I too have a problem with almost all my usertrack logs starts off with a "9".
My time seems to be correct, server too. Mine is at the moment: Wed, 15 Aug 2007 00:22:54 +0200GMT.

I will paste an example of how it looks ( my problem) makes it hard to read the actual time user spend and what he has done.

I too have this problem and am trying to find out what is causing it. I have an "identical" test system operating on my local machine, but this system does not produce the same result.

I should have added that a single click is recorded as two clicks: the first is a record of the page visited and the second is page-not-found.

This is obviously a very buggy mod with no real support. Use it for what its worth or use an external tracking service. Thats about the long and short of User_tracking.

I'm not observing your issues on various installs of ZC 1.37.

Look in your web server error log for clues.

I keep trying to make this work fully for me. As it stands, It does not process any IP information into it. Is there any known issues with a windows server?

if files beeing merged, merged the files and not missed something out?

user tracking config, should come up in under admin config, and under tools.

Dedj, all the files were there. The problem was the SQL patch included in the mod was not the right one, or wasn't complete.

I copy/pasted a couple SQL's posted on this thread and seems to work now.

Has anyone noticed if this module truly tracks everyone that enters your site? I have a huge discrepance between this module and google analytics. Google says that people are coming to my site from a keyword and user tracking has no track of them.

You can set User Tracking to not record spiders (this is recommended). Unsure but that may contribute to the discrepancy. To be sure check your server access logs.

Also keep in mind User Tracking only records visits to the shop (and/or admin). Your Google Analytics configuration may possibly be configured to record your entire website.

Note User Tracking can be set to not record admin logins if you wish. Depends on the code placed in your footer file.

If you're not sure what I am referring to here, search this thread for a not too distant post by me.

Note no developer is further developing or bugfixing this mod. But even in it's current form it continues to be a very useful tool.

I have that problem as well. I've contacted Google about it but they don't have a clue. In my store Google Analytics has a much, much lower number of visitor's. Google isn't tracking any visits from MSN Live, and I don't know what else isn't showing up.

Hi, Thanks for this great mod! I just have a problem.. all visitors have this IP: 172.16.10.1. I'm not sure if this is a mod issue. It could very well be a server configuration or something else. How can I fix it so I'll be able to see the correct IPs?

Any advice is appreciated!

PS: I did a google search for "zen cart 172.16.10.1" and many zen shops came up saying my IP is: 172.16.10.1. looks like many zen carts have the same issue.

I had user tracking working on my site with the exception that if I tried to exclude my IP then no records would show up at all.

A few days ago, however, without changing any UT settings it stopped tracking records. UT still shows, but always says that there are no records for this 24 hour period.

Any ideas where to begin troubleshooting this?

Hi all,

I've installed User Tracking and it give fantastic info for someone just starting out with e-commerce. I do have one minor issue though. When I click on "View Session" my admin session is terminated and I have to log back in again, go into Tools/User Tracking and find where I was.

As I said, not a showstopper, but an irritant.

Does anyone know what might be causing this, or how to prevent it?

Hello all, have a problem here. We're running ZC 1.3.8 on our stores. A little while ago, the user tracking on the CreekTreeUSA shop quit working, it shows only a clean white page. The other shops appear to work fine, and there's no other symptoms on CreekTree, just no user tracking.

I looked at the database with phpMyAdmin, and the CreekTree user_tracking table has message that there's "No Index Defined". That table for the other shops have indexes time_entry, session_id, and time_entry2 defined.

For the time being, I've set "User tracking visitors" to false in the configuration. Does anyone have idea what's happened, and what needs to be done? Would appreciate any advice.

To bring you up to date on this, yesterday I started thinking about simply adding those 3 indexes to the CreekTree database to see what happens, so I enabled user tracking again ... and found that it was working again! The database still shows no index for the table but I can't find any discrepancy in how it operates.

A few weeks ago my host upgraded to apache 2.x Php 5.x.x and Mysql 5.x.x. After this upgrade the User Tracker on both of my stores stopped functioning - The mod was still in place but it regestered zero activity. I was told to re-load the SQL and have done so but still nothing. I even re-loaded the add-on completely but no changes :huh:

I'm running 1.3.6 on both stores. Any ideas?

I had user tracking running for the past year on 1.3.6 & 1.3.7. Now I upgraded to 1.3.8 and it quit working. I uninstalled it, downloaded the latest version and re-installed it, still no joy. The interface shows up fine, it just doesn't track any visitors.

For all those people who have problems with the time offsets in total time and and idle time, the problem is the code that generates the html there is poorly written.

It is towards the end of admin/user_tracking.php, search for "28800".

The person who wrote this code used 28800 seconds (8 hours) offset as that presumably suited their timezone. With a bit of experimenting you can figure out what value works for you (provided you site runs on servers in the same timezone only).

The real solution is to change this code to be timezone neutral (work in every timezone).

Something like:

date('H:i:s', mktime(...)) would work (instead of the current date() call) only that in the database we have seconds only, this needs to be converted to hours, minutes, seconds as mktime() takes three parameters (hours, minutes, seconds).

For figuring out the time that suits your timezone just remove 28800 and check what is displayed then. Keep in mind 28800 seconds is 8 hours, figuring out the right time instead (in seconds) should be easy.

My server is hosted in New York, converting 0 with date gave me 19:00:00 and adding 8 hours gave me a 3 hours offset. So I added 5 hours only and it worked fine.

I don't remember having this problem before, I upgraded the mod to the latest version before Christmas at the same time when my provider moved to PHP 5.x (from 4.x) so I am not sure which one causes the problem.

I don't have a general solution, all I know date('H:i:s', mktime(0, 0, 0)) gives me 00:00:00. A general solution needs more work.

There are a other timezone issues as well, I always would have liked an option to set the user timezone as well so that the Start and End times can be in the timezone of the person who runs the mod in the Admin interface.

I see the Google bot being at 400+ hits, yesterday I had the same with the Yahoo crawler.

I changed the tpl_footer.php code to:

(note the spider_flag addition, it used to be like this with previous versions, seems to be removed from 1.3.6.2).

I recently had to install this mod for someone so I had a look at this bug. It is caused because the code is using the date() function to format something that is not a timestamp. To fix the code fully edit admin/user_tracking.php and then change the line (at about line 324) that says...

But you should know that the $spider_flag determined only if SESSION_FORCE_COOKIE_USE = 'False' and SESSION_BLOCK_SPIDERS == 'True'. Otherwise, you should setup himself this variable. The code for this you can get from init_sessions.php.

I cannot get my head quite round it though. My init_sessions.php file has not been changed so:

Should I change:

- Installed the SQL through ZC Admin.
-Edited the tpl_footer but can't find /admin/includes/footer.php file so I just leave that step.

I can go into User Tracking Config but after a while can't go no more. Its just blank.

I also can't see User Tracking in Admin->Tool inside ZC Admin.

I have installed this mod. I also have super tracker installed. Both use the geoip.dat and geoip.inc files

User Tracker requires them in admin/includes and super tracker in just in /includes

Anyone know how to change the below code so i can get user traker to get the files from /includes rather than admin/incldes ?

I dont understand fully how DIR_WS_INCLUDES etc works

I should re-phrase... I have the admin config user tracking config box, but when i click on it, i just get a page with no options showing...
I think it may be a table issue.

I am getting a problem with always expanded records like "view session" was clicked. Also cant delete some. Some have no session ID. I have 2 user tracking configures, 1 in admin> Tools and 1 in admin> configuration. Both seem to be functional.

Im using the latest version 1.3.7 with cart 1.3.8a. I have this installed in another shop with no problems. It wasn't that way at first. I had to change something in the sql for it to work. I can't remember what that was now.

I just noticed that this mod is starting every users "idle time" at 2 hrs.

I tested this by clicking around in the store. Check UT in the admin and it says Idle Time: 02:00:32. The :32 seconds part is right.

Ill give you the user_tracking.sql and the file set with the code that works in the footers.

I had forgotten what I did when I went from 1.3.7 to 1.3.8a to make user tracking work and I didn't bother to look at it now. I went to a working 1.3.8a store downloaded my working user tracking files. Then I went to my db and downloaded just the table structure of the user tracking table with the add if not exists.

I put all of this together in a package. Used it the other 1.3.8a stores and they work fine now too!:clap:

I got exactly the same thing with the same zencart version as you.
I gave up and tried supertracker. This worked first time. Maybe this is easier for you.

I installed the mod 3 times and every time it's the same issue. When I try to configure tracking I have 3 headings and that's it. I can't configure anything. I dumped the table, re-installed the files, the sql file both ways and so far no soap. Got any ideas?

This worked great for the timestamp issue thanks Christian, no how do I set the time zone to be correct for my timezone?

It looks to be off by 3hrs for me as I am in PST timezone, where can I make the change in the code for this? :lamo:

I have User Tracking installed on Zen Cart v1.3.8a. I had one of my co-workers visit my site while I checked to see if User Tracking would log the guest visit. When I went to Tools - User Tracking, it showed a log for me the administrator logged into the admin panel but it did not show the guest user browsing my site. Any ideas what may be wrong?

Thanks for the mod.

I isntalled it and it's working fine on one site: www.rabbitinmyhat.com.

But, I just installed it on another, www.sewingpattern4less.com, and there are the Title, Value and Action column labels, but nothing else.

I tried installing it a second time, and still no success.

I can't figure why it works for one site and not the other. They are both running ZC 1.3.7. I've had no trouble loading other mods onto both sites.

Please help. Tell me what I am missing?

I am having issues deleting sessions from googlebot and spiders. It is destroying the page with hundreds of lines of tracking.

Is there a way to fix this problem?

Go to Admin/configuration/user tracking. Add the IP's that you don't want usertracking to log or display.

Not sure if that will actually do the trick, but it is worth a shot.

I haven't found anyone that has mentioned this before, but I find it a little frustrating that I have to scroll all the way to the end of the page to see how many visitors I had. I do use an analytical program, but for a quick view, I use that feature of usertracker.

I have tried to move that particular section of the code (located in admin/usertracking.php), but I basically broke usertracking. I am not versed in PHP, so I was definately winging it.

Anyone know how to move that particular section to the top of the page? I would like it where it says "There have been x page views in this 24 hour period.".

Does anyone have a working version of this mod for ZC 1.3.8a? Thanks!

I installed user tracking mod and all is well, BUT now when I try to login or log out as a customer I get a 404 error. Am I missing something somewhere?

Well, I have used UT for quite some time under 1.2.7 and LOVED IT! I recently created some new sites in 1.3.8a and after reading all these posts am a bit hesitant to just do a contrib install. Are there any of our outstanding contrib developers who are working on this to make the mods for the new version 1.3.8a?
Don't take this as a complaint, I still think this is the BEST cart software and the BEST SUPPORT TEAM HANDS DOWN!!!

I did a search and can't find an answer ANYWHERE. My problem is if anyone has something in their shopping cart (guest or logged in member) user tracking shows that all entries have those items in their cart.

If someone can show me how to do a screen shot I will post a pic so you can understand what I mean.

It looks like I'm not the only person with this problem, but I couldn't find an answer in the forum...

I installed User Tracker onto Zen Cart 1.3.8. It tracks admin usage perfectly, but does not track normal usage. I added the code to the bottom of MY_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_footer.php like this:

It seems like it should work. I think it's crashing on the call to zen_update_user_tracking() because if I echo something after it, it doesn't show up. If I echo before it, it shows up.

I know the function is OK, though, since it tracks admin usage correctly.

Using this won't help to display/receive all spiders/bots in user tracking.
I see about 12000 page views in this 24 hour period. Most of it are sessions of spiders/bots.
Is there a spider/bots text file which tells who is a bot of spider, maybe that this text-file need to be updated?

My host has recently upgraded PHP from 4.4.8 to 5.2.5 as the default.

Normally I receive upwards of 20,000 entries per day.

With PHP 4.4.8 I have no problems at all in displaying this quantity

With PHP 5.2.5 I can display fine up to 1,500 to 2,000 entries
Any more than this and I receive a "blank page"

I am using zen-cart 1.3.8a
MySQL 5.0.67-community-log
Apache/2.2.9

At this time I can switch between PHP versions but my host will soon remove 4.4.8

Any ideas what might be causing this problem?

My host just updated to PHP 5.2.8 and the problem is still happening.

Its almost as if PHP5 has a different memory size or time out limit to PHP4

After about 15 seconds of "thinking" time with more than 2000 entries it comes back with a blank page

It works fine (as it does with PHP4 all the time) for more than 2000 entries.

It has something to do with the size of the page returned to display. Over a certain size it appears to give up and return a blank page.

Any suggestions???

Sounds like you need to change some settings in your php.ini file. Change the max memory to 64MB, change the script execution time to something like 120 seconds or whatever will work for you. We use this mod with php 5.2.8 without any of these problems.

This problem seems to occur with any generated page size greater than 1meg.
It also occured with the Sales Report mod for large page sizes

The default memory size for php 4.4.8 was 8meg
The default memory size for the php 5.2.8 was also 8meg
Further reading at the php site say that the default for php 5.2.8 should be 32meg

As suggested above I used a custom php.ini file and changed the memory size to 32meg

No more problems :clap:
It seems that my host did not increase the memory size for php5 as they should have

I just upgraded to 1.3.8a from 1.3.7 and I'd love to get the user tracking mod back working (I've looked into "Supertracker" but it looks to have some bugs too).

I PM'd bumba000 to request his modified files but have received no reply.

I had forgotten what I did when I went from 1.3.7 to 1.3.8a to make user tracking work and I didn't bother to look at it now. I went to a working 1.3.8a store downloaded my working user tracking files. Then I went to my db and downloaded just the table structure of the user tracking table with the add if not exists.

I put all of this together in a package. Used it the other 1.3.8a stores and they work fine now too!:clap:

I have it installed and working on 1.3.8 is it supposed to not work? I must be missing something.

It will work in 1.3.8, but not like it did in 1.3.7, not even close.

For me I can't stop it from displaying spiders like Google, or Yahoo. Which means that once Google or Yahoo hits my site they will use up all allotted space and nothing else will be recorded.

It also records the pages I look at. I've set it to not record my IP, but it does anyway

I sell phyiscal products in the store, and Info products under Marketing Software Group.

I use Zoom Stats, http://www.marketingsoftwaregroup.co...ats/index.html

to record ALL pages, but User Tracker is best for store stats.

Did you upgrade from 1.37, or is your 1.38 a fresh install?
Do you have any other MODs installed?

Hi Gary,,its a new install,,,so thats why I dont know what I m missing! Yes I have another mod installed. I installed image handler 2, which I think is working well. The Zen Cart software is the best.

Yes...User Tracking for 1.3.7 was the best such software I've used.

The ability to follow the path of users through the store was very useful. I'm not sure that SuperTracker or any other software allows you to do the same thing.

I would certainly be willing to make a "donation" to someone with the programming ability (which I lack!) to get this working for 1.3.8.

I could see how that would work now. Since my store is new I have only a few records to look at...now that google and yahoo are starting to spider they are taking up space that customers normally would. Now I understand. I would donate to.

I'm running the latest zen cart with the updated security patch and I recently started having a problem with user tracking resulting in a blank page. I loaded the debug php file and the results show: PHP Fatal error: Cannot redeclare geoip_country_code_by_name() in /<site path/<admin>/includes/geoip.inc on line 159. I tried the updated PHP file posted by a_berezin, but this did not resolve my issue. I cannot correlate any changes that I've made to this problem. I re-transferred the user tracking files to my site and overwrote the files already present, but this did not help..... Any idea's what's going on?

Found it! It appears that two functions in the geoip.inc file are now included with PHP, so they were being declared twice. I had to comment out these two functions: geoip_country_code_by_name geoip_country_name_by_name

Have a site using v 1.38......installed user tracking mod and it does not work. Do not get all the configs to set up and it only tracks the admin logins not any users.

Anyone have the 1.38 version ?

I've just installed this mod on 1.38a with various other mods already installed.

No problems and all is running smoothly.

I have it installed on several 1.3.8a without any problems. It is helpful if you can elaborate on what you did to install, other mods you have, the version of user tracking you are using. Usually it is an installation/configuration error. And sometimes it can take more than 1 day to get a response!:P It sounds like you either forgot to add <?php if (ZEN_CONFIG_USER_TRACKING == 'true') { zen_update_user_tracking(); } ?> to the bottom of includes/template/YOUR_TEMPLATE/common/tpl_footer.php or you added it to the wrong file ie includes/templates/template_default/common/tpl_footer.php or something like that.

Is this your IP address? 217.218.225.2? It looks like something is broken, has it been working fine and suddenly started this behavior? Are they able to get around your site or are they leaving after the one page visit?

I think it would a great a addition to Zen Cart.

Why a new sidebox?? This is an admin side mod that already shows what pages a visitor looked at. If you want a detailed analysis of visits, take a look at Google Analytics. Or you can even see from the admin panel, under Reports, which items are viewed most or least and how many of each have been purchased.

I know about the admin side mod. The sidebox or centerbox I am talking about is used to automatically upsell products for the customers. Overstock have been utilizing this for years. Ebay has a similar version that they just start using, by recommending products to the user based on what items they viewed. It is hard to manually upsell products when you have thousands of products.

By automating this process you can save a lot of time. In my case I sell car parts so if someone is looking for a part for their car based on their car make and model, if you display other products on that is related to their car they might be interested in buying it.

This was just a suggestion for the general Zen Cart user. We will be developing a smart version of this mod for my website in the next few month that will use cookies to track customers behaviour and upsell products that is 100% related to their cars based on database, cache and cookies. It would be very similar to eBay system.
