I have someone who recently had image handler removed but did save aside backups of the bmz_cache folder and the images folder. Now they would rather go back to the image handler and have asked me to install image handler and get their images back.
If I install image handler for them and then put the backups of the bmz_cache and images folder back in place, will image handler be able to recognize the previously created images from the last install?
only time this happened to me was when i accidently named several images the same name...roses, lili etcQuote:

In your store admin section have you checked to see that image handler was installed? admin/tools/image handler
admin/configuration/images make sure the settings are set right.
did you get any type of error message when installing this?
go to the server and check to make sure you uploaded each and every file correctly, just having 1 out of place can make things go nutty

Upon the install everything went smooth and I can even add multiple images. But I'll go and reinstall all the files one more time.
For now I made a screen shot of my settings in the config>images section.

I added the files again but no change. But I think the problem is with the files and my originals perhaps? When I was using my FTP Filezilla it was asking if I want to do overwrites on these files:
main_product_image.php
additional_images.php
I then uninstalled the this contrib and found my images were still text. I have the original files and reinstalled those two files in the the includes>modules folders...all is well. So the good thing is I have isolated the problem. But I'm not a coder:wacko:
I recently installed IH2 and it works perfectly except for the product listing page. The hover image shows up, but when I scroll down the page the image no longer follows the picture. It works on the first 8 or 9 product images, but after that the hover image will not move down the screen and eventually scrolls of the top of the screen the further you go down the page. I found a few threads that had suggestions, but still having this problem.

Just had a thought. I have my product listing set to 30 products per page. Is there a setting in the style_imagehover.css that I could alter to accommodate the increased page size or should that even matter?

I don't know if it is a situation that indicates a problem or not...
On one site i have i use the define-pages-editor and ez pages a lot, with lots of images too... as it is more than just a e-commerce site.
I had noticed that my images on these pages were disappearing, i didn't know where to until yesterday and i realised that these images were (some how) being added to products as additional images by IH2.
After correcting this oddness via the IH2 admin area i created a new folder on my server called images-cms, added all the images i use on my define and EZ pages.. changed the paths etc and everything is back to normal...
If anyone knows why... or how... please tell me...
Otherwise.. all is cool (but it has only been 1 day.. lol)

Probably not an IH2 issue as IH2 doesn't alter the code that drives how additional images are "found" by Zen Cart.. The way Zen Cart "identifies" additional images has EVERYTHING to do with where the images are located + the base image name. If you look at the image names that were the issue and compare those to images on the products they showed up as additional images for this might make sense..

On reason I like IH2 is because trying to explain how additional images work in Zen Cart to clients always guarantees to confuse.. So IH2 makes it easy for them as it handles naming all the additional product images..

I played with both, set up two fresh test sites both identical and the only mod installed being IH2.
both dead easy to install, both easily managed via the admin and by css.
However i noticed that on the site with Fual Slimbox, when i scrolled the background flickered and i could scroll down forever. So i went with zen lightbox. Up on saying that, Fual Slimbox is by far much faster to load images.
both are excellent mods! guess it is just a case of 'suck it and see' for which one to go for...

My camera came with Picture Project, which is limited and now dated since I changed computers to Win7 64 bit. PP saves jpegs as .JPG and that's what my main photo and 2 additions photos were don on.

I have Zox installed and working in XOOPS. I am having a problem getting Image Handler to work after installing it in Zox. Specifically, Image Handler does not show up under the Admin-Tools menu in ZC.
The Store_Root folder is installed in the Zox Module's root folder, zox, where the index.php file is located. I renamed admin to reflect the proper name for the zox admin folder. I renamed include/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE folder to include/templates/ArkiTEC-HD Black, which is the template's name that I am using.
Then I installed the contents of the Store_Root folder into the zox store root, where index.php is located.
Problem:
In Admin, under Tools, I do not see see a new entry for Image Handler 2, which I can click on to "Install Image Handler". It appears that Image Handler 2 is not installing into zox, which is the Zen Cart Module for Xoopz 2.4. Fual Lightbox is working wonderfully under the Zox module. So, perhaps, I am installing into the wrong folder or template, I wonder???

Not likely an issue caused by IH2 at all. Image Handler very MINIMALLY affects the layout and look of images on pages. It's probably a stylesheet adjustment, which is not on topic for this particular support thread... I had similar problem. I found a fix in post 3809 of this forum and it did resolve the problem for me.
Is it possible to modify image handler2 so that an arrow would appear to let you scroll to the next image on the page?

This is covered in the readme BTW... Here is the LIKELY problem.. If your main product image and your additional images are not all the same filetype, then your additional product images WILL NOT DISPLAY. Image Handler DOES NOT KNOW the difference between a JPG or PNG file.. It merely uploads the files you select and re-names correctly them to follow Zen Carts rules for additional product images.. IF your images are of all different filetypes (Main image is PNG and additional images are JPGs for example) then your additional product images WILL NOT WORK

A link to your site would be helpful so we're not all guessing here.. Especially since I am not exactly sure of what you mean by a "more information page". Additional images show on the product detail page in the Additional Images section..

After I changed my Small image (Width & Height) in Admin/Configuration/Images... The image Hover stops working on those images!!!
I need to make my small images a little bit larger and I still want the hover to work.
How can I do that?

Image Handler is an IMAGE MANAGEMENT module. It is not a lightbox or a slideshow module. (Which seems to be what you are looking for) Please look in the free downloads to see if you can find what you want there.. I have a new install of Zen Cart 1.3.8. I installed image handler 2 and it said it installed successfully. When I go to manage images I get this error all over the place:

Like some others here, I'm not able to get a watermark to show on my images. In configuration->images, I have "IH watermark large images" set to "yes" (I only want the watermark on my large images). And, I have a file images/large/watermark_LRG.png.

it doesn't look like it is uploading totally when you resave your image in photoshop?? try doing a "save for web" then choose either the gif, jpg or png and upload it after you save it.
After a bit more experimenting, I'm still not getting watermarks *except* when I roll over a small image (to produce a medium image). I've put watermark files in the large and medium directories as well as in the main images directory.
Any suggestions?

Debugging this would be a lot easier if I understood how/when the watermark is supposed to be applied. I get the impression that it's applied dynamically, so I shouldn't be surprised that I don't see it in the image files in bmz_cache.
What do you mean when you say you "set the sizes different?"

I really don't understand how IH2 works, I guess. I tried uninstalling and deleting the cache. I then re-installed, and attempted to add a picture from my uploads directory. I got an error message saying the file already exists. Of course it exists; how else would IH2 be able to process it?
So, I uploaded the pic from my local system. I've got the images back, but...no watermarks and no rollover.

yes it will say that...mine did too when i first put it in and then had to mess with uninstalling/reinstalling...what i had to do was go to the store/images and manually delete them from the server to reup them again.Quote:

So I tested this patch last night.. In addition to this patch not being PHP 5.3 compatible, the section which explains the change needed to get the zoom effect to work on medium images breaks my product detail pages.
In addition (as I have always maintained), there is specific code in this patch which appears to be in direct conflict with nearly all lightbox contributions..
With regards to zooming on medium images, IMO, it makes sense that perhaps this "non-working" feature should probably be "removed" in the next IH2 release.. This will eliminate ANY confusion on this matter for users of this mod. I am working on a PHP 5.3 compatible version of IH2 and if I am able to finish this release, I will be removing this setting from the IH2 admin.
Now if there is anyone who has WORKING PHP 5.3 compatible code which gets zoom to work on medium images AND does not interfere with lightbox contributions, hopefully they will be willing to share their code with the community.. I haven't found anything else that includes any specific code other than the patch post..

my hosts are upgrading to PHP5.3, as far as i know, this is the only mod that i use on my three sites that will break. while i dont use the fancy AJAX image hover (i dont like it) i love how it handles small/medium image adjusting on the fly and the watermark feature is a must...

all i know is that I do not have php 5.3, I have 5.2.6 with zend 2.2.0
and when i first installed IH2 the hover did not work, the mid size would not show when the hover finally did work
I played with the sizes of my images then one day I came in and the hover with medium image showed and there was the watermark for both the med and lrg images
that is why I uploaded earlier the images of how my setting are in the images section of configuration so others may try them too and see if they behave.
now I had to also try it in a different browser too for the caching or cookie for the store did not catch up immediately with Firefox but once it did start working with the others it finally did with firefox too.
I just want to thank DivaVocals for all she has done with the addon and here to help with problems.

To further my previous point. Here's all Ms Gunderson bothered to put in her mod description.. The rest of it is EXACTLY the same as the original IH2.. So there is NO CLEAR WAY to distinguish what is different about this version (if anything)
For the record this vague description says absolutely NOTHING. IMO this version will cause ISSUES and confusion since the author doesn't bother to elaborate on the "fixes" included. (the author doesn't even update the readme file with at LEAST some release notes AT ALL)Quote:

why submit this "version" as a whole new module??? If what she's done is an IMPROVEMENT to IH2 as a whole, it should have been submitted as an UPDATE to Image Handler.. (with YOUR OWN README FILE which clearly states that your mod is a fork, spin-off, whatever of the original). This way it is CLEAR what is being downloaded and what it brings to the table.. Yes I know of an image management software that watermarks images.. It's called IMAGE HANDLER (the original version).. Can you tell me what is different about the version Judy Gunderson submitted??? Sure chime away.. As a member of this community you or anyone else can contribute the better documentation you seek.. I co-wrote the current readme, and frankly I thought we did a MUCH better job than the original readme file in laying out HOW to use the application and HOW to install it.. That said I don't know how to explain any better how to set up images than what's in the current readme. So if anyone wants that improved, please write that up and, I am happy to incorporate it into the readme for the next release..Quote:

What I was getting at is, it's quite possible -- in fact, probable -- that IH2 is quite fine just the way it is, and that my troubles with it are more due to my lack of thorough understanding of it. I wasn't offended, I was merely pointing out that as the co-author of the current readme document I was under the impression that we already HAD clearly explained things.. So if that is not true, then someone will have to provide me with copy to include in the readme file that is improved based on community needs..
