Once again Clyde your the man! Thank you so much! Your template has worked well for me and I very much appreciate your efforts!
Does anyone know how to remove the Date/Time that is right below the heading? Version 1.3.8a

open includes/templates/comstock/css/stylesheet.css
find the following declaration and add the highlighted portion:
.date {
display:none;

padding-right: 5px;
float: right;
color: #000;
font-weight: bold;
text-align: right;

i have added that, fixed that problem however it for whatever reason changed my borders around ... anytime i have tried to modify the stylesheet the borders on the main page around the boxes dont display correctly.. i dont know why this is
Check and make sure you have the following declaration in your stylesheet
.sideBoxContent {
margin: 0;
padding: 0 0.3em 1em 0.3em;
background-image:url(../images/sidebox_content_bg.gif);
background-repeat:no-repeat;
background-position:bottom;
line-height: normal;
}
Thanks for your help Clyde, i am going to try a different template
Hi Clyde
I'm currently using Zencart v1.3.9h, Just upgraded from v1.3.9b,
installed update for comstock template for v1.3.9
my problem is this I recently Installed mod "Column Layout Grid for
Product Listing " as the options for Product Listing-Layout Style and
Product Listing-Columns Per Row were not in my original Admin Config.I installed this files for this mod for both the classic template and the comstock template.Mod seems to work fine using the classic template but when using the comstock template the attributes (product image, model, price, qty ) line up vertically in a single column down the center of the page.
My apologies for the long winded explanation I currently dont have the site live as yet and wanted to supply you with as much info as I can.
Without actually seeing your site, it is difficult to narrow down the problem you may be having.
There should be no reason that the column layout grid add-on should not work with the template. (I've tested it on various sites and encountered no problems.)
check your settings in admin -> configuration -> product listing
Product Listing - Layout Style columns
Product Listing - Columns Per Row 3
Hi Clyde
Rechecked settings in admin settings are correct.
Hi Clyde
Solved problem Although it may not be the correct way to solve it. Went to ZEN_CART_HOME_DIR/includes/modules stucture is as follows:
Folders
classic
comstock
debug_blocks
order_total
pages
payment
shipping
sideboxes
Files
additional_images.php
also_purchased_products.php
attributes.php
etc. etc.
product_listing.php
Solved problem by replacing existing file product_listing.php with the product_listing.php contained in the mod. I realize that this is not the usual way to correct this problem but putting the product_listing.php file in ZEN_CART_HOME_DIR/includes/modules/comstock/product_listing.php did not accomplish anything. Perhaps there is something inncorrect in my file structure that is preventing the original filefrom being overidden.
Great template, love the general look. After installing it everything appears to be fine. But then when doing a test order and coming back to the home page, the boxes on the right are broken with a clear line.
Not sure just where I am supposed to be looking to fix this? :blush:
Version: 1.3.9h
URL: http://reddevildistribution.com
Hi clydejones, how can I remove the " l_ " infront of the sub categories nav? See my page http://www.unique-womens-clothing.com, under Categories sidebox, I have Dresses then under Dresses I have this l_ Evening dress. Thanks in advance.
Ah, now this one I can tackle :smile:
In your admin, navigate to: Configuration --> Layout Settings
Under there, about 1/2 way down or so, are three different settings for the category separator. Just remove the default setting for Category Name and Sub Categories (just blank out what is there).
Hope that this helps!
Clyde,
Right now, just the best seller box. But when when a customer is logged in with a previous history, then it appears in that box as well.
Not affecting all of them though.....:huh:
Have been searching trying to find an answer before I posted here.
Thanks!
We have 2 individual installations on our domain. One of them is for retail customers and the other for wholesale customers. If someone goes directly to our domain they are given the option to visit the retail or wholesale site (see http://reddevildistribution.com).
The problem is when someone goes to the wholesale site. While visiting the site if they click on Home or on the logo it takes them back to the root server. Is it possible to have them just returned to the home page for the wholesale site?
Not sure if this makes any sense or not, but if you look at the index itself, located at: http://reddevildistribution.com/index.php and then click on home or the logo it just kind of loops you back around.
We are on v1.3.9h using the Comstock Template. The retail portion is located on a sub directory (../retail) while the wholesale is located on the root directory.
Any suggestions on this would be greatly appreciated!
:unsure:
Thanks!
This is not a template specific problem and I'm not sure if the following solution will work.
Try the following:
open includes/configure.php
find the following define statements and make the changes as indicated by the highlight(s)
define('DIR_WS_CATALOG', 'index.php/');
define('DIR_WS_HTTPS_CATALOG', 'index.php/');
Make the same changes in YOUR_ADMIN/includes/configure.php
Thanks Clyde! Worked perfectly!
Version 1.3.8
comstock theme
My main product images are missing on every product. Did I turn them off somewhere? I have looked everywhere and can't seem to find this.
http://www.whopperbaits.com/zen-cart/
I have image handler2, attributes stock, attribute image replaces main.
I can see the product images on the category pages nbut not the product info pages. For example, on this page. I can see all of the atribute images but not the product image that should be in the upper middle where it dsays click to enlarge.
http://whopperbaits.com/zen-cart/ind...products_id=48
I'd have to say its because of the height="0" in the image src
(<img src="images/medium/Green Pumpkin Boxing Craw_MED.JPG" alt="Boxing Craw" title=" Boxing Craw " width="150" height="0" />)
check your setting in admin -> Configuration -> images ->
Product Info - Image Width
Product Info - Image Height
OK, but the image doesn't exist in the medium folder. Do I have to manually do all of those?
Hi Clyde,
Just checking in to see if there was ever a fix to the sidebox with a clear/white line running through it?
I have searched all through this thread and read the posts but no one has ever seemed to find a fix...
http://www.aclassactapparel.com/
No that didn't work. It actually made the space between the header and the text further apart but had no effect on the line size or spacing.
One thing I have noticed is that when I play with Web Developer Tools in Firefox I am able to get a red highlight box completely around the Bestsellers Box and this is the css info I get:
.leftBoxContainer, .rightBoxContainer (line 332)
{
margin-top: 1.5em;
}
The other boxes I cannot get the red box to completely surround the sidebox. I am thinking that maybe this has something to do with the over all size of the box and the Heading and the lower portion of the sidebox dont add up so that is why there is a gap... just my 2 cents...
Ok you have permission to slap me :frusty:but how do you edit the "tatgline here" line in the header I've search for ages using every combination of the phrase and can't find anything, and can you piont me in the direction of where I'll find or serch for other how to's for the comstock template
did you check this article in the Tutorials/FAQ section?
www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=127
That is already there, so must not be the solution :(
OK read this https://www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/i...hp?article=124
How do I change the Header Image?
By default Zen Cart uses header_bg.jpg for the name of this image, but you can use you own filename for the background image.
Using an image editor, create a new background graphic and save it to includes/templates/CUSTOM/images/your_header_image.???.
Now open your stylesheet.css and find or add the following code.
#logoWrapper {
width:760px;
height:110px;
background-image:url(../images/your_header_image.???);
background-repeat:no-repeat;
}
Change the file name to that of your own header image, adjust the width and height to those of your header image, save the stylesheet and upload both files to your server.
but I still can't get the header image to show up is it turned off somewhere
http://www.rvsolarsystems.co.uk/store2/ :oops:
http://www.rvsolarsystems.co.uk/store/ typo sorry
When you say background image do you mean the "comstock" logo?
if that's the case then check this article in the tutorials/FAQ section:
www.zen-cart.com/tutorials/index.php?article=125
Hi Clyde no I'm tying to use this image as my header
http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...tdi/header.png
with the contact us my account view cart and search etc still visable.
cheers
peter
open includes/templates/comstock/css/stylesheet.css
find the following declaration and make the highlighted change.
make sure you've saved the image to includes/templates/comstock/images/
#logoWrapper {
margin: 0 auto;
padding: 0;
width: 907px;
height:100px;
background: #f2f2f2 url(../images/header.png) no-repeat;
position: relative;
}
Hi Clyde I'd tried that before but only got it to fill some of the header area http://www.rvsolarsystems.co.uk/store/ i'd like it to fill the whole area
Cheers Peter
Hi all is it possible to have the search box that was in the header alongside the contact us, my account, veiw cart button instead, I've had to remove it from the header due the new header image.
Cheers
Peter
As the title I've tried inserting a code in the style sheet that I found in another post but the bullett points don't show so how is it done
Cheers
Peter
I'm trying to create bullet lists in my product discriptions I've used a html editor and the admin text editor but there not showing in my store, they did show in my other template all business but for some reason they are missing in comstock yet the files are the same :huh:
also Ive installed the extra pages for more info mod and it's overwriten you credit in the footer can I have the code to put it back. I think you deserve to be mentioned on my site for all the help your giving me :hug:
http://www.rvsolarsystems.co.uk/store I've just used plain text for the discriptions till I solve the bullett list issue
Use the following for your lists:
<h3>Specification</h3>
<ul>
<li>Panel Size 541mm(w) x 1196mm(h) x 40mm(d)</li>
<li>Peak Power: 80w</li>
<li>Open Circuit Voltage: 21.9V</li>
<li>Short Circuit Current: 5.07A</li>
<li>Power Allowance Range: 5%</li>
<li>Max Power Voltage: 17.5V</li>
<li>Max System Current: 4.58A</li>
<li>Max System Voltage: 700VDC</li>
<li>Number of Cells: 36</li>
<li>10 year Warranty</li>
</ul>
add the following to product_info.css
#productDescription li {
list-style:disc;
}
The other information is located in includes/languages/comstock/english.php
thats the code I tried done it angain and this is what I get
http://www.rvsolarsystems.co.uk/stor...&products_id=6
open includes/languages/comstock/english.php
near the top of the file you will find something similar to this; just replace the existing text with the following:
PHP Code:
define('TEMPLATE_NAME', 'Comstock Template ');
define('TEMPLATE_DESIGN', '<a href="http://clydedesigns.com/" target="_blank">' . TEMPLATE_NAME. 'Design by Clyde Designs</a>');
define('STORE_COPYRIGHT_YEAR', '2008');
$copyyear = ((STORE_COPYRIGHT_YEAR != date('Y')) ? STORE_COPYRIGHT_YEAR . '-' . date('Y') : STORE_COPYRIGHT_YEAR) . ' ';
define('FOOTER_TEXT_BODY', 'Copyright © ' . $copyyear . ' <a href="' . zen_href_link(FILENAME_DEFAULT) . '" target="_blank">' . STORE_NAME . '</a> | ' . TEMPLATE_DESIGN . ' | Powered by <a href="http://www.zen-cart.com" target="_blank">Zen Cart</a>');
http://bulletkeychains.net/store/ind...&products_id=2
If you look at this page, you'll see the product description is beong overlapped by the cart info box. How do I fix?
IE8. But it does seem to happen in compatibility mode only. Still may be worth a fix.
open includes/templates/comstock/templates/tpl_product_info_display.php
find the following section of code
and replace it with the followingCode:<!--bof Product description -->
<div id="productDescriptionBox">
Code:<br class="clearBoth" />
<!--bof Product description -->
<div id="productDescriptionBox">
That worked, thanks!
I also see in the shipping estimater that the text color needs to be changed (or the text moved out of the colored bars) as black doesn't show well int he black and red bars. Which template file controls that?
That did not work, still have the lines
Still no good.
Also, you'll notice the size and position of the header sales text is vastly different depending on which browser you view it with.
Since we cannot remove that background, I guess that will have to do. Any idea on the sales text message in the header?
As a tip, reducing the length of such things as "UNITED STATES POSTAL SERVICE" in the payment module keeps the total screen alignment from skewing.
try opening
includes/templates/comstock/css/ie_stylesheet.css
delete the following:
#taglineWrapper {
margin: 0 auto;
/*width: 100%;*/
position: relative;
}
#tagline {
padding-top:10px;
color:#000000;
font-size: 1.2em;
vertical-align: middle;
text-align: center;
}
That did make it look like it does in other browsers, BUT I liked it better the IE way! Any way to make it look like IE in other browsers?
just been going through a check of my stores shopping cart and when I got to the estimate shippng I got this
http://i896.photobucket.com/albums/a...rytdi/oops.jpg
any clues
https://pegasus.terrassl.net/~rvsolars/store/
same in IE too
Alos in IE the headers all messed up looks ok in fire fox though
:oops:
If you look back a couple posts, you'll see I had to change the shippng estimator to display on the page rather than a pop up. Could not seem to fix the background colored bars :(
Still would like to get the sales message in the upper left hand corner on all browsers....

Stock by Attributes
Will this interfere with anything your template has? README file below:
Quote:
Installation
Create a new database table and a new configuration switch by running the 'stock_attribute.sql' via Admin->Tools->Install SQL Patches. If you prefer to use another method to create this table, you will need to edit the file if you use a prefix such as "zen_" for your tables.
Prepare the package for upload to your server by renaming the following folders to match your template name: includes/modules/YOUR_TEMPLATE and includes/templates/YOUR_TEMPLATE.
If you are installing onto a new install or upgrade of Zen Cart 1.3.5 or later then with most good FTP programs (such as FileZilla) you can simply drag and drop the admin and includes directories into the root directory of your site. The files are already arranged in their directory structure.
There are six core Zen Cart files modified by this add-on. If you have installed other add-ons or customised your cart since your Zen Cart installation or upgrade, you will need to check whether they have changed any of the following files:
病dmin/orders.php
病dmin/includes/functions/general.php
品ncludes/classes/order.php
品ncludes/functions/functions_lookups.php
品ncludes/modules/pages/checkout_shipping/header_php.php
品ncludes/modules/pages/shopping_cart/header_php.php
In addition, one file is over-ridden
品ncludes/templates/template_default/templates/tpl_shopping_cart_default.php
If you, or any mods that you have installed, have changed any of these files (or over-ridden the last one), then you will need to merge the any changes into the relevant file.
unfortunately it messes many things up. I removed it.
Clyde,
You seem to be the guy that knows his stuff. Would you look at adding a line when someone tries to order more tan available? Right not it puts a red *** behind the item name. I would think it would be easy enough (except for someone php disabled like me) to make it" *** Only 10 left in stock" in the cart behind the item names.
