Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi,
Is it possible to use the same image over different products without changing the file name? e.g I have a table linen in several sizes and use only one picture depicting the color choice.
I tried using the same picture but it keeps warning me to change the base name.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I have three newer zen cart stores. All use 1.38a. Of the three, only one has IH installed, and this store is on a different server than the others.
One store, kachinaoutpost was designed and installed by a professional. The other two I did myself, however I already had the images up, so was afraid to install IH since the images were already uploaded.
When I went to advertise these in Adwords, I found that the pages loaded slowly, so I followed the directions of the Images Preparation and uploaded three sizes on the other two sites. Now all of those load fine. However, the kachinaoutpost site continues to load slowly. I thought the slow load may be because I uploaded the large size to IH, so I optimized all the images, but it still loads slow.
I'm trying to determine if the cause is the server this site is on, or the size of the large photos uploaded to IH, or what?
Since there has been no improvement on the kachinaoutpost site, I'm hoping someone can help to point me in the right direction.
1) I've never cleared the image cache in IH. Is it true I have to remove IH from the database before I clear the image cache in admin?
2) Could the filesize of the large image uploaded to IH be the cause of the slow download of the page?
3) Is there a way to determine if the server is to blame?
In spite of the fact that IH prints out in red "Product is Disabled", the popup works in Google Chrome, Opera, Safari, and Foxfire, but, of course, not in IE8.
I realize I can't use both IH and Zen Cart images, but need to determine which would be best to speed file download for advertising.
Any help would sincerely be appreciated. The other two sites, if you need them are legendshavanese and kachinadirect
So much to learn; so little time!
Thanks bunches,
Sandy

Image Handler is giving you the error message because you are attempting to reload an image that Image Handler sees already exists in your image directory. (hence the warning to change the base file name)
To add a image file that you've used on another product on a different product, this would be done in product edit. You simply need to add the image you have used for one product to a different product. (using the function that allows you to add an image already stored on the server) Hope that makes sense.. If not, since this is not really an Image Handler question, rather it's more of a store functionality question.. If you need more clarification on this, I suggest reposting the question as a seperate topic.

Theres nothing in the BMZ cache folder but a ".keep" file.
Guys look, did everything suggested and all is installed perfectly with the correct permissions set correctly and everything.
Unfortunately I still get these errors. Could anyone think of anything else which might be the problem?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Gonna be honest with you.. You may be at the point where you need to pay someone to take a peek under the hood to help straighten this out for you. Without seeing your code, or knowing many details about what other mods you installed or how they were installed, it is but a guess for many I suspect at this point to make any further suggestions.. There is no reason why under NORMAL circumstances that IH2 would not work as it should without any fuss, but clearly there is an issue with your install, and having all gone through the ususal suspects, I personally am stumped.. Given that no one else has chimed in on your specific issues, I am guessing that so are others.. I only have one more suggestion, but most people will ALWAYS say no to this the 1st time I suggest it..
The only other thing you can do if you have no interest in hiring some assistance in this matter is to peel this onion back layer by layer.. This means creating a parallel test site, and install each add-on one by one.. I know I know I know.. NO ONE ever wants to do this.. but it will probably take less time to do this than to spend anymore time trying to figure out why things don't work..
I would do this by creating a generic template (there are instructions in the Zen FAQs for this) so that template related issues can be ruled out off the bat. The purpose of this exercise is to get everything working from a functional persepective FIRST, and then apply the look and feel so the generic template helps facilitate that..
One by one install your mods. I suggest starting this exercise with re-installing the mod that is the source of the issue. Test every step of the way to see if you get the same error. Hopefully you get through all the mods, and restoring your template and everything works in harmony.

Its a good idea. I don't think I've come to the point I'd need to pay somebody. :D I mean..I've been messing and learning zencart for quite some time now and I really feel like I know how the system works and everthing so, my guess is, something else other than IH2 is causing this problem, therefore I'll probably take your idea and do some tests. I do actually have another store on the server. :smartalec:

How are you unloading your additional images?
Are you following the correct naming scheme for additional images?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
An update! So I installed a brand new cart on my server along with some demo products. Then installed IH2 and guess what? SAME ERRORS. :( So...I tried installing IH on another cart on a DIFFERENT server and guess what? IT WORKED! :) So this is defaintley server problem related. I checked the PHP version on both servers and the server running with IH just fine actually has a slightly older version. I think something is preventing the script from working it may not be permissions related because I checked the permissions so many times and it seems good for sure. So, I don't know...any ideas?

It might help if you posted the versions of PHP that is running on the server where it did work and the PHP version for the server where it didn't..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Yes of course.
IH working server is version: 5.2.6.
IH not working server is version: 5.2.10.
I'm trying to compare PHP parameters from both servers to see if maybe one parameter on the NOT working server has it disabled.

One of the certified hosts I use tried 5.2.10 and a lot of things broke. They rolled back to 5.2.9 and all was well with folks PHP scripts.

Good to know! Sounds like I should try this. Only thing I'm concerned about is whether upgrading or downgrading will affect the cart installed on the server? :lookaroun

Because there is a general concern about what will happen to most Zen stores when web hosts upgrade to ANY version of PHP greater than v5.2.9. This apparently is breaking point for Zen Cart and many of it's add-ons.. (That's why I asked about PHP versions when you reported your findings..)

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Well ok. Silll, do you think downgrading to 5.2.9 from 5.2.10 will affect the cart in any way? Ruin the database or stuff like that?

Unlikely, but I am not the best person to ask.. You might wanna contact your host and ask them.. In any case you should back up your store files and DB before rolling back anyway..

My friend is my host but since my question regards zen cart I'm not sure he'll know...anyway, I got the backups ready so I'll try downgrading tomorrow. If everything works out, the problem will be solved at last. :)

Anything under 5.3 is fine, do not downgrade, your problem is a faulty installation.

Your husband will shoot us if he reads this.
Regarding 5.2.10 and 5.2.11, they are basically security improvements on the same 5.2.x branch.
Re www.php.net the changelog for these versions.
5.3 is a different branch which will break even Drupal.
So, logic says that if it worked on 5.2.9 it should continue to work on higher versions of the same branch.
HOWEVER, we know for a fact that it works on 5.2.9.
So, just to eliminate all possibilities it wouldn't be a bad idea after all to try that.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
The previous version of IH2 kinda worked but it worked.
Today, I decided to upgrade to the new version. In order to not have any conflicts with the lightbox, I uninstalled it first and then uninstalled the old version of IH. And then installed the new version. I didn't just overwrite the old files, I went in and uninstalled the old files so the new ones were fresh.
I use winscp as my ftp.
I can get to my backend but if I go to access IH, I get a 500 server error. And it's not listed under Configuration>Images like it should be.
This is not a new site but the only upgrade I have installed is the patch.
I have these mods:
TinyMice
Email Exporter
Google Checkout
Paypal Verified Logo
Blank Sidebox
Sales Report
Maximum Allowed in Cart
I have a template that is using the classic folder instead of it's own to avoid problems. I broke the site trying to use any other template folder.
We have our own VPS, I checked the php version before I started, it's version 5.2.9.
Any clues or do I go back to the old version?
It worked sortof, but it had issues such as the png files did not work, gif files worked about 1/3 of the time. etc.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I have been working on this for days and cannot fix it.
I have the Image hander installed and working...to a point.
When I bring up Tools -> Image Handler and the the product, I get the product with three placeholders fo the images, but no images. I just get three boxes with the red X. If I upload the images again, I get a second row of the same images with X's, but these have a delete button under them. I canno get the images to show.
The rollover works in the store for the small image only. If I delete the image from the product and then upload again, the rollover doesn't work.
Can someone help please?
Thanks,
katlyn

Actually Zend recommends to update to 5.2.11 for users of the 5.2.x branch.
So it does not make sense to me that this recommended upgrade can break a 5.2.x install.
The only way to know for sure is to actually do a fresh install of a Zen Cart demo store on a 5.2.10 or 5.2.11 PHP version.
I have not done that.
There might be a hidden vulnerability in Zen Cart that these security enhancements address, without an actual test it is hard to tell.

My store is on 1.38a with IH2. I thought I followed the directions, but apparently I did something wrong.
I uploaded the new files, and when I tried to get into admin
I have the following error:
Fatal error: Cannot redeclare bmz_clear_cache()
in data/home/kachinas/websites/kachinaoutpost.com/docs/includes/
functions/functions_bmz_io.php
Is there anything I can do that can allow me to get back into
admin?
Unfortunately, as I don't know how to "test", this is a live store.
I did stop the advertising, and it's a relatively new site. I also had them backup the data on the server two days ago.
Maybe I should have uninstalled and reinstalled IH.
As a bit of background, I had uploaded the large images
480 x 640 thru IH, but Google has always said the site was too slow. So I actually did the large and medium images and optimized them. I didn't realize I should have cleared the bmz cache. One of the articles mentioned that the best way to do that is eliminate the folders in the bmz_cache, which may be what set this problem in motion.
I still have the older IH download which may have the older version of this file. Would that help, or make things worse??
Any help you can give me would be very much appreciated.
Thanks so much.

My FIRST suggestion is to carefully remove all of the IH2 files and folders.
Then re-install the latest version of IH2. DO NOT install ANY of the "Optional Extras" files.. If you read the latest version if IH2s readme, you will understand why.

Unfortunately it depends on which older version of IH2 you are referring to. The version numbering from previous versions was pretty much non-existent. So you would have to know the date and author of the specific version for me to give you an answer to this question.. At least ONE of the previous versions was problematic. All that to say, I do not think it would be a good idea to rollback to an older version.
The latest version includes a few javascript improvements that have been posted in the forum, along with improved documentation, version numbering, and some cleanup of un-needed files/folder (not used by IH at all). There were no changes to core code at all.. Again the readme (which almost no one ever reads ) explains the changes found in the latest version..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
What I would suggest is what I ended up having to do...
Remove all IH files altogether. I also removed all mods and all template files.
I then, started to reinstall ZC as if it were an upgrade, NOT uploading anything in the download or image folders. The minute I got to the zc_install folder, my store reappeared.
I have since reinstalled, very carefully all the templates and mods I needed. Backing up between EACH one.
Put it took going back to a plain, vanilla, ZC to get mine back.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Thanks so much to DivaVocals and southernlady for your suggestions. They appear two-fold, so I just want to verify I've "got it" before I continue.
I have always thought of the files on my computer as a backup, but needless to say (dah!) , when you make changes it isn't a backup at all!
The server has a separate folder I hadn't used, so I will use that as a test store, and upload the most current version of ZC in that folder and use the database backup so hopefully, I will end up with an actual test site.
On my live site, I need to delete all the IH files and folders that were uploaded and reinstall the latest version of IH 2.
Before I begin, do I have the correct order?
Thanks sooo much!

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Yes.. with a few additional points.. Normally you would store a backup of your site on your local computer.. and if you do have a TRUE backup of your entire store and DB, then rolling back shouldn't be an issue.. I assumed that you didn't have a working backup because often time I find that when folks treat their live store as a dev site that the backups needed to roll back ususally just aren't there..
Like I told you in my PM, you want to backup everything so that if it all goes wrong you can rolll back to the previous state.. (the DB and site backup add-ons are an EASY PEEZY way to do this) That said you REALLY should create a test site for testing mods BEFORE you apply them to your live site.. And you need to keep backups of this test site as well so that if you can roll back the test site if needed..
That said, best to remove IH2 and start over.. and let me add another caveat because I see it happen FAR TOO OFTEN (like just yesterday in fact). To remove IH2 remove ONLY the IH2 files. DO NOT DELETE your regular image folders.. You only need to delete the SPECIFIC files that are a part of the IH2 add-on... and YES while there are a few files stored in the images folder, you only need to remove the image files specific to IH2. Take your time and go through each folder ONE BY ONE and CAREFULLY remove the IH2 files.. Sorry to look like I'm yelling.. I'm not.. just emphasizing..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Well, I've carefully deleted all the ih and bmz files from my store, and the server. There were some php files in the new release that overwrote others, such as modules/pages/popupimage, and popup_inmage_additional
as well as, for instance the css stylesheet imagehover. I didn't delete those. I rechecked to see if I can get into the administration portion of my store, but I still have the same error message on a white screen. Amazingly enough, the front end of the store still operates, though the images are a bit large. Am I supposed to delete those as well since they were added in the IH update?
I was unaware of backup mods available until your email so I downloaded those. Are these files to be uploaded in the Zen Cart admin, includes etc folders as designated, keeping the file structure.
As it appears this backup is done from the administration panel, which I can't yet access, I'll try setting up a test site
before attempting that.
If all of the IH files and those php files that were uploaded were deleted, would the administration area be accessible?
Any suggestions to that goal would be very much appreciated.
Thanks so much.

DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT delete ANY of the product images inthe REGULAR image folders.. They are MANAGED by IH2, but not CREATED by IH2. I hope that makes sense.. You can link images to categories and products WITHOUT IH2. IH2 simply makes the process of adding additional product images easier, and it optimisez your images.. (that's what my earlier rant on this was about..)
The files that were overwritten by IH2 should be restored from default versions of those files..

I can assure you both of the backup apps are safe, but applaud the fact that you will TEST before rolling them out:clap:.. Follow the easy install instructions fo rboth mods and you should be all set.. If you've renamed your admin folder, you need to rename the admin folder for those mods as well.. If you need to talk more about the backup mods, start a new topic on it. (so we don't hijack this thread..

Possible if IH2 was the true cause of your issues accessing the admin.. The error message seems to indicate so, but it could be another mod..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi there. As someone who is stumbling their way through Zencart and making some slow progress. I'm always looking for enhancements and features to try out on my site but as a complete techno-dummy I find it easier to view and try features first before I decide whether I should add them to my project.
Is there a working site I can view Image Handler 2 and or Zen Lightbox so I can get a feel for both of these?

Image Handler isn't something you can "see" by looking at someone else's website. It is primarily an administration application so you can see it unless you are logged into the backend of someone's website. The best way to see it is to setup a test site, install it and see what it does for yourself.
As for Zen Lightbox, the better place to ask for sample links is on the Zen Lightbox support thread. What you will see is pretty much how most lightboxes work.. Try Googling "Lightbox" if you are just trying to see what a lightbox effect looks like..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Yeah! The backend of my store is back up!
I went through carefully and removed all the bmz and ih files as suggested. . When I tried to check the administrative page, it still didn't come up. However, I decided to wait to plot out how I'd back up and duplicate the site first before I do anything else. I checked today, and the backend was there.
Anyone else trying this should give it some time to see if they were successful.
IH is completely off the site now. Once I back up, I have lots yet to do.
Thanks so much!

Please explain the highlighted section.. You used a template that already had IH2 bundled in???? Not sure I understand what it is you are saying.. Also with regards to the error message.. Seems incomplete.. (no indication which file is throwing the error..) Can you post the FULL error message you are getting..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I had previously tried to update my IH2. While the storefront was there, the backend was not. As instructed, I carefully deleted all bmz and IH files. Some time later on, the backend reappeared.
I backed up the site, several times, in fact!
This meant I either had to resize and optimize three sizes of images, or try a new install of IH2.
I decided to reinstall IH2. This time, I have the store frontend and the backup up, and Image Handler 2 is shown in the administration panel, however, when I click on that, the following appears:
Warning: require(includes/ih_manager.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /data/home/kachinas/websites/kachinaoutpost.com/docs/admin/image_handler.php on line 153
Warning: require(includes/ih_manager.php) [function.require]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /data/home/kachinas/websites/kachinaoutpost.com/docs/admin/image_handler.php on line 153
Fatal error: require() [function.require]: Failed opening required 'includes/ih_manager.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php5/share/pear:/usr/local/share/adodb') in /data/home/kachinas/websites/kachinaoutpost.com/docs/admin/image_handler.php on line 153
As all appeared to relate to image handler php, I went into that page and looked at line 153, which starts with
require
if ($page == 'manager') {
// manager actions are handled in a seperate file
require('includes/ih_manager.php');
}
Can anyone see what the problem could be? This file was uploaded.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
In researching the email #4448, I found something interesting and wonder if others have seen the same thing.
In the IH 1.3.7 upgrade, the image handler, in Admin, and the ih_manager appear as the other php with a blue
hyperlink.
However, in the IH 1.3.8 Rev 7, these two files, unlike the other php files, appear in black, no hyperlink.
Since these two files appear to be the cause of my problems, I'm going to download Rev 7 again, and see if these two files were corrupted at download.
Anyone else see this before?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hey guys, I'm not yet done with downgrading the PHP version on my server but in the meanwhile I'm expermenting with IH on another server where it works just fine.
Even though it works fine, I noticed that IH doesn't resize my images. Apparently it seem to be using the same image SIZE on all cases. Do I have to disable something in the config? IH is set to 'yes' for resizing image so this is why I think its weird. Any help appreciated thanks! :)

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Spent last night combing the forums for an issue thats existed on my site for over a year, I had hoped it would of been noticed by a larger group or fixed by now, but it still remains.
The issue is as far as I can tell from every ZC shop I have seen:
******EXISTS ON EVERY SITE WITH IH2! :shocking: ******
Try your own site for this issue, if this issue does not does exist please post your URL or jscript_imagehover.js file.
The issue is in the following browsers:
Safari, Google Chrome, Opera:
The image hover [+] image displays fine until the page is scrolled down, so any products at the bottom of the page with [+] hover images are displayed out of sight (above the fold) at the top of the page, in the last place the images were before the scroll.
IE & FF work perfectly BTW...
here are some previous threads that mentioned this issue, but got lost/unresolved in the shuffle, get your bump on!

True a small issue (hey it works on IE & FF), but guess it depends on your site layout and user base, all of my pages are long so this issue is on every page and I have many Safari customers.
I hope there is fix soon. Please post if you have a solution!

Another suggestion if you don't find the answer here is to try posting this request in the commercial section.. This might be one of those solutions that you will have to enagage the services of a developer to get this resolved for you..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Just installed IH2 and having some problems.
1) Watermarks aren't showing up on product info pages:
http://beta.buydentalequipment.com/c...rs-guide-p-252
I have JQLightbox installed and thought perhaps that was causing a problem but trying to turn it off didn't make any difference. I also tried some modified files from a forum post which did nothing. In addition I've tried to clear my images cache with no solution. It appears as though the product_info page is grabbing the wrong link and not using the one out of bmz_cache
2) Watermarks are missing some categories and on others are only partly working:
No watermarks : http://beta.buydentalequipment.com/c...s-c-3_57_71_72
Some missing : http://beta.buydentalequipment.com/c...tors-c-3_92_94
3) Whatever the little plus is supposed to do it's throwing an error:
showtrail is not defined
showtrail("bmz_cache/d/d15f58c49... 100, 80, 100, 80, this, 0, 0, 100, 80);
hidetrail is not defined
hidetrail();
This is from firefox. IE does nothing.
---------------------
In addition I'm curious. Currently we have a shop with about 1000 products in it. The previous administrator didn't know about multiple size images so they were never uploaded in different sizes. Does image handler actually go back and create medium and small images for all my current images?? If so then I'd really appreciate help with the above as this plugin is much needed.
The site is located at http://beta.buydentalequipment.com

Alright, I've got this licked. The problem was with additional_images.php and main_product_image.php which are located in includes/modules
JQLightbox provides these two files however they put them in an override directory. So these files were always loading the JQLightbox version. It turns out that forum post I mentioned fixed the problem but I didn't copy/paste correctly so until I looked around the problem persisted. By copying the files from modules into my override directory the problem went away. Although I suppose the easier solution might be to just delete those two files from the overrides directory so that they load up the normal version.
The rest of my problems still persist with one change. The images that aren't watermarked in the normal category listing are also not watermarked on the product_info page. Perhaps these images are too small to apply the watermark?

I kinda figured that but shouldn't IH2 pass that info along in the admin/image_handler.php file?
Anyone know what needs to be edited in order for the admin previews to work?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I'm running Image Handler v2 on ZC 1.3.8a at http://straightrazordesigns.com.
I've recently run into an issue where on some products, the image will not display. Not only that put the html output will cease, and the entire page (body, footer) will not be sent to the client. I've tracked it back to the image, and mabye to IH2.
I've done this by disabling images. When I do that, the entire html will output. Renable the images and it halts in the middle.
If I go into the IH2 admin area, the images won't display there either, and html output stops short. Any ideas from anyone?
Thanks
David

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi Guys,
I have just discovered that In the last couple of months some hacker/s have being using my websites to plant fishing software in the "bmz_cache" and "images" folders.
I think this hacker/s is someone that knows about the existance of these ZC folders with the kind of permissions required by IH.
For simpleness I had kept the folders permissions to 777 because IH would not be able to write its initial cache otherwise.
Now that I have, hopefully had, this problem I have changed the folders permissions to 755, do you think this will do the trick?
Do you think this is the best solution to keep carrying on using IH and not get hacked again?
Kind Regards

I have exact same configuration and it works fine in IE.
Character 154 on line 225 is an open parenthesis, maybe that is missing.
Upload the file again, this may be the consequence of a corrupt transfer.
In some respects, FF is more forgiving (smarter?) than IE.

This is my specific example.
The Test Patterns in IH2 have the full url path pointing to their bmz_cache location but as someone else mentioned, the product image preview urls stop short.
The product images do show properly on the main pages and are pointing at the correct url

I do not have a light box installed yet as I was waiting to resolve this issue first.

A corrupt image will do this.
Server timeout when processing a large image for IH will create a corrupt image.
Using ' " in the image description (Jon's Razor) can cause the page to break.
Using spacing in the file name also know to cause problem.

Ok.. I have this one somewhat licked. For some reason Zen Cart was looking in my themes directory instead of template_default for the jscript_imagehover.js file. I moved it over to my themes jscript folder and suddenly the little plus came to life.
Still not sure why Zen Cart incorrectly linked to the file via my themes directory.
Still having problems with number 2. Which was that some of the watermarks aren't showing up. To clarify the issue some more it would seem image handler just isn't getting invoked on some files. Not only do watermarks not show up but also missing is the little plus. In addition viewing the image will show the image from Zen Cart's images directory and not from bmz_cache.
Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I've got to be honest.. I've NEVER been able to get the watermarking in IH2 to work correctly, and I decided to let that battle go.. My clients now use a watermarking tool that batch processes whole folders of files.. Then they upload the watermarked images via IH2.. I know that's not the solution to what's wrong with IH2, but it is a viable alternate solutionif it helps..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Found another issue. Not sure if this is a biggie. In the admin section under tools->IH2 if you choose preview the images all seem to be broken.
I did some looking around and it would seem the path wasn't getting set correctly for these images.. all had a double /cart/cart in them.
I opened up image_handler.php and hacked the bottom of the page where the images where linked. I changed:
Code:
<td><img style="border: 1px solid #000000; background:url(images/checkpattern.gif)" src="<?php echo HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . $images['pngsource']?>" /></td>
<td><img style="border: 1px solid #000000; background:url(images/checkpattern.gif)" src="<?php echo HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . $images['pngsmall']?>" /></td>
<td><img style="border: 1px solid #000000; background:url(images/checkpattern.gif)" src="<?php echo HTTP_SERVER . DIR_WS_CATALOG . $images['pngmedium']?>" /></td>
to:
Code:
<td><img style="border: 1px solid #000000; background:url(images/checkpattern.gif)" src="<?php echo HTTP_SERVER .'/'. $images['pngsource']?>" /></td>
<td><img style="border: 1px solid #000000; background:url(images/checkpattern.gif)" src="<?php echo HTTP_SERVER .'/'. $images['pngsmall']?>" /></td>
<td><img style="border: 1px solid #000000; background:url(images/checkpattern.gif)" src="<?php echo HTTP_SERVER . '/' . $images['pngmedium']?>" /></td>
In the sections marked <!-- source png row --> <!-- source jpg row --> and <!-- source gif row -->
Not sure if everyone was having this issue or just me. It would appear I have everything defined correctly.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
It would appear I had an old version of IH2 installed this whole time. Reading through the release notes of various versions I believe some of my problems might have been addressed if I had been using Rev 7 this whole time.
I've overwritten the original IH2 files with Rev 7 and this seemed to fix up the preview images and I think it would have also fixed my hover issues.
I still get some images working and some not though. I've tried to troubleshoot and figure out what's going on but nothing I'm doing is having any effect.
You can see it clearly on my specials page:
http://beta.buydentalequipment.com/cart/specials
Three images are missing the watermark and zoom + completely. If you view images on these it will point to the original image and not to the bmz_cache. Mousing over these images does produce the zoom however.
It seems to be random. Some categories are devoid of watermarks some are half and half and yet others have all their watermarks applied.
Also.. while notes in the various versions said that IH2 doesn't apply to the default no_image file it seems on mine it does.

I don't have a problem at all to watermark images.
Just set to yes for small, medium, and large and I get the watermark, and it even works with Zen Lightbox for large images.
In my live website they are set to "no" because I don't like the effect and don't care if somebody steals the images.
That's all I do, no special trick.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I am experiencing a strange situation with IH2.
After choosing the category/sub-cat from the drop down box under Manager page, IH2 goes back to the Admin page? Also it is showing "* Product is disabled* for 2 sub-cats that I just added products to - so they are not "disabled."
A bit confused as to why IH2 is going back to the Admin page and why is it saying these 2 sub-cats have disabled products?

Some of my clients do care about their photos being stolen (it happens A LOT in their industires). I'm gonna take another look at it, but even if I got the watermarking to work consistently, I don't like the way the IH2 watermarks look.. The batch watermarking software my clients use does a much nicer job..

You can customize the watermark image to look and say whatever you want.

You should.
Batch watermarking will not preserve your base image, it will be an irreversible change.
Just customize a nice transparent .png and with IH you can toggle on and off at will, change the image, etc., no changes are made to the base image.

Actually it does because the watermarked images are watermarked copies of the originals.. But I'll play around with IH2's watermarking again and see if I get a better result..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
If your watermark contains text (like a web U*R*L) and you make it a dark color, give the letters a faint outer glow of a light color. With this, your watermark will be readable over images that have both light and dark areas.

Using spacing in the file name also know to cause problem.
It's not a large image.. It was working before.. As a matter of fact, the problem seems to come and go.. The original file name, of the problem item now was: Pacific_5346e_sm.jpg
But doesn't IH2 rename everything? How can I determine what the IH2 names are?
Thanks

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Does anyone have an idea as to why the test images have the full url, yet my admin previews of my product images do not?
Here is another example using firebug which shows the incomplete path.

You stubborn lady.
You don't need to make copies if you use IH2 for that.

:laugh::laugh: Alright.. I'm going to take you and kiddo's word for this, and accept that it is something I've setup incorrectly.. I will be back to the test store to get this all hammered out..

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Hi all!
Got a problem with zen cart 1.3.8a and image handler 2.0 rev7. I don't know why but there is no "/" in images path. So I get something like this:
src="bmz_cache992b24f702b35a5f51eb48bb664226f88.image.76x80.jpg"
instead of
src="bmz_cache/9/92b24f702b35a5f51eb48bb664226f88.image.76x80.jpg"
Image handler downloaded today from link : image_handler__for_vx_Ver2-0rev7.zip
Page address: http://www.forast.pl/
Any sollution?

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I seem to be experiencing the issue described here. When I go to choose a cat or sub cat from the Manager page it goes back to the Admin page.
What can I do to fix this? Thank you in advance for all help.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I FINALLY figured out why IH2 wasn't applying watermarks to some images. It took me a long while banging my head against the wall. I already ran into one .png file that IH2 seemed to barf at but a reupload as jpg fixed it just fine. I never suspected what was wrong until I went to save one of the bad jpg's that wasn't getting watermarked.
Firefox wanted to save it as a gif. Sure enough all my pretty images that were name XXXXX.jpg were actually .gif's
I imaging IH2 tried to load up the image as a jpg.. that barfed.. so it decided to serve the original image. And thankfully Firefox and other browsers are forgiving about the extension and show them anyway.
It turns out a TON of images on my site are borked. I'll be spending a lot of time hunting down the originals and re-uploading.
Hopefully it helps someone.

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
I'm not sure if I understand exactly what you're trying to say happened here, but it sounds like you had images of different filetypes for the SAME product. (ie: some images are PNGs and some are JPGs) If this is the case, you should go through the IH2 readme again.. There is a section in the readme where we've explicity included information about mixed file formats used as product images for a single product. All images for any single product MUST be the same file format.. Please review IH2 the readme for the details..
BTW, Firefox or any other browser does not dictate what file format your images are saved in.. The saving is all a function of IH2, the format is based on the images you've uploaded..

Whoever originally uploaded the images (I inherited this cart) apparently saved the images as .gif however with the .jpg extension.
So I had XXXX.jpg -> Which was actually a .gif file
Looks like about half of my images are actually .gif's wearing the wrong extension (.jpg)
Image handler didn't know what to do. Apparently Firefox and IE don't bother with what the extension is and actually check what kind of file it is internally..
This wasn't IH2's fault in anyway (unless you chastize it for not being super smart and just believing that a said extension is the file format). Once I changed the filename to .gif and pointed Zen Cart at the new file IH2 behaved correctly.
So now I'm manually going through my live store and fixing extensions.. using my beta store and IH2 as a guide to what's screwed up. Later I'll recopy my Live store to beta.. reinstall IH2 and presto.. it should work like magic.
This stores a mess anyway.. I've been meaning to manually go through just about every product!!! :)

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
A batch renaming program will make this a lot easier.. Try this one:

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
So I don't see anything in this thread, but I downloaded the latest version of IH2, rev 7, and I don't see a folder called "Optional Extras". Is there a folder or is it specific files in the package?

If you can't find it, consider yourself lucky..

It seems that I did not have the latest version installed, I thought I did because it was only about 2 months ago that I had installed it. I went ahead and installed the latest version from the downloads area here and my issue seems to be fixed!
Lesson learned: always update!

Image Handler and EZ-Pages
Hi All,
I assume that the answer is that it can't be done or isn't implemented but thought I would ask the question:
Is there a way to use Image Handler on EZ-Pages? I actually want to display product images in an EZ-Page format, does anyone know if a quick dip using php code would yield an image that has all of the logic of IH2 applied to it?
Many thanks,
BH

SEO and Image Handler
Greetings,
First I would like to thank the developers of IH2, this addon is invaluable in making a ZC site look and act professional and competitive.
My question would be if there are any plans or workarounds to get control of the image names as pops out of the caching process? We added a lot to the product image names for SEO purposes and it would be great if there was a way to try return some relevance to the resulting URL.
We do see the Alt tags working and we are talking about renaming our products at the risk of cluttering up the human experience so that we can seed the SEO with more information. - unfortunately it looks like we have to modify the visible title to do this and not just the semi-visible Alt tags themselves.
Even being able to rename the caching directory structure would allow us to be able to get some more words in the URL that we would like picked up by the SE's.
Thanks again for a great prod,
BH

Re: Image Handler 2 Support
Is it possible to use IH2 to upload the same image on multiple products (applications)? If so, how do I do that, any particular settings that I am missing?
I have IH2 v2.0 rev 7. Thanks for your help.
