I don't have any image that shows up with my read/write reviews pages.
Is this related to IH? Thank you!
hello, I wanted to know which is the file goes to read the images created in the folder bmz_chache. Thanks
Small Image Zoom - It's working, but I want to turn it off and in Config > Images there is no IH Zoom Gravity option.
After hours of trying to figure this one out (as I had the same problem) the answer is simple.
When uploading the module you need to create a folder in your
store root/includes/templates for YOUR template
My problem was just copying the files within "YOUR_TEMPLATE" to the templates folder without creating a folder with the same name as my template.
:blush:slight misread
Is it possible to set an expiration date for the cache?
I get the following in Google's Page Speed Addon for Firebug:
The following cacheable resources have a short freshness lifetime. Specify an expiration at least one week in the future for the following resources:
Any direction would be really appreciated - I understand it might be a no-goer without some serious coding.
I am still using the version before all the fixes and was wondering...I used to be able to upload the folder to my images/promos/vendors-name/productname/all the images properly named
then when I would go into image handler 2 in tools I would just have to add the main promo there with the path to the rest and click to add it. When it got done adding it the others would automatically be seen there also but not just now...again with update "h" having been added.
is that another of those security things? or is my IH2 sick and in need of a doctor--is it now that I need to upload all from my computerand none from the server?
Not sure what's going on with your install but I just tested my test store with IH2 and all is well.. IH2 works with the existing Zen Cart code for managing additional product images so HOW the images are uploaded is of no consequence to IH2.. Here's the product I tested this with and the steps I took:
http://zentestcart.overthehillweb.co...&products_id=4
I created three product images named:
- test_image.gif
- test_image_01.gif
- test_image_02.gif
Using my FTP program I uploaded test_image_01.gif and test_image_02.gif to my images/products directory.
Then using IH2, I uploaded test_image.gif to my product.
As soon as I was done, not only did all three images appear in the IH2 interface, they also appeared on my product as well in the store.
If you have not upgraded IH2 to the latest version (rev 8c) you should. There are quite a few needed functional and security fixes in place, and it works just fine with v1.3.9h of Zen Cart..
thanks Diva, I got curious and stupid at the same time...lol I went to the folder to check and there were the ones i uploaded (that did not show) and the ones that were inserted via IH2...they were at the top and before I thought about it...I delete the former ones, without checking the discrepancy in names...lol since I am sure that is the problem.
Hello Guys,
I need some help please.
I had installed IH2 on my zen-cart then i took it off and installed image swap to test it, but didn't like it, so I removed it and installed IH2 back on. Now my IH2 only works partial.
my site is www.isambella.com/shop
If you move your mouse to the left side NEW PRODUCTS, it does work and it does work on HOVER, but my category or my product listing or product detail pages do not show on HOVER.
Can any1 tell me what I can do to fix this issue. I tried removing and reinstalling like 15 times.
Thanks
Looking at your store it does not appear that you have IH2 installed correctly.. Your images are not being cached at all which probably explains the half working functionality..
No worries.. Still strongly suggest updating to the latest and greatest version.. Nigel's fixes to the javascript alone are well worth it!!!
Sounds like one or more issues is causing your problems:
- Image Swap not uninstalled completely
- IH2 not installed correctly..
Suggest rolling back to a version of your store prior to installing EITHER one of these mods and try re-installing IH2 again..
IH2 is really a straightforward install.. I suspect that the issues you have are due to some leftover Image Swap code which is preventing IH2 from working..Quote:

I just checked all my IH2 files are exactly the same as my web server files... Could it be its something in the database?.
Also I checked the files of image swap... All files deleted and new files installed...
Also I just checked the images and they are bringing from BMZ_Cache.. so the backend is working just the HOVER is not working on the category images and also product detail images. My additional product images work, new products works... just category and product listing and product detail.
Thanks again
Ok Figured it out... Thank You
Is it possible to have cachedir bmz_cache to a subdomain so i can speedup my webpage?
http://www.e-matrix.gr
Not sure if this is come up before or not. I have not had a problem with this addon until today.
When I go to Tools > Image Handler 2 > Manager select the category that has the product I want to edit. Instead of displaying it, it goes to Image Handler admin section.
It was working yesterday and all of the images I have uploaded are still showing. Only thing I did was install the constant contact mod, not sure how to fix this probem. :(
Can't say.. but it seems clear that something in the Constant Contact mod overwrote something that is required for IH2.. Suggest rollback to version of your store prior the the Constant Contact install. Re-Install the other mod making sure you merge any files that IH2 uses that the other mod also uses..
Ok - I rolled back uninstalling that addon and it still did not work. I noticed then it said that Image Handler 2 was not installed. I know it was because I was using it. I reinstalled it via the tools and then it worked.
So that made me curious. Did I uninstall it and not realize it? I went ahead and reinstalled Constant Contact mod - and again IH2 stopped working and said it was not installed.
So I just reinstalled it again and it seems to be working.
Looks like the MySQL for Constant Contact might be messing with the IH2 settings.
At first I have a dedicated server and second I believe that you are joking, it seems that you don't know anything about website performance. I will use cookie free sub domain and the server timeline load will be better, so it will paralel download contents. Why you find this so strange? So can anyone tell me how i can move bmz_cache to a sub domain?
Is there any reason why IH2 would be automatically disabled? I've come across this a few times...thanks!
Hello again Diva. It's me...your problem child. Haha. Sorry to still be on this subject which should be the most basic thing to understand but I still need help....
Okay, I understand how IH2 handles/resizes your images according to your admin settings. However, I would like to FTP my images to my site.
I've created sub categories in the images file. On the product listing page (admin) I list where the image is (subcategory & image name). Viola, all the images appear.
I know that IH2 resizes with scripts making your site load quicker. Also, you don't need to do all that MED & LRG suffixes. Do the images pull from a cache? The images that IH2 sizes are not actually there? Just resizing from the one that you initially uploaded?
Also, I noticed if I link the original image and then upload my additional images I get double pictures, all of the MED images as well as LRG images will show up.
Hi im using 1.3.9 g Zen cart and i need support whith image handler
my problem is resizing and create images, i install all ok, and all work ok but image convert not work
i ask to my hosting, and it says imagemagick is installled i put the source on the config file and i go tools-->IM2 in Preview all on white no images
and if i delete the source of imagemagick from config file , to use GD , i go to Preview and all images appear with the same size
What you think is the problem here? my Hosting?
my hosting says it have imagemagick 6.0.7.1-20.el4.
Hi i install now a Captcha using GD a and its works ok , and now i think i have some wrong on imagehandler
because GD runs Ok
hi i have the solution now, i put it here for help others

Has anyone ever gone to IH in Admin to discover that it had uninstalled itself? This has happened twice in the past few days. I have worked on other things, never seeming to touch anything related to IH, and when I go to IH in Admin, the page is still there, but I have to click 'Install Image Handler' to get it back to normal. Anyone experience this?
Also, is there a way to turn off lightbox for some products? I don't need the lightbox on my 'gift certificate' product, as the image is a single small image that doesn't need to be enlarged in lightbox, but I don't see a way of turning lightbox off for this single product. many thanks.
another quick one:
IH2 w/ lightbox works great, but in admin I still have the old pop-up browser window for enlarging images. It doesn't really matter to me, but did I miss a switch somewhere for turning on lightbox in admin?
This has been reported before (in fact just recently someone asked the same question) Duuno why, but the installation of some modules turns IH2 off.. Dunno why, and it seems minor (though admittedly annoying) Just turn IH2 back on and all will be well..
You'll need to post your lightbox mod questions in the support thread for your lightbox mod (off topic for this support thread)Posted via Mobile Device
Does anyone know why image lightbox 2 doesn't allow me to display additional images with price by attributes? I need extra images for my TPP to work and I am having a hard time getting the extra images to display after I configure the attributes for a product. I don't know if I need to enable something to get the options or not?
Thank you for any ones help or insight!
May I start by saying please forgive me for asking what may be in these many posts. I am tired and my eyes hurt. And dang, there is a lot posts here since I was in this area.:shocking:
I have been at this 5 days straight late into the nights fixing a discovered hack, cleaning up my server and upgrading to 1.3.9h from 1.37.1 (that had all the security updates). I just got the Admin up and running today  but no store yet :frusty:
I have been troubleshooting by installing only the latest and current add ons as I convert.
I had an older IH2 installed and want to remove the old IH2 SQL file from my back up data base. The Admin IH2 says its not installed therefore I can not remove it (1.3.9h).
So is there another way to get that old DB cleaned up and then install this latest IH2? Like a SQL uninstall that I can run? or?
There may be other things to remove, but I'll look into that later I suppose. Its time to go to bed.
Thanks
I've just installed IH2 and do not have a clear idea of how I'm supposed to use it, eg, do I upload the "large" image to the images/large folder or doesn't it matter? Do I have to abide by the usual naming convention, ie file_LRG.jpg etc ? Sorry, but I couldn't face having to read through 606 pages of this thread !
Also with regards to what files to upload, naming conventions etc, there are some recent posts by joyjoy where she had questions regarding some of these concerns.. If you use the thread search tools, and search fro joyjoy, you'll locate these recent posts.. That plus the extensive readme should get you what you need..
The IH2 readme does a fairly good job of explaining how to configure and use IH2.. If you can provide an idea of which part of the setup/configuration/usage instructions are unclear, it might help us to help you out..
Thanks but I'm still in the dark! If I place the large image in the large image folder and then in IH2 I browse to the file and save, I get three image files all of the same size - in the IH2 interface that is, on the front end, the images are resized correctly. In the front end, the small image is scaled down to its thumbnail size but its real size is presumably that of the large image. Or is this not the case ?
I did some research in my diaries and it looks like I put IH 1.3.5 on ZC 1.3.5.
I later upgraded to 1.3.7.1 but it still worked and I was not wanting to fix something not broke.
Now I am trying to make a new 1.3.9h store with only the well "tested" mods that I need and my old sql file that is upgraded.
My new 1.3.9 Admin does have IH but claims it is not installed. If my thinking is straight, and per the instructions, I need to get the old SQL unistalled for the version 1.3.5 before upgrading per the much better improved instructions in this latest 1.39 I have been reading about.
I hesitate to reinstall an old version back into this 1.3.9h just to make the admin uninstall work. It is just going to mess with my head tracking all the updates and comparing files and may not work anyway. I thought I remembered an uninstall sql, but just have no luck finding it.
Anyone know a way to get this done?:dontgetit
Install and UNINSTALL as is suggested in the readme for the latest version of IH2 is THE way to remove a prior version of IH2.. There is no other means provided in the IH2 fileset to achieve this.. (the install/uninstall function executes the SQL needed to make the necessary DB changes)Otherwise you can manually seach your database for the entries IH2 adds to the configuration and configuration_groups tables and remove them manually.Posted via Mobile Device
Thank you for confirming my inability to find an alternative.Quote:

I may try editing the DB, done a little before but I hope its obvious what I need to discard. Need to remember how. I thought of trying to install a fresh old version 1.3.5 and check for code where it is hard coded in this 1.3.9h. Does not sound fun and may not get that Admin to recognize my DB sql. Shame, all my picts look okay in Categories, but I may have other issues like the "blank store page" and that may have nothing to do with this wanted IH2 updated version.
Thanks again,
If you already have the old version installed there really is NO REASON to not simply follow the instructions in the latest version of IH2 for removing older versions of IH2.. It's as simple as uninstalling (in your case you will need to run the install first), remove the obsolete files (list of obsolete files is provided in the readme), then uploading the new IH2 fileset..
Not sure why you are hesitant to do this since this is the EASIEST way to ensure that the older version of IH2 is correctly uninstalled.. (which is why we tested AND recommended this approach in the readme for the latest version). The ONLY thing the IH2 install and uninstall does is to add the needed IH2 entries to the DB.. YES you can remove them manually, but why take a longer approach when there IS a simple solution available..
IH2 working fine on Zencart version 1.3.9h. Except when I tried to upload an additional image using the IH2 Manager -> Add New. I selected an image from my computer and when I click "save", it gave me this error ...
"Error!

"
If you search this support thread you will find some hints and insight into what causes this.. This page is one that might help..

Will be submitting this update tonight..
Finally had a chance to look at and fix this.. This is a MINOR update which addresses the following:
(Rev 8d) Corrected minor issue where the "Clear Cache" function removes the .htaccess and .keep files from "bmz_cache" folder (requiring you to manually FTP these files back after clearing the cache from the admin). Clearing the cache from the IH2 admin no longer removes these files.
I was wondering about Clear Cache. Whenever I used it in the past, it didn't seem to do anything. All the thumbs that IH had created in bmz_cache remained there. So, I figured that maybe Clear Cache was only clearing a cache of the thumbs that had been used in admin (I haven't even looked to see if one exists), such as when you create a product or category and upload the image to go with it and then preview the image, all in admin. I never could see that Clear Cache was doing anything discernible-- is that related to this new fix?
Okay, I have to admit that I didn't read the readme for the upgrade, as I'm used to being able to simply upload the files. However, I removed all of the new files and replaced them with the originals and then uninstalled IH, uploaded the new files and reinstalled IH. I have no medium images (on the product info page) and no hover/zoom effects. Help? Please :) .
Is anyone successfully using the new version with the Fual Slimbox?
Did you re-enter your image settings? (they would have been wiped out and reset to default when you uninstalled and re-installed IH2)
Yep.. As we stated in the readme, we tested both Zen Lightbox and Fual Slimbox for compatibility, and had not trouble getting wither one of these llightbox mods working with IH2.. You will need to use Winmerge or Beyond Compare to merge the files IH2 has in common with Fual Slimbox..
I'm having problems with ImageHandler2. I downloaded and applied the latest version on the weekend.
The fancy zoom feature does not work for most pictures. I thought it was working, and appeared to stop working when I cleared the cache. It does however still work for the images in the left sidebar under new products.
Anyone know what I need to do to enable this for all items again?
My store is http://www.cuffed.com.au
cre8ive, unless something has changed very recently, only images that are the same size as your small image size is set to will have the zoom effect. Your front page has two different sizes of images.
Duuno why as the only REAL changes with the latest version did not affect/modify base functionality at all. The new version deprecated functions that never worked or consisted of outdated code (ie: the SAFE mode hack, and zoom om medium images code which NEVER did anything as it was never fully developed), added in PHP 5.3 and Zen Cart 1.39 compatibility, and a much improved javascript. After that we made some additional updates to address a minor security concern.. All tested by several users Before it was released to the community.. I have it working now on my vanilla test store with no issues whatsoever..

Thanks for the reply Kathy. I understand what you are saying, but from what I can see there is only the one place to set the image size, in Admin -> Configuration -> Images. Is this right, and if so, why would my images be a differnet size on the front page
Sorry for my ignorance.
Thanks,
Ben
Sorry, I worked it out. Specified the same size as the small image in the new products images settings in Configuration -> Images. All works well, and fancy hover affect is back. Thanks
You should re-review the readme.. I believe we did a pretty good job of covering the correct image settings required to get everything to work correctly in IH2.. (We even provided sample settings) Also you should download the latest update (just updated in the downloads a few moments ago) as it fixes a minor issue with the "Clear Cache" function.. (see my post from a day or two ago for the specifics)
Hi I am trying to install but hosted on yahoo running 1.3.9f. I am unable to load the files

Is there any way around this?
Thanks Shane
disappointing but thanks
Want to upgrade due to a few issues including:
1-Bandwidth recently skyrocketed as thumbnails seem to be loading large images
2- Some customers reporting disfigured images (which I can't duplicate, think it depends on browser and version)
I looked at install docs but didn't see much on Uninstall.
Do I just copy over files and locations?
And. any SQL install as did not see mentioned in the install doc
It is disappointing, but you will find as you go along that many of Yahoo's hosting restrictions will cause other issues with Zen Cart. (for example, SEO modules ALL require the use of an .htaccess file, and they will NOT work without them..)
Frankly I'm surprised you are running Zen Cart at all if your hosts restricts these type of files. They are included in MULTIPLE paces within the Zen Cart 1.3.9 files. (if you've removed these files, to get around your hosts restrictions, you are opening your site up for other issues..)
We added the same .htaccess file used in the image folders in Zen Cart v1.3.9 to the IH2 bmz_cache folder to add the same kinds of protections to the bmz_cache folders.
The BEST long term solution would be to change your site hosting to a webhost that is better suited for hosting a Zen Cart site. One of my client's had to make such a change for this very same reason..
Yea not the only thing that annoys me about yahoo - try talking to their support for a start. Will be changing in Jan - cant wait! May I ask what we are open to? We are a COD operation so not too vulnerable there but clients email addresses? I have not yet implemented SSL as worried what yahoo might do to my database.
Did not remove anny files but now that I think about it when I first loaded files there were a couple of htacess files that did not go thro - was REALLY ignorant in those days and as thing worked just ignored it - Oops
Being a COD operation does not minimize your exposure to site hacks if you are bypassing Zen Cart security measures..
I'd suggest asking this question in a more appropriate part of the forum as the answer and any continuing discussion of this subject is WELL off topic for the IH2 support thread..
Sorry point taken
Thats a sign that IH isn't installed correctly
This sky rocketing didn't perchance happen after installing an seo mod like simple seo
If you click to view a larger image on pages like this, it won't work
http://www.cvtreasures.com/special-m...r-photo-p-2127
because the mod is rewriting the popup url
see here
http://www.zen-cart.com/forum/showpo...&postcount=389
also i can see no trace of IH on your site and as your page appears to be heavily customised, with loads of font tags (depreceated now days) etc, and there seem to be nesting errors with tables and divs, have you tried validating
Something is seriously borked with the site, as just looking around the site i got this
The only things I did were look at the site, try and run it through the W3c validator and open the site in an alternate browser (Amaya)Quote:

I have yet to get IH2 to work properly but after reading hundreds of posts. From joyjoy to present I think I know why it is not working for me. Please pardon my lack of experience in ZC but I hope I am as clear as possible. I'll probably answer my own question as I write this but I hope it helps others in my same situation. :D

:: DESCRIPTION::
When hovering over list images the zoom = 125x94 instead of 250. When entering the product info page the image is also 125x94. I think that it has always been like this and I just noticed now because of trying to add this module. Perhaps this is the case because I do not have a images>medium>products>xxxxx_MED.jpg file for it. (Still learning ZC so this may have been my poor understanding of the image preparation how to (https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=224).
I tested in Admin>Tools>IH2 adding a default image of 125x94 and had the same effect except that the large image was also labeled at 125x94. When I tested a much larger image as default the 3 sizes and zoom worked; however, it looks like IH2 uses the default image location "images". Aside from the fancy hover effect, I like how IH2 will do the heavy lifting for me. No need to resize images on my own anymore.
So this is where I need your advice.
1) I want to keep my images organized. I was thinking of changing my image storage to sub folders within images named after the product manufacturer. Is this still possible when using IH2? If so, can you point me in the right direction to do so?
2) Do I need to reload all my images using IH2? Or can I load large images into the default folder and update the image location from every product.
3) When IH2 manipulates/resizes the images do they get put into the bmz_cache? If so is there any reason why I would want to clear cache eventually? I am guessing that the DB update was to store the image identifiers now.
4) (Not IH2 related) I haven't cleaned up the images ZC comes with after install thinking I may need them some day when discovering some ZC feature I didn't think I needed when I started. Do you all remove these images and folders?
@BSHRC
Something is misconfigured, because as you mention Image Handler is using the default Images from the images folder, not its own cached version from the bmz_cache.
What are the permissions set on the /bmz_cache folder
and are there any errors appearing in your /cache folder
Image handler will use the base image as its base to work from and will not resize images that are smaller than its settings, try putting in a large image as your base image, as from what i can see in most cases your base image appears to be 125
As for image organisation, organise your image folder however you want and image handler will work fine, but you image organisation will not be copied accross to the bmz_cache it uses its own system
Clearing the bmz_cache - reasons you may want to do this, I personally do this everytime i make changes to the image size settings, and once in a while to clear out the cached images of deleted products, (one site I deal with has 3-4000 products)
Nigelt74,
Thanks for the reply.
Permissions to bmz_cache are 755. I have tried both 755 and 777 permissions.
In Admin>Tools>IH2 when I strip a product of all images and enter an image of 125x94 all sizes are at 125x94. Furthermore, the image appears in my images folder as opposed to the images>products folder. From your response you mentioned something is misconfigured and I don't know where one would configure a default folder location or an option in IH2 to where to place the image.
Good point no the reasons to clear the cache.
Any help is appreciated.
Image handle doesn't enlarge images,
basically lets say you want your
listing page image to be 125px w
Hover image and product image to be 250px w
and your larger image to be 500px w
you would just upload a 500px w image as the only image for your product and image handler would automatically create the various sizes in the bmz_cache
What i think is happening is that you are putting up a 125px w image as your base image and then wondering why you are not getting a 250px wide hover image
Image handler has nothing to do with where the image is stored in the images directory,
you should be able to select any subfolder of images on the admin --> catagory/products --> and select and edit your specific product
the images directory is the default one i think, you need to actually select images/product when adding the image
There is a hack to set it as default
This caught my attention.. I as a mater of practice train my clients to use a "products" sub-folder for uploading their product images.. Would be nice if this was the default location (much like category images) Can you PM me the hack.. (Don't want to start an off-topic discussion..)
Nigelt,
I figured I was backwards with the sizing and I did have a hunch regarding the default image siz; however, when adding an image to my product directly from IH2 it does go to images rather than images>products. Does this mean that when I add additional images to my product they will go to images as well?
Could you share with us how to change the default folder?
If you use IH2 to upload your main product image image (meaning you have NOT uploaded a product image at the time you created a product), the IH2 interface will provide you the option to choose the image directory where this image should be uploaded to. In the IH2 interface ou will see a "Base image directory" section which will allow you to choose one of your "images" folders sub-directories (or you may choose to upload the image directly into the top level "images" folder). Once you choose the directory where the image should be uploaded to, all additional images you upload via IH2 will then be uploaded to the same directory.
on the other hand...
If you uploaded your main product image at the time you created the product, any subsequent images you upload via IH2 will go into the same directory you uploaded the main product image into.
That particular discussion is kinda off-topic for IH2 support which is why I asked Nigel to PM me that information.. I'm sure he'll be happy to share it with you too and/or if he shares it with me I'll post it in the appropriate place on the forum so that everyone can make use of the information..
Now if this hack is possible update for IH2, then I hope Nigel shares this information here... and if Nigel doesn't object, I'll be happy to incorporate it into the IH2 code and upload an updated version with this code included..
Thank you all for clarifying these things for me! Love the contribution!
Awesome!!! Once you play around with IH2, you'll see that it really is pretty easy to install and use..
I use it for my clients because they don't have to "learn" how to name images for Zen Cart to recognize them as additional product images.. (though it's pretty easy to do manually, for many of my clients, it was a bit mind blowing..) With IH2 they simply upload their additional product images and IH2 does all the "heavy lifting" of re-naming for them..
Yessir, once the default image size was clarified for me, I was off to the races.
The IH2 works wonderfully and extensive read me file got me moments away from the full desired effect. Now onto the watermark image.
Thanks again.
My larger image link has stopped working now. The only thing I changed was I installed the Simple Google Analytics addon.
The box pops up but no image inide it. Any suggestions on how to troubleshoot? :(

Thanks,

I just found out, my probably with the larger image link not working was being casued by the Simple Google Analytics add-on. When I change the tracking method back to the default (ga.js) it works fine.
When the tracking mode is set to Asyncronous it breaks the larger image link. I have posted now in the Simple Google Analytics support thread, asking if it is a bug.
Ben I assume you have partially fixed this as when i click the larger image link the popup has the image in it, although it appears the image is coming from the images directory rather than Image handlers cache, was it a case of having to exclude the pop-up url, as is the case with one of the other seo mods?

I'll provide a link here as undoubtedly someone will ask in a weeks time and I will have forgotten, this sets a default on the add product page of zencart, i have never bothered about looking for a way to set the default in IH as all my clients upload via the add products page and if they do add additional images via zencart they will be uploaded to the correct directory automatically,
