where you will be able to change any settings you need.
Admin/tools is where you go to do your uploading and changes when using a txt file.
Hope that helps.
Elkbow,
Where did the SQL statement occur?
The 1062 error message occurred after I uploaded the install.sql this second time on its own blank screen.
Previously when I was receiving the failed upload message I uploaded the install.sql. That is when I first received the 1062 error and also the second title "easy populate" appeared under admin/configuration, but did not have a menu page, whereas the first one had the admin menu that states you can edit and change the name of the uploads directory, etc.
Was there an install message?
I looked for an install message, but found none or must have missed it. I completely missed trying the browser approach to install. I also missed trying to "remove the default configuration settings" by typing the remove message into the browser. I guess I should have tried that as well.
What was in my PHPMyAdmin tables?
In my WAMP setup, my configuration_group table has a group number for Easy Populate of 31; when I enter that value as the group number in a search on the configuration table, it lists the following entries:
configuration_key configuration_value
EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_TEMP_DIR temp/
EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_FILE_DATE_FORMAT m-d-y
EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_DEFAULT_RAW_TIME 09:00:00
EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_SPLIT_MAX 300
EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_MAX_CATEGORY_LEVELS 7
EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_PRICE_INC_TAX false
EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_ZERO_QTY_INACTIVE false
EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_SMART_TAGS true
EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_ADV_SMART_TAGS false
EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_DEBUG_LOGGING true
It was my understanding that putting these in the configuration table is what makes a menu available in the admin>configuration menu. That's what was accomplished with my define_main_page_lower module being placed there.
It looks like I should remove everything and try to reinstall again. I must have forgotten to check to see if the removal of everything removed the double entry in the config>admin menu, and then put it back when I performed the install.sql upload.
Thanks for your comments and for looking at this.

Elkbow,
You will be pleased to hear that my Easy Populate successfully imported my 6 test products after the last fix.
However, I now have 3 easy populate titles listed under admin>configuration. I would dearly love to eliminate the two extra appearances, but am afraid to try the langer remove command in the browser.
I suppose I could just ignore them. Apparently the second one didn't disappear when I uninstalled, and the third one appeared the second time I ran the install.sql. I hope to understand this some day.
No tables have appeared in my PHPMyAdmin for Easy Populate. Somehow, I miss those tables. Were they completely non-functional?
Notageek
Notageek you have a typo in the original file causing the problem the above statement should read on or other not comboQuote:
p.products_UPS as v_products_UPC,
p.products_UPC as v_products_UPC
or
p.products_UPS as v_products_UPS
That is why you are getting conflicts those tables don't go together

The above statement I find to have never used:::
first this is 1.2.5.4 from Langer. The most simple form of Easy Populate. This is not 1.2.4.6, or 7, or what ever.
The instructions for 1.2.5.4 clearly state this. Plus in 9 carts I have running I have never needed to upload a SQL statement for Easy Populate. The install function appears at the top of the page when tools/Easy Populate is opened.
Here are the instructions:
1) Change the name of the "admin" directory in this package to suit your zencart installation
2) The temp folder is configured to reside in your store directory. If you store is not in the
site root (eg. /mystore/) then the temp directory must also go in this directory.
3) If you want to re-name the uploads (temp) folder, ensure that you configure Easy Populate to
reflect this change after installation
4) Upload all files in their respective directories.
5) Go to Admin -> Tools -> Easy Populate. If prompted to install Easy Populate, click on the
link provided. Otherwise, type in your browser address bar ?langer=install after /easypopulate.php
(eg. YOUR_ADMIN/easypopulate.php?langer=install). If you wish to remove and re-install the default
config settings, type ?langer=remove after /easypopulate.php
(eg. YOUR_ADMIN/easypopulate.php?langer=remove) and begin this step again.
6) Go to Admin -> Configuration -> Easy Populate, and configure the upload directory if you have
changed it from default. Also, ensure that the correct date format is set for your upload files.
7) If this mod gives you more time with your family or friends, and/or less customer headaches, please
consider a donation to paypal AT portability DOT com DOT au to ensure this module is continually supported and improved
Not sure what is incorrect but in answer to the two questions I see posted.
One is the typo I mentioned prior. UPS v UPC human error by someone.
The other
1062 Duplicate entry 'EASYPOPULATE_CONFIG_TEMP_DIR' for key 2
Means you have already inserted the selected sql files data during a prior operation and therefore the "error" should be ignored.
The first error will cause db problems though so the file needs to be edited to repair the defective code.
As to .4 being the one to use... several EZ Pops in downloads area are completely 100% stable for years. .4 however has the least amount of functionality which is why it is not on the downloads areas anymore.
While all are basically the same U may find that more recent versions provide a better admin interface and inventory management ability.
Really this thread should be restarted with a more recent versions name but I digress. Let us know if you are still having issue with your ez pop install

Hi. Going back to post 3078 and the fact that I am seeing triplicate entries of Easy Populate under the first section of Admin>Configuration, I have checked PHPMyAdmin and located the 3 entries in the zc_configuration_group table.
I did not see these earlier because I also have a complete set of tables without the zc_prefix--2 complete databases!!! I had only checked one of them when I thought the entries were missing. Well, that's another problem. But at least this explains the triplicate entries and I can now delete 2 of those entries.
The .sql patch created a new ID for Easy Populate on each of my 2 attempts to install the .sql patch.
The .sql install then stopped at seeing the duplicate entries so I only have one set of the 10 files in my configuration table, thankfully. I'm really puzzled that elkbow does not see these files if he is able to choose options from the Easy Populate tables from his Admin>Configuration>Easy Populate, under the first section (not the Tools section which is a separate entry).
Thanks for all the comments.

Wondering if someone can help me. When I upload the attributes Easy Populate resets to the defaults all my attributes. For example:
I was updating some product pricing,
My original attribute showed:
AFT-23 (123.95)
The updated one showed
AFT-23 (+123.95)
It also changed my default sort order that I chose in the attributes controller.
I have the price of the original product set to $0 so that when they pick a model the actual price shows up in the drop down. My customers don't like to do math so I don't want them too. I don't like the "+" either, I think it makes it look like you need to add add the prices together. Does anyone know how I can change this so it doesn't change my settings. Using zen v1.3.9e
Thats a good call I should delete that form the build as there is no logical reason for the tab to be located in two places anyway.Quote:

Which version of EP are you using and which "column" of data does this text go into? Are you sure your excel or other spreadsheet is treating the field as simple text and not $ as $ would be badQuote:

This series of errors happens on a new install of EZ Pop? Perhaps you can copy and paste the code from lines 1200 to 1210 of your admin ezpop file. or review those lines yourself to see issue or better yet do a completely new install of same EZ Pop to see if you missed a file or something along the way.Quote:

:hug:Hi, I am new for zen Cart and EP as well, right now I just start to set up a shopping cart with zen Cart, I use new version of zen Cart, with Easy Populate 1.3.9GP. I can see EP under my tool, and can download CVS, and but I can not upload it, what I get is this ERROR: file doesn't exist .Need to know what I was doing is wrong, thanks lot.

That said looking closer looks like you don't even have the tempEP file installed based on the error. Reread the install instructions and make sure you installed all the files necessary
Sorry I did not mean to post twice, I thought it is differet, I will go to look at although I do not know what I am looking for. :frusty:
thanks so much for reply
So where I should put temEP folder?
Finally I change EP version back to 1.2.5.4 for my Zen Cart 1.3.9, it works. Thanks lot
If using 1.3.9 GP meta Then it does not use the temp directory to store files. It uses tempEP so you add tempEP per instruction into root and it will then have a place to put the EP files as they are created. Without that you will get errors as the thing looks for a place to temporarily accumulate the files on up and download.
version 1.3.9 EP, zen cart 1.3.9, can download, howver when I upload same file, I got this error:
PRODUCT FAILED! - Model: MG200MMS - SQL error. Check Easy Populate error log in uploads directory
So where I can find this error, and how can I change that. thanks lot.
I'm gonna jump in with a quick question.
Which version do I use to work with 1.3.9 and where can I find it?
Thanks
Few things to check to diagnose.Quote:
version 1.3.9 EP, zen cart 1.3.9, can download, howver when I upload same file, I got this error:
1) are you running group pricing module and/or did you install related script to add necessary tables
2) which exact version of EZ Pop 1.3.9 are you running?
3) are you downloading a formatted file first and then adding new products including a incremental model number?
4) are you positive when adding new products you are not using any unique characters such that it might cause a problem?
Let us know about these things as one is likely the cause just not sure which. EZ 1.3.9 I have used for a year now without a problem and I use it a lot...
Hi,
I've searched for a solution to this...but found nothing...so apologies if it's in there and I missed it.
I have a file to import via easy populate (containing several thousand products). It contains a mixture of USD and EUR products. As the default currency for the store is USD, must I convert the EUR to USD before I import? Or is there a way to specify the currency type for each product I'm importing?
Thanks,
Richie.
Since the table is configured during install you can't "mix" the values in a common table as there is no identifier to determine what value to assess. Have you looked at this thread?Quote:

How do I set the sort order in my csv file? It looks as though I cant.
Hi folks,
I'm using v1.3.9a with EP 1.2.5.7.csv.
My attributes spreadsheet doesn't download since adding more attributes in the admin controller. Is it too large and not supported? I'm using excel 07 which supports 16,000 columns.
It would download with about 300 attributes on the sheet, now there are about 500 attributes and I can't download it or send it to the temp dir. When I click either of those it just loads a blank webpage with no error.
All the other sheets are still accessible, just the model/attrib sheet no longer loads up.
What do I need to do?
Having a problem ATM with my upload directory.
I have my Upload folder created in this directory on my FTP - /public_html/admin/Uploads
Permissions are set to 777 currently just to try to prevent all errors. I have everything configured, etc and just down to this error:
Configuration Error
Before you can use Easy Populate you must set your uploads directory location in the store admin configuration area.
Does my path look correct? Any idea what is causing this problem?
Thank you
EPA wont create any conflicts with Image Handler, correct?
Ended up getting this figured out.
Figure I'll just write a little solution to the upload error I was having as I'm sure it'll save anyone who's having this a big headache.
To find the correct path to use for the uploads, go into your FTP and go to:
Admin----> Includes ----> Configure.PHP
Scroll down to:
define('DIR_FS_CATALOG' and the path given is the one you'll use.
My settings in the easypopulate's configuration file are this:
$uploads_security = true;
and due to this being true, you must have your "Uploads" folder created before the Public_Html folder, so instead of:
/Public_Html/Uploads, you'll create it as /Uploads and the overall result is it'll end up being:
'DIR_FS_CATALOG' Path/Uploads
